The school was buzzing with its usual morning energy, students hustling through the hallways, catching up with friends, and gearing up for another day of classes. Hongjoong, however, had an extra bounce in his step, his heart pounding with excitement. He had found another letter from his secret admirer tucked into his bag the previous evening, and this one was different. This one promised a reveal.
---
Dear Hongjoong,
I think it's time. Time for you to know who I am. Time for me to stop hiding and face the truth. I'll reveal myself soon, I promise. Until then, remember that you're loved and admired more than you'll ever know.
Yours truly,
A Secret Admirer
---
Hongjoong couldn't wait to share the news with his friends. He hurried into the cafeteria, where San, Mingi, and Jongho were already seated, chatting and laughing. Hongjoong slid into his seat, unable to hide his grin.
"Guys, you won't believe this!" Hongjoong said, pulling out the letter. "My secret admirer is going to reveal themselves soon!"
San's eyes widened in mock surprise. "Oh, really? The mysterious admirer finally decided to come out of the shadows, huh?"
Mingi leaned in closer, peering at the letter. "Let me see that. Wow, they really are serious about you, Hongjoong."
Jongho smirked. "About time, too. You've been getting these letters for weeks now. I was starting to think it was all just a prank."
Hongjoong shook his head, his excitement undiminished. "No way. These letters are way too heartfelt to be a joke. I just wonder who it could be."
San grinned mischievously. "Maybe it's that quiet kid in the corner of the library, the one who always seems to disappear whenever you walk by."
Mingi chuckled. "Or maybe it's someone from your own class, watching you from a distance, waiting for the perfect moment to confess."
Jongho rolled his eyes. "Or maybe it's someone we all know, someone whoâs been right under our noses this whole time."
Hongjoong laughed, shaking his head. "You guys are impossible. Whoever it is, I'm just glad they're finally going to reveal themselves."
As the day progressed, Hongjoong found it hard to concentrate in class. His mind kept drifting back to the letter, wondering who could possibly be his secret admirer. He found himself glancing around the classroom, trying to guess who it might be. Could it be someone he talked to every day? Or someone who admired him from afar?
During lunch, Hongjoongâs friends continued to tease him, coming up with increasingly ridiculous theories about the identity of his admirer.
"Maybe it's the janitor," San suggested with a straight face. "He's always around, cleaning up after us. What if he's secretly in love with you?"
Mingi snorted. "Or the lunch lady. She does give you extra fries sometimes."
Jongho laughed. "Or maybe it's me! I've been secretly in love with you this whole time, Hongjoong."
Hongjoong rolled his eyes, laughing along with them. "Yeah, right, Jongho. I'm sure it's you."
As the afternoon wore on, Hongjoong's anticipation grew. He couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and nerves. What if his admirer turned out to be someone he never expected? What if it was someone he had overlooked?
By the time school ended, Hongjoong was practically bouncing with excitement. He met up with his friends at their usual spot outside, the late afternoon sun casting long shadows on the ground.
"Okay, guys, place your bets," San said, grinning. "Who do you think the secret admirer is?"
Mingi rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "I'm going with someone from the music club. They always seem to be around when Hongjoong is practicing."
Jongho shook his head. "No way. It's definitely someone from our class. Maybe that quiet girl who sits in the back row."
Hongjoong laughed. "You guys are hopeless. Whoever it is, I just hope they're as sweet in person as they are in their letters."
As they walked home together, their conversation shifted to more mundane topics, but Hongjoong's mind was still on the letter. He couldn't wait to find out who his secret admirer was, and he hoped that the reveal would be as wonderful as the letters had been.
---
That night, as Hongjoong lay in bed, he replayed the day's events in his mind. He thought about the laughter and teasing from his friends, the mystery of his admirer, and the promise of a reveal. He smiled, feeling a warmth spread through him.
Whoever his secret admirer was, they had already won his heart with their words. And soon, he would finally get to meet them. As he drifted off to sleep, Hongjoong felt a sense of excitement and anticipation for what the next day would bring.
