A/N: Ian Somerhalder as Council Leader Alaric above ð
Actaeon Island: The Vulcan Clan of Dragon Shifters
Alice pov
It was nearing midday, Emma had went back to sleep after the doctors had checked her over and everyone went about their way. I was left alone in my room but after sitting at the balcony for two hours staring out at the forest and random dragons roaming around the yard I was bored. Oddly enough while the dragons were scary being this far away had me at ease however there was something different about the clan leader, Deacon.
With a loud sigh I stared at the blue sky watching the dragons fly around as my thoughts went to the rugged handsome man. He was quite intimidating but undeniably sexy. He was by far the largest man I have ever seen, just standing next to him made me feel inferior but what really got me is that he reminds me of Ryan my old pack's Gamma and my main tormentor. Not a day passed without Ryan hurting me. Despite not being the Alpha, Ryan had the largest built in my old pack but that didn't mean anything on the battle field.
As I watched the dark green forest once again my thoughts drifted back to the clan leader. Deacon was an enigma. While he intrigued me his sheer size was unsettling. Standing near him taking in his muscular form reminds me that the slightest movement from him could end me. Logically I know he wouldn't hurt me but the knowledge does nothing to comfort me. In time I will get accustomed to his size as for now I should try not to be alone with him.
'Yes, that's right, baby steps.'
Urghhh! That's it! I can't take this boredom anymore.
Getting up I walked to the door pushing it open slowly. Looking both sides the coast was clear, I didn't want to bounce into any of the clan members, I was shy and I didn't know how to talk to new people. I didn't want to make a fool of myself.
Walking down a few corridors I turned right before meeting large double wood door, the massive library from yesterday. Smiling softly I slowly pushed it open before checking once again to make sure the coast was clear. The truth is I loved books. When I was alone with no one to protect me they would be my escape, my only comfort. It was the one thing I appreciated about alpha Jake. He allowed me to use the pack library.
I really hoped I don't get in trouble but after seeing all those books yesterday I knew I had to come back. I hope it's empty I thought before quickly slipping in and closing the door.
Turning around I was meet with infinite rows of books stretching from floor to ceiling. With a quick glance to the empty desk I deemed the coast clear. I was too absorbed in trying to figure out what to read first that I didn't notice the hot cup of coffee on the massive office desk or the books scattered on it. Not even the tall muscular built that hid behind another book shelf.
Deacon's eyes followed the tiny brunette as she wondered around looking at book after book. He felt stupid hiding from her but he panicked. One second he was reading up on the witches' next thing he knew she darted into the room, dropping everything he hid moving faster than her eyes could follow.
Scanning through the tittles I realized these books ranged from human studies like Maths or Science, many language books and other normal human stuff, there were even cook books. However as I went deeper I realise there was also books on the supernatural. Coming to a stop near the massive oak desk I noticed a section with just supernatural creatures. Werewolves, witches, mermaids, imps, sirens, dragons, demons. Suddenly something caught my interest on the higher shelf.
Guardian Angels
Stretching I tiptoed but only managed to barely touch the bottom. I gave it one more try before giving up. I'll need something to climb up. With that thought in mind I quickly looked around but found nothing. Then my eyes landed on the huge leather chair behind the oak desk and to my luck it had wheels. With another glance at the book I decided yes I do want it that much but I'll need to be quick. I can't let Ambrose catch me moving his chair. He is really scary and so powerful, it wouldn't be much effort for him to hurt me. I already decided to ask Emma for help to return the book.
Hurrying forward I grabbed the chair about to start rolling it when something caught my eyes, an open book lying on the desk. It seemed really old but what really intrigued me was the picture, a witch signing a demon's contract. There were also a few other books similar to the first also lying open. Ambrose must have been doing some research and got side track. Turning I was about to start rolling the chair when something else caught my attention.
A large cup of coffee sat almost innocently at a corner of the desk. It seemed harmless until I noticed the hot steam rising from it. Dread filled me as I froze up in fear. Ambrose was near, very near. What will he do if he caught me trying to take his book? I'm not even sure if Emma can help me anymore. I don't want a repeat of my old pack. I have to run before he noticed me. Quickly fixing back the chair I step backwards about to run away but my feet found uneven ground.
Looking down I froze for a few seconds before my eyes quickly darted back to the bookshelf in shock. A loud gasp escaped my lips as my eyes darted between the spot where the book once was to where it is now, under my feet.
