The moment Getmwa Joshegiquat, with a shift in his gaze, began to face off against Seraphine with determination was right after I collapsed.
It seemed his previously hesitant attitude had transformed completely after Seraphineâs transformation into the Demon King had begun.
Thanks to that, even though the battle shifted from three-on-one to two-on-one, the situation looked much more favorable. It seemed I didnât need to get back up and join the fight.
ââ¦Hah.â
Taking a moment to collect myself and look around, I saw that everyoneâs condition was far from good.
While Luke appeared to be in the most dire state outwardly, everyone else didnât seem to be in much better shape. Ethan had a deep wound in his shoulder from Lukeâs sword, and both Agnes and Antonio had collapsed after inflicting severe injuries on each other.
â¦Having not witnessed the entire battle, I couldnât be sure, but perhaps one of them had lost the will to fight and pretended to collapse along with the other. No matter how much ideological differences might push them to clash, it was hard to imagine one of them genuinely trying to kill an old lover.@@novelbin@@
âEven if we successfully subjugate Seraphine, things are going to be a mess.â
How would we handle Seraphineâs death? What excuse would we make for the Heroâs disappearance? How would we convince Luke to come back with us? Could we even repair the relationship between Agnes and Antonio? There was a mountain of unresolved issues.
If only we had taken the straightforward route of defeating the Demon King as per protocol, none of these bothersome problems wouldâve arisen. The fact that Seraphine, who had always dealt with such issues, would no longer be here was an especially big problem. For a while, the entire Heroâs party would likely need to coordinate their testimonies and accounts in the Imperial Palace regarding what had happened during the subjugation.
