The next day I feel a little better, but not enough to get dressed up or put makeup on. I decide to wear my A&M hoodie, and baggy holey jeans that Scarlett despises, and the thought makes me smile. I do keep my hair down so it can dry out from my shower.
Usually I'm ready before Aiden gets here, but this morning he's outside waiting on me. "Hey." I'm quiet as I climb up to get in. His radio is down low.
"Hey." he says back, and before he pulls out, he kisses me softly on my cheek.
"I can't believe we're about to graduate." I say trying to turn around our mood.
"Right? I'm just glad I made it to graduation." he says, and I roll my eyes, changing the subject.
"This honestly has been the best year of my life. My senior year was more then what I expected it to be." I smile at him, and I can tell that a weight has been lifted off his shoulders when he sees it.
"Mine too." he simply says, lifting my hand up to kiss it. "Mora, I've never thanked you for bringing me out of my shell. I'm honestly the happiest I've ever been. I'm more social with the guys, and made more friends through you. You were my gift this year." he brags on me, and I just make a funny face at him before laughing.
"Thanks babe." I say. "So, how long do we have?" At some point we have to have this talk... why not have it on the way to school.
"Well I'm here... not going anywhere, so that's really your call Mora." his face fills with pain, and emotion. He doesn't want to think about it.
"I'm staying here all summer, and the weekend before school starts I'll head that way. Scarlett's parents have already rented her a condo, so I think she's going a little sooner than me." I say, and it's news to him.
"Scarlett isn't staying in a dorm?" he asks.
"No, she didn't want to, so they rented her a place to stay." I answer, and he looks over at me quickly before putting his eyes back on the road.
"Are you living with her?" he's digging for information, and a part of me wants to lie to see how he reacts, but I can't bring myself to play games with him right now.
"No. She asked me to, but dad said he wants me to stay in the dorms. At least my first year so I can get the experience." I respond, and he takes a short breath. He's satisfied with my answer.
"Well I'm glad we have the summer. That will give us plenty of time to prepare." he says, and it makes me sad thinking about it. I immediately regret bringing it up.
I change the subject quickly. "It's supposed to rain today." I say, and he wrinkles up his nose in disgust.
"I'm so sick of the rain." he cries. "But you know what?"
I look over at him curiously, and the corner of his mouth is trying to not turn up. "What?" I lean my head to the side like a puppy dog.
"We've never kissed in the rain." I can't believe he just said that.
I squeal loudly, and hit his shoulder. "Aiden, I can't believe you just said that!"
He jumps up when I hit him. "What!" he yelps back at me.
"You can't plan a rain kiss Aiden. It's supposed to just happen." My romantic side is so disappointed in him right now. I cross my arms, and purse my lips, when he laughs loudly. "It's not funny!"
"It's a little funny." he mocks me, and I hit him again.
"I'm sorry Mora. I didn't realize how sensitive you were to kissing in the rain at the right moment in the right place, at the right time." he rubs my hands, and I forgive him quickly.
"It's okay." I say, forgiving him as if he really upset me.
Scarlett, Josh, and Shawn are waiting on us in the parking lot when we get to school. When we get out, Josh skates up to us on a skating board.
"Guy's, I have a great idea!" he yells, and I eye him suspiciously while Aiden rolls his eyes at him.
"Yeah?" Aiden replies.
"Let's skip school and go ride go karts again. In-case we never get to do it all together again." he sings, and I'm hesitant until I see Aiden's eyes smile, and Scarlett's begging eyes.
"Yeah, let's do it." I answer, and Aiden and I jump back in his jeep quickly speeding out. Shawn, Scarlett, and Josh follow us out.
"My dad's going to kill me if he finds out." I screech while turned around looking through the back window to make sure they are behind us.
"Ahh Mora. We're practically done with school. I doubt they would do anything about it. I'm sure your dad skipped school once or twice in his time." he reassures me.
"Do you think we have time before the rain comes?" I ask, and pull out my phone to check the radar. It shows that it's about three or four hours away. "We should be good." I answer my own question, and he looks satisfied.
We get there too early, so we decide to get donuts until the Karting complex opens up. "Here." Aiden brings me sprinkle chocolate donut holes. My favorite.
"Thank you." I smile up at him before he sits down next to me. "So Shawn, are you excited about being a longhorn?" I ask.
"Yeah. I'm ready. What about you?" he asks.
"I'm a little sad to be leaving my dad, and..." I swallow deeply. "Aiden." I answer. I assumed they knew, but I was wrong.
"Wait, what do you mean leaving Aiden?" Josh shoots his eyes at Aiden, then back at me. Damn it.
"Aiden, I thought you told him." I regrettably say.