Rigidly I turned once again at the steaming cup of coffee before I realized Ambrose was already here and he's messing with my head before punishing me. I need to get out of here I thought bolting for the door.
Sprinting across the room I was about to grab the door knob when it started turning on its own.
Oh no I'm too late, he's here!
The door opened to reveal Ethan, sighing in relief I quickly ducked under his arm and ran out of there.
Ethan let go of the door, his blue eyes following Alice fleeing for a few seconds before he turned to the clan leader who now walked out of his hiding place.
Standing near the oak desk Deacon blushed lightly before reaching down and plucking the book off the floor. A muscular arm stretched to scratch behind his neck, a nervous habit of his. The little brunette seemed to always make him nervous and unsure of himself.
Ethan folded his arms staring Deacon down waiting for an answer before raising an accusing eyebrow at him.
Awkwardly clearing his throat Deacon spoke.
"Maybe I should have just handed it to her."

Tobago: The Crescent Wolves Pack
As the black hawk landed noble Cole stepped out. Since the moment he was given the news of his new position his wolf had been restless. At first he was confused but after talking to a few other warriors he came to a conclusion. His mate was here. Made sense after all, while everyone left he stayed back guarding the headquarters but now that he stepped foot on the island the feeling intensified tenfold.
Demetrius had informed him on current events. Lucas was a traitor, they fought Cain, Emma's mate was unfit to be Alpha and therefore he was to now step in till the council deem the ex-alpha fit to lead, there is also the chance he can lose the pack for good if he doesn't change.
As Cole continued along he neared a clearing and stepping from the forest to what was the pack's training grounds Cole stood taller as everyone hurried to bow. It was a normal size pack, not weak but not too impressive either and not to mention the fact that he was sent under specific instructions to remodel them all from their poisonous way of thinking against the humans, it only lessened their value in his eyes.
With Matthew to his side Cole's powerful voice boomed across the clearing.
"Rise"
Walking straight through they quickly parted for him like the red sea before he climbed on stage.
"As you all know by now, your alpha had been temporarily stripped of his title. If he redeems himself the council will re-appoint him if not your Beta will step up. As for right now, I will be your Alpha. You will learn how to be a proper werewolf, one that respect each other despite power differences, one that follow the laws and most importantly, you will remember your purpose, protecting the humans."
Cole finished scanning the crowd. His wolf was going crazy. His mate was here but he can't seem to find her. Something else was mixing in with her scent, confusing him and leaving him unable to sniff her out. He would have to make skin contact.
He focused on the pack once again giving up his search for now. Taking a deep breath he released a long powerful howl, displaying exactly how strong his wolf was before his canines extended, his claws released and his voice grew a lot deeper and animalistic. His wolf was making an appearance even though he was still in human form. Now for the final straw that would make him their new alpha.
"SUBMIT!" Cole roared out. Instantly the children and most of the she wolves dropped to their knees exposing their necks, the men followed slower with Beta Jarred being the last to fall. By submitting themselves they had acknowledged him as their new alpha and like chains their connection to Jake broke and a new one formed to Cole binding them to his every word.
Once the new bond was cemented Cole quickly wrapped his speech up before turning to Mathew he spoke softly not wanting others to hear.
"Line everyone up. My mate is here."
Surprised Mathew looked at him shocked for a few seconds before smiling widely happy Cole.
"Yes Alpha."
Cole groaned slightly.
"You don't have to call me Alpha."
"Okay, Cole."
Mathew and Carter had known Cole and the others since they were little. They were next in line to take over from Ethan and Ryder when they step down to become official guards to the right hand. However with Carter getting infected and Lucas betraying them the council has been in chaos. Not to mention the right hand went into hiding. Carter was still unconscious, no matter what they did the poison kept spreading however. They had another light witch who was working to slow down the process but they don't know how long Carter can last before the poison takes him over.
As the last of the unmated she wolves were finally lined up Mathew motioned for Cole to start.
Stepping down into the crowd Cole started walking forward whilst brushing his fingers along each females open palm. He could just shake their hands but he didn't like the way that most of them kept fluttering their eyes at him or pushing up their boobs. Besides a simple touch will be enough, he didn't want that kind of attention from someone who wasn't his mate. Continued on he neared the end of the line as confusion and worry filled him. Only two more she wolves and to go and before he could even touch them he could sense they weren't the one. None the less he stepped forward brushing his finger along both their palms to come up empty. Turning to the pack his voice boomed at them, with desperation and longing.
