âWhatâs wrong?â Charles asked.
Sophia shook her head. âNothing, Iâm just looking around.â
Perhaps the pregnancy was making her overly sensitive.
âGo ahead and order first, I need to use the restroom,â Charles said as he stood up. Hesitation briefly flashed in his eyes but he did not say anything and left the table.
The instant he left, the feeling that someone was watching her resurfaced.
She glanced around but just as before, everyone was enjoying their meals and nobody was looking her way. However, the feeling did not disappear, but like a shadow, it cloaked over her completely as if it was an invisible net.
Sophia could not help but feel anxious, and so she reached for her phone and held it tightly in her hands. If anything happened, she would be able to give Charles a call right away.
Still, apart from feeling someoneâs gaze on her, nothing else unusual happened.
âWhat coincidence seeing you here, Ms. White.â
A womanâs voice sounded and Sophia instantly stiffened. She slowly turned around.
It was Audrey.
âDo you mind if I take a seat?â Before Sophia could respond, Audrey simply sat down across her. âMs. White, you have quite a getup going on, I almost didnât recognize you.â
Sophia frowned. âDid you already notice me when I entered the restaurant?â
âNot exactly, I didnât see you at first. It was my fiancé who noticed you.â There was a sneering look on her face. âAfter all, youâre the woman he constantly thinks about. Letâs not even talk about wearing a cap or shades to cover your face, he would still recognize you even when you turn to ashes.â
Judging from what Audrey was telling her, it made sense to assume that William was the one staring at her the entire time just now.
However, Sophia still felt that something was wrong.
It was just a gut instinct that told her William and Audrey were not the ones sizing her up.
âWe just started talking and youâre already distracted. Is this how little you think of me, Ms. White, or are you doing it on purpose?â Audrey asked tentatively.
Sophia adjusted her thoughts and responded casually, âYou donât have to beat around the bush. What do you want?â
âAlright, since you asked, Iâll go straight to the point then! Iâm sure youâre aware of the Jones family purchasing 25% of White Industriesâ shares, right?â
Sophia nodded curtly. âSo?â
What did this have to do with Audrey?
âLeah and the others are planning to sell those shares in another six days and expose whatever dirty secrets they still have of the White family so that White Industries will suffer a huge loss. I think you should talk to Mr. Harris about this and let him try to help the White family, do you understand me?â
Audrey did not bother to disguise the disgust on her face when she looked at Sophia.
Sophia looked into her eyes as well. âWhy are you telling me all these?â
âIf itâs not for the fact that William is scared to see you, do you think Iâll actually come and talk to you?â Audrey replied impatiently as she got up from her seat. âAnyway, just remember to tell Mr. Harris about this! Iâm leaving now!â
âWait a minute,â Sophia called out to her as she stood up as well.
Audrey looked back, clearly irritated. âWhat is it?â
âThis is a mutually beneficial matter, you donât have to use such a condescending tone and act like youâre doing charity work?â Sophia said.
Audrey crossed her arms and sneered. âI came here to tell you Jones familyâs intention so you can take the necessary precautions, and you tell me that this is mutually beneficial?â
âWhy are you telling me this when you hate me?â Sophia asked.
The jeering grin on Audreyâs face was instantly wiped away as she fell silent.
âLet me answer this for you. Itâs because Leah was the one who proposed this plan, and if it succeeds, the chances of her taking over Jones Group in the future will be higher.â
âYou, or perhaps I would say the Sommer family, is worried that William wouldnât stand a chance against Leah, so you decided to tell me about this so that Leahâs plan would be ruined, am I right?â
Audrey had seized the window of opportunity now that Charles was away and came over because she was worried that he would see through her plans, but she had not expected Sophia to be able to.
This woman finally grew some brains after spending two years in prison after all!
Sophia was not the arrogant and browbeaten woman she once was either, she was much more cautious now. âYouâre not wrong, but if you look at the whole picture, me sharing this piece of information with you is giving the White family a very big advantage.â
âLike I said, itâs mutually beneficial so letâs not talk about who profits the most anymore,â Sophia said, âI can accept that youâre using Charles to ruin Leahâs plan but I have my conditions as well.â
Sophiaâs meaning was no different from Audreyâs, but from the way she phrased her words, it sounded like the Sommer family was the one benefitting from this all.
Audreyâs expression sank upon hearing her words. âSophia, donât push it!â
If it was not for the fact that she feared Leah, there was no way she would tell Sophia about this!
âIf thatâs the case, I donât think thereâs anything else to discuss here.â Sophia sat down.
Seeing how nonchalant Sophia seemed, Audrey immediately panicked. âYou better think through this carefully. If you donât tell Mr. Harris about this and ask him for help, White Industries will be in deep trouble!â
âNot necessarily. Once Jones Group acquires 25% of White Industriesâ shares, they become one of our major shareholders. If White Industries does well, they would benefit as well.â
âYou do know about the two biopharmaceutical companies under White Industries that just developed new drug treatments, right? These two alone can bring huge profits to White Industries, and if we work together with Jones Group, itâs not impossible for us to have a win-win situation here.â
âAlright, letâs say Leahâs plan succeeds. If Master Harris passes away, William wonât even have a quarter chance to inherit Jones Group,â Sophia continued.
She was certain that she would never make peace with Leah in this lifetime, but Audrey did not think the same. She thought that Sophia would be willing to let go of their ugly past to reap more benefits.

ï¤Chapter 372 Perhaps She Was Being Threatened Audreyâs expression changed but she kept quiet.
âI think you should make a decision soon, Charles might be coming back anytime now and I donât think heâs as friendly as I am,â Sophia suggested.
Audrey clenched her fists and replied through gritted teeth, âYou better not slip up with this! What are your conditions?â
âIâm not asking much. Just tell me everything about Jones Group and what theyâre doing for the next few days,â Sophia said.
Charles was already walking toward them.
â... Okay!â Audrey forced herself to respond, and with a snort, she turned on her heels and stomped away.
Charles came back to the table and draped his suit jacket over the chair. âWhat was Audrey doing over here?â
Sophia quickly told him everything that just happened.
âI see youâre getting better in setting up traps now,â Charles chuckled as he gently patted her head.
He was rarely physical with her in public settings so Sophia felt slightly embarrassed. She moved away from his touch with a weird look on her face. âI learned it from you.â
âIs this what they mean by a wife sings her husbandâs tune?â Charles rolled up his sleeves and revealed his beautifully sculpted forearms. âThough, I havenât heard you call me Hubby yet. Why donât you try it now?â
He leaned forward slightly and lifted her chin with his finger.