"Nope." he shakes his head. "Bro, I'm sorry. I just found out, and was going to tell you tonight... but my mom needs me to stay here so I'm staying and going to Conroe." he says slowly, and Scarlett comes over to me quickly.
She pulls me into a tight hug. "Are you okay?"
"I will be." is all I mutter while Josh is staring at Aiden.
He puts down his drink. "Why would your mom want you to pass up a chance to play college ball?" he's direct, and I can tell he has no idea what's going on with Aiden's mom. I find myself speaking first.
"He just wants to be close to her because she would be home alone." I feel bad for bringing it up.
"So who am I supposed to dorm with?" he's visibly upset.
"Josh, man I'm sorry. Trust me, if I could go I would. Are you kidding... it's not like I didn't want to go." Aiden breathes in deeply, spinning his cup around. "I'm giving up a scholarship, and my own girlfriend is leaving me here." both of their faces drop in sorrow. Josh is upset but he knows that he should drop it now.
Guys are so different from girls. They talk about it and drop it right then and there, people around or not. Girls have to speak privately and hash out our feelings, and take a few weeks to get over it. Sometimes I resent them for it.
Shawn jumps up out of his chair. "They're open now. Let's go!" He changes the subject, and everyone is grateful.
We have an absolute blast until the rain intervenes, and once we pay, and leave it's pouring. "I need an umbrella!" Scarlett screeches, and we all ignore her, and start sprinting out in it to get to our cars.
Suddenly Aiden stops in his place, and we all run past him until we can get our feet to stop. "What are you doing?" Josh yells back, and Scarlett ignores all of us getting into Josh's car.
"Mora, dance with me!" Aiden steadily strides up to me in the monster rain drops. I shake my head, now soaked from top to bottom. "Oh come on Andrews." he ignores me, and grabs my hands and slowly pulls me side to side, spinning me around in a circle under his arm. The water from my hair splashes on his face. His hair and face are dripping. He's so sexy.
Josh, and Shawn are confused on what to do. I can tell they feel awkward until Scarlett jumps out and breaks Aiden and I up where she's holding both of our hands to dance along.
Suddenly I hear music coming from Shawn's car. He's sitting inside, but staying and watching. Josh joins in, and we're all laughing, and splashing in the puddles as we spin, and twirl around.
A slow song comes on next, and he grabs me up. "I didn't plan it, I promise." he winks at me, and I don't even care if he did or didn't at this point. I get on my tip toes, grabbing the nape of his neck, pulling him in to kiss him. He moves his palm on my cheek down to my waist, and we continue to kiss until Scarlett interrupts us.
"We're leaving, and so should you guys!" she laughs behind her, as they skip away to their car. I noticed Shawn already left leaving only us in the parking lot.
Aiden and I laugh, and then run to his jeep to leave. Once in I blast the heater, and put his seat warmer on. "Babe, do you have any towels in here?" I ask as he pulls off his shirt so he can get dry from the heat vents.
"No, but I have a hoodie, and some gym pants in the back." Now he's pulling his pants off too, and I grab him a pair of pants from his back seat. I swear it's a closet in here.
"Aiden, why do you have all your clothes in here?" I giggle. Trying to focus on anything but his bare chest.
"I was supposed to go play basketball with the guys after school." he responds, and I climb in the back to get out of my wet clothes.
Suddenly I stop, and I start feeling awkward, but I shouldn't. We've been together for eleven months. That's practically a year. I slowly pull my shirt off. I look down and am thankful that I'm wearing my new bra that my mom bought for me last time I was down there and we went shopping. It's a nude color covered in peach lace. I look up, and I see him watching me from his rear-view mirror. I should tell him to stop staring, but I don't.
Next I remove my jeans. I have to yank them side to side because they cling to me from being so wet. My panties don't match, but instead are a bright blue silk. They are trimmed at the top with lace. I move my hair out of my face so I can make sure I'm not putting his sweats on backwards. I consider looking back up at him, but choose against it. I'm not ready for that next level yet.
His clothes hang loose on me, as I climb back up front. I look over to him once I'm comfortable in my seat. He's blushing in silence. "I see why you wanted to dance with me in the rain now." I shoot a sharp smile at him, and he jerks his head at me.
"What?" his face still beat red.
"To get me out of my clothes." I joke to lighten the mood. He grins a bit, and starts the ignition. For someone who's known for getting around, I don't quite understand why he's the one blushing.
I grab his hand, and even though I'm not ready, all I can think about is jumping him, so I turn up his stereo to try and drown out the high of hormones I'm feeling right now.
He takes me home to change into new clothes and then we spend the rest of the day at the mall. I pick out a comforter for my dorm bed, and a cute desk lamp that matches. He made sure to remind me that his lamp was still better. Of course I agreed with him.