"Is this all the unmated she wolves?" Cole demanded.
Most flinched sensing the irritation in his voice, some seemed sad for him but there was one that smelled of utter dread and fear. It leaked out her pores as she stood with her head down and shrinking behind a tall male. Suddenly Cole's wolf growled out in his head. He was angry but why? With slow calculated steps Cole approached the couple which had the blonde completely stepping behind the tall male in fear. The male who seemed confused about his mate's reaction to the new Alpha bowed his head introducing himself.
"Welcome Alpha, I'm Beta Jarred Thompson, this is my mate Britney White." Jarred introduced too innocently not catching on to the truth of the matter. As he pulled Britney out from behind him he pushed her forward thinking she was just shy. However Britney stumbled falling forward and Cole automatically reached forward to catch, almost like second nature while her 'mate' just realized she was falling. As a fearfully blonde looked up to Cole's liquid gold yet livid eyes all hell broke loose.

Witch Council Headquarters
"Enter"
One of the massive doors opened slowly causing Lucas to start sweating. Nervously glancing behind him, Lucas debated on if he should run away. However he was met with Cain's sinister grin. It sent cold shivers down his spine making his hands shake slightly. That grin meant trouble, whatever was coming wasn't good. It can't be good if it made the psychopath happy.
As the young dark witch holding the door open cleared his throat lightly, Lucas head snapped away from Cain to the door. Taking a deep breath he stepped into the large throne room. Unlike the werewolf council who was more modest, the witch council was quite flashy and intense. If Lucas didn't know any better he would mistake the three for kings. Then again it is what they wanted, to rule the world.
Coming to a stop in front of them he keeled down glancing at the gold trims at the bottom of council leader's Alaric's throne. Lucas could quite literally feel the weight of the council's glare especially council leader Alaric. While the other two looked aged, Alaric was different. He hasn't aged a day over thirty despite his two hundred years of rule, it left Lucas feeling extremely unsettled that it just might something to do with those eyes.
Blood red eyes turned to him, dark brows furrowed in anger as Alaric glared Lucas down. Clenching his jaw Alaric grinned his teeth, he was furious. The pup was supposed to help kill the werewolf council instead he brought his team, not to mention he lost the hybrid. Standing Alaric rose to his full height, 6'3. A tiny hint of sliver shone at the center of his blood red eyes, the little remaining evidence of his humanity. Taking slow measured steps his black boots echoed throughout the throne room as he approached the whimpering pup, such a sad excuse for a royal. As Alaric casually slipped his hands into his pockets he took those final steps to now stand right in front of the disgrace on the floor. Looking at the fear that radiated from this pup had Alaric feeling a little better. At least he knew he was going to die.
"Where is my hybrid?" Alaric asked calmly as Lucas visually flinched at his deep rough voice.
Alaric's jaw ticked as the pup mumbled an answer.
"I did what you asked. I separated the council warriors. I gave Cain a chance to get the hybrid and the leaders. You got my army, it wasn't for nothing." Lucas spoke softly hoping Alaric would allow him to live.
Instantly a black boot was at Lucas' throat as he was now slammed to the ground with Alaric above him still in a composed cool manner. One wouldn't even be able to tell he was angry if not for the clenching of his jaw or the glare. His hands remained relaxed in his pocket as his right boot pushed harder at the pup's throat before letting up enough for him to answer.
"Where is she?" Alaric spoke again, making it clear if Lucas didn't answer now he would die under his boot.
"I-I don't kn-know, they ne-never told me th-the location of the sa-safe house."
Alaric looked at the pup for a few seconds before removing his boot. He walked back to his throne sitting back down coolly as if he didn't just almost crush someone's windpipe under his foot.
Lucas sighed in relief getting up and back on his knees, if he was going to die he would have died under Alaric's boot like a dog. Alaric never liked the feel of blood on his skin or at least those were the rumors. He was safe for now or so he thought.
Alaric flicked two fingers in Cain's direction as instantly the right hand was behind him. Cain's hand held onto Lucas' hair in an iron grip yanking his head before his left hand came up with a syringe. Lucas looked on in horror as a thick black red liquid was injected into his neck, the venom in its most concerated form. The pain was unbearable. He could feel the it invading his bloodstream like fire taking over his body. After a few more seconds he fell to the floor passing out.
With a sinister grin Cain looked down at the once powerful royal wolf as he lay dying at his feet.
"You will be a nice substitute till I can get what I really want, the werewolf council themselves."
