If nobody picked up after two more tries, he would call the police!
Still, nobody picked up.
Sterling was getting irritated and worried after listening to the robotic female voice repeating again and again that the number he had dialed was unavailable, and so he dialed 911.
However, as soon as he pressed the last number, a strong, burly man approached him. âExcuse me, are you Mr. White?â
âWho are you?â Sterling thought the man looked familiar but he could not put a name to the face.
âIâm Ms. Whiteâs bodyguard. She wanted me to let you know that she had already gone back to rest because she wasnât feeling well earlier,â the man continued respectfully.
Now that he said it, Sterling immediately recognized him as Sophâs bodyguard.
However, he could not help but wonder. âWhy didnât she tell me that sheâs going back first then? Even if sheâs feeling unwell, she should be able to pick up my call, right?â
The bodyguard replied courteously, âMs. White wanted to come and see you but she saw you talking to a few people and she didnât want to interfere.
Also, she left her phone at home, thatâs why sheâs not answering.â
With that, he left right away.
With a confused frown, Sterling quickly called out after him, âHey, wait a minute! If Sophiaâs not feeling well, take me back with you so I can check on her.â
Soph had seemed to be quite frail ever since she got out of prison. Now that she was pregnant, there might be a risk of her old illnesses recurring and that would not be good. It would be much safer to go to the hospital for a checkup.
He walked in front of the Ferrari and opened the car door as he yelled to the bodyguard, âDo you want to jump in, or do you have your own car?â
A brief look of panic flashed across the bodyguardâs face when he saw Sterling starting the car. âMs. White claims that sheâs feeling unwell and wanted to go back and rest, you might disturb her if you drop by now.â
âSoph always has problems sleeping, Iâm sure she would still be awake by the time I reach her place. I just want to check on her and make sure that sheâs alright, I wonât disturb her at all.â Sterling had always been an impatient man and he hated it when people dilly-dallied. âHurry up and get in the car!â
His foot was already on the pedal, ready to drive off at any moment now.
The bodyguard was worried that he would actually go over to her place, and things might not turn well if he did not see Sophia then. âMr. White, Ms.
White had already gone back a while ago so she should be asleep now. I think...â
Sterling was truly losing his patience. âFirst, Soph disappeared out of nowhere. Then, she refused to pick up my calls, and now, youâre stopping me from seeing Soph... Did you guys do something to Soph and youâre worried that I would find out?â
Frankly, he was merely saying that because he was annoyed by the bodyguard.
After all, this was the Harris familyâs territory and there were so many guests at the funeral. Besides, Charles was the one who hired these bodyguards so Soph should be in good hands!
However, the bodyguard thought that Sterling was beginning to suspect them and he was so nervous his heart almost jumped to the back of his throat. In the heat of the moment, he quickly thought of an explanation.
âActually, Ms. White just doesnât know how to face you and Mrs. White! She thinks that sheâs the reason Mrs. White lost her arm!â
Sterling had already tried his best to push this thought to the back of his mind, but now that the bodyguard had brought it up, he was suddenly reminded.
Soph had certainly been avoiding him and his wife these days...
âAlright, I understand. Go back and check on Soph then, and give me a call if sheâs still unwell.â
Sterling gave the bodyguard his name card, and after making sure that the bodyguard understood his instructions, he drove away in frustration.
Right as he drove away, a middle-aged man ran over.
He let out a heavy sigh as he stared at Sterlingâs car driving away. He just happened to see a woman who was struck unconscious and he thought she looked like Ms. White. He wanted to tell Mr. White what he just saw but alas, he was too late, and he did not have Mr. Whiteâs contact number...

Pain.
Her neck hurt.
Sophia furrowed her brows as she struggled to open her eyes, and as soon as she saw the empty ceiling above her, she sat up abruptly.
Sylvia wanted to get rid of her baby and force her to be raped!
Sophiaâs hand quickly went to her abdomen, and she immediately let out a breath of relief when she felt the subtle bump. Then, she lifted the blanket spread over her to check her body.
She was still dressed and there were no suspicious marks on her body.
Sophia moved her sore neck and looked around at the room she was in. Everything looked unfamiliar but from the looks of the interior, it seemed to be a guest room.
Where was she?
Sophia searched around for any hidden security cameras, and when she did not see anything suspicious, she got down the bed. Carefully, she made her way to the door and tried the handle.
Fortunately, it was not locked.
She pressed her ear to the door and listened for a while, and when she did not hear anything, she finally opened the door. However, as soon as she opened the door slightly, she closed it again and turned around.
It was too easy to be spotted if she left by the door. Sophia walked to the window, thinking that if she was not in a high building, she could easily let herself down using the bedsheets.
She was not on an upper floor, but there was a swimming pool right below outside the window. In this weather now, she would certainly be committing suicide if she fell into the ice-cold water, given her current physical condition.
Sophia circled around the room. There was no vase, no glass, or anything that she could use as a weapon for herself.
Finally, she found a pen. Since she had no other choices, a pen was still better than nothing.
Sophia cautiously let herself out the door, but as soon as she took two steps out, she came face to face with a maid.
She immediately stiffened, but before she could think about how to react, the maid spoke first, âMs. White, Ms. Yates is waiting for you downstairs.â
She saw no signs of cameras just now though, so how did Sylvia know that she had left the room?
Sophia touched the pen in her pocket briefly and nodded. She was now in the hands of Sylvia. She was in no position to say no.

ï¤Chapter 416 So What She had no idea how many people were downstairs waiting for her, neither did she have a clue whether Sylvia was planning to take her straight to a hospital to get an abortion.
