The woman was nothing but friendly, chatting merrily from the back. â
nameâs Eileen Fall. What should 1 call you two?â
âIâm Wilbur. This is Ryder,â Wilbur responded.
Eileen smiled. âItâs nice to meet you.â
âWhat brings you here alone?â Wilbur asked.
Eileen sighed. âDonât start. Iâve been so bored.â
âWhy did you walk instead of driving up? Are you from out of town?â
âI canât drive.â
Wilbur raised his brows. Were there actually people who could not drive in this day and age?
Eileen smiled. âI really canât drive. My hands and legs stop listening to me the second I get in the driverâs seat.â
âAh, I see. Thatâs fine,â Wilbur replied with a chuckle.
The two of them continued making small talk as the car drove on. Around noon, the driving road stopped near the peak and Wilbur turned off the carâs engine. âThereâs no driving from here. We can only walk now.â
Eileen got out of the car. âThank you so much! I hope to see you again.â
Wilbur waved back. âGoodbye.â
Eileen smiled, turning and walking along a winding road leading further up the mountain.
Wilbur and Ryder got out of the car as well, watching as she disappeared from their sight.
Ryder gripped his briefcase. âThere was spirit energy in her.â
âDo you have to scope out every single person you see? I didnât even realize there was spirit energy in her
âItâs suspicious enough for a woman appearing on the way up a mountain on her own,â Ryder said.
Wilbur nodded with a smile. âYouâve got a point, but not every person with spirit energy is our enemy.â
âJust being careful.â
Wilbur glanced at Ryderâs emotionless face and sighed Working with people like this was so boring, and a pain in the neck.
He took a few steps up to the edge of a cliff and looked down.
The drop from there seemed about a hundred meters tall. Wilbur turned around to look at Ryder. âYou alright there?â
âPerfectly fine,â Ryder said.
Wilbur wasted no time, leaping right off the cliff. A little over fifty meters downward, he landed against a rock protruding from the side of the cliff and pushed off harder, falling even further down
Ryder leaped off too, but he was holding his Alloy Dagger Once he was out of energy, he stabbed the dagger into the cliff, took a breath, then continued falling
It was a good few minutes later when the two of them finally reached the very bottom, and they made their way further into the mountain.

evening, both men came up to the edge canyon. Wilbur stopped in his . Ryder from behind, â
Penn, whatâs the mission here
âYouâre my backup,â Wilbur said.
Ryderâs gaze fell on a hill across from him.
The top of the hill overlooked the canyon perfectly.
Wilbur nodded. âThatâs good enough. Go on, and donât come down without my orders.â
âYes, sir.â
Ryder turned and ran at top speed, disappearing into the thicket of trees.
Wilbur smirked at the sight of the canyon. âIâm here now. Are you ready?â
He slowly made his way in after that.
The canyon was surrounded by lush mountains, but the canyon itself was devoid of any life.
There was a small lake, but the water in it was black and reeking of decay.
It was only when Wilbur took a closer look that he realized the liquid in the lake was blood, a congealed mass that had been sitting in there for years.
