Chapter 1 of 27

Violent Nature

A Whisper Came Through183 words~1 min read

The tulips fell apart today.

Not one of us knew they did not last long.

A stream of water flushed them away,

Ripping petals from stem in a violent nature.

Down the drain, in the can,

Like all efforts ever wasted on trivial things.

I lost a flower today.

In a not so violent nature, I let her go free,

Let the wind carry to her to the next field

That will hold her just as gently as I could.

My claws in her back are not nearly enough,

And nothing ever will be

When the season comes sauntering around.

And the season always comes back.

She will be found again, only lord knows when,

And I will see the deep scars in her spine,

The tears stains on her orange sweater,

And the petals in her watery eyes when we

Finally reunite.

So I lost my flower today,

And half of my heart along with her.

What is left of it beats so violently in her name,

And will never cease its vocation until

I have her back in my arms.
