The school courtyard was unusually quiet that afternoon. Hongjoong sat alone on a bench, the sounds of laughter and chatter from his friends feeling distant. He clutched the latest letter from his secret admirer, the words echoing in his mind.
---
Dear Hongjoong,
I saw you today, sitting alone in the courtyard, lost in your thoughts. You looked a bit sad, and it broke my heart. I wish I could have come over and comforted you, but I'm still working up the courage.
Just know that even when you feel alone, you're not. There's someone who cares deeply for you, even if they're too shy to say it out loud.
With all my heart,
A Secret Admirer
---
Hongjoong sighed, folding the letter carefully and placing it back in his bag. He appreciated the sentiment, but the wait for the reveal was becoming unbearable. The mystery was exciting at first, but now it felt like a burden. He couldn't help but wonder who his admirer was and why they were taking so long to come forward.
---
Meanwhile, Seonghwa watched Hongjoong from a distance, his heart aching at the sight of the usually cheerful boy looking so forlorn. Seonghwaâs friends, Wooyoung, Yeosang, and Yunho, noticed his troubled expression.
"What's wrong, Seonghwa?" Wooyoung asked, nudging him playfully. "Thinking about your Starboy?"
Seonghwa nodded, unable to hide his worry. "Yeah, I saw him sitting alone in the courtyard. He looked really sad."
Yeosang sighed. "Maybe it's time to speed things up. He might be getting tired of waiting."
Yunho put a comforting hand on Seonghwa's shoulder. "You've got to do what feels right, but don't let fear hold you back forever."
---
Later that day, Hongjoong met up with his friends, trying to push his feelings of sadness aside. San, Mingi, and Jongho immediately picked up on his mood.
"What's up, Joong? You look like you've got the weight of the world on your shoulders," San said, offering a sympathetic smile.
Hongjoong forced a smile. "It's nothing, really. Just thinking about the secret admirer."
Mingi raised an eyebrow. "Still no reveal? That's rough, man. I'd be going crazy by now."
Jongho leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms. "Maybe they're just shy. It takes a lot of courage to put yourself out there."
San grinned mischievously. "Or maybe they just like keeping you on your toes. Who knows, maybe one of us is your secret admirer."
Hongjoong rolled his eyes but couldn't help laughing. "Yeah, right. Like you guys could keep a secret that long."
"Hey, you never know," San said with a wink. "We can be very sneaky when we want to be."
---
Back at Seonghwaâs table, the conversation had shifted to more lighthearted topics, but Seonghwaâs thoughts kept drifting back to Hongjoong. Wooyoung, noticing his friend's distraction, decided to lighten the mood.
"Hey, Seonghwa, what do you call a fish with no eyes?" Wooyoung asked, a playful glint in his eye.
Seonghwa looked up, puzzled. "I don't know, what?"
"Fsh!" Wooyoung said, imitating the sound of a fish swimming.
Seonghwa groaned, but the joke did the trick, pulling him out of his gloomy thoughts. "Youâre such an idiot, Wooyoung."
Yeosang laughed. "At least he got you to smile."
Yunho leaned in, a serious look on his face. "But seriously, Seonghwa. Weâre here for you. If you need help figuring out how to reveal yourself, weâve got your back."
---
The school day ended, and Hongjoong found himself back at the courtyard, sitting on the same bench. The sun was beginning to set, casting a golden glow over the school grounds. He took out the letter again, reading it one more time.
---
Dear Hongjoong,
I saw you today, sitting alone in the courtyard, lost in your thoughts.
---
As he read the words, Hongjoong felt a strange sense of comfort. Despite the frustration of not knowing who his admirer was, the letters had become a source of support. They reminded him that someone out there cared deeply for him.
---
Seonghwa, unable to bear seeing Hongjoong sad any longer, decided it was time to take a step forward. That evening, he sat down at his desk, his heart pounding as he began to write another letter.
---
Dear Hongjoong,
I know I said I'd reveal myself soon, but the thought still scares me. I hope you can forgive me for taking a bit longer. I just want to make sure the moment is perfect.
In the meantime, I want to share another secret with you. I love stargazing. There's something magical about looking up at the night sky and knowing that we're all under the same stars. Maybe one day, we can stargaze together.
Yours always,
A Secret Admirer
---
The next morning, Seonghwa carefully placed the letter in Hongjoong's locker, making sure not to get caught. As he walked away, he felt a mixture of anxiety and anticipation, hoping that this letter would give Hongjoong the reassurance he needed.
---
When Hongjoong found the letter, his spirits lifted. He shared it with his friends, who teased him mercilessly but also offered their support.
San read the letter aloud, mimicking a dramatic voice. "Maybe one day, we can stargaze together. Aww, so romantic!"
Mingi nudged Hongjoong playfully. "Looks like you've got a real charmer on your hands."
Jongho smiled, his teasing more gentle. "Whoever they are, they really care about you. Thatâs something special."
Hongjoong laughed, feeling a warmth spread through him. "Yeah, it is. I just hope they reveal themselves soon. I'm dying to know who it is."
"Don't worry, Joong," San said with a grin. "If they take too long, we'll stage an intervention and hunt them down for you."
"Yeah," Mingi chimed in. "We'll be your secret admirer detectives."
---
As the day continued, the friends' antics brought much-needed joy and chaos to Hongjoongâs day. During lunch, San and Mingi decided to perform an impromptu skit, pretending to be detectives on the case of the mysterious admirer.
"Detective San, I believe we have a lead on the Secret Admirer case," Mingi said in an exaggerated, serious tone, twirling an imaginary mustache.
San played along, adjusting an imaginary monocle. "Indeed, Detective Mingi. I suspect the culprit might be someone in this very room!"
Jongho rolled his eyes but couldnât help laughing. "You guys are ridiculous."
"Ridiculously fun," San corrected with a wink.
Hongjoong laughed, feeling lighter than he had all week. "Thanks, guys. You always know how to cheer me up."
---
Meanwhile, Seonghwa and his friends were having their own brand of chaos. Wooyoung had decided it was time to give Seonghwa's secret crush a nickname.
"I think we should call him 'Starboy,'" Wooyoung declared, earning a groan from Seonghwa.
"Why Starboy?" Seonghwa asked, already regretting asking the question.
"Because he's your guiding star," Wooyoung said with a smirk. "Plus, you know, stars and all that romantic stuff."
Yeosang and Yunho laughed, joining in the teasing. "Starboy it is," Yunho said. "It's perfect."
Seonghwa buried his face in his hands. "You guys are the worst."
"But you love us anyway," Wooyoung said, slinging an arm around Seonghwa's shoulders.
"Unfortunately, yes," Seonghwa admitted with a small smile.
---
As the day wound down, both Hongjoong and Seonghwa found themselves thinking about each other, surrounded by the laughter and chaos of their friends. The support and love from their friends made the wait a little more bearable, reminding them that they weren't alone in their feelings.
The anticipation of the reveal hung in the air, but for now, they both took comfort in the small moments of joy and connection, knowing that sometimes, the journey was just as important as the destination.
