The dining room fell into silence for a moment.
Meanwhile, Ye Shengxun raised his eyebrows. âWhat had happened? What angered my father, whoâs always kind and tolerant?â
âDad, what is it?â Qin Lan had no idea what it was about, so she smiled and asked.
âGrandpa, donât be angry. Please share with us what happened.â Ye Zhenzhen said in an obedient manner.
Ye Qiao was the only one who remained quiet. Her grandfather was indeed angry, and he was filled with deep wrath. Qin Lanâs trick was so cunning and wicked that she did not deserve to be his daughter-in-law. The old man certainly felt angry and regretful at the same time.
As the head of the family, he needed to help smoothen relationships among the family members. But Qin Lan was no ordinary woman, and she was not a common daughter-in-law either. Her family was working in politics, and her family background was rather influential. It would do the Ye family no good if they ruined their relationship with Qin Lan.
Nonetheless, Grandfather adored Ye Qiao, so he wanted to right the wrong for her.
âXiao Hao!â The old man shouted in a deep voice. The nanny, Aunt Hao, soon rushed toward them from outside of the house. At that moment, Qin Lanâs facial expression changed too. However, she quickly tried to hide her emotions.
Aunt Hao stood in the dining room with her head lowered.
âYe Shengxun, somebody ordered Xiao Hao to add a laxative into Qiao Qiaoâs porridge. Regarding this incident, I must deal with it strictly. Itâs fine if you donât adore my eldest granddaughter, but I adore her! I want to right the wrong which was inflicted upon her!â The old master said and slammed the dining table soon after. He then stood up and went toward the cabinet which was used to place the antique vases and took a laboratory test report from underneath one of the vases.
Ye Shengxun was stunned. He was filled with disbelief for a moment and looked toward Qin Lan subconsciously.
Qin Lan was guilty, but she appeared rather calm. âDad, how could such a thing happen in our house? I donât believe it! Xiao Hao, what happened exactly?â She immediately interrogated Xiao Hao fiercely. She put on a straight face but looked ferocious, just like she was threatening Aunt Hao.
Aunt Hao was frightened by Qin Lan, so she looked down again.
âXiao Hao! Tell us the entire truth clearly now!â The old master commanded Aunt Hao.
âAlright, Old Master...â Aunt Hao still had her head lowered as she answered softly.
âItâs madam. She asked me to put the laxative in Qiao Qiaoâs porridge so that she would suffer from diarrhea and wonât be able to do well during the examination.â While Aunt Hao was talking, she could feel the cold and ferocious glare from Qin Lan, so her voice became softer and softer.
âMadam? Isnât that Qin Lan?â
Ye Shengxunâs facial expression turned bitter too. He tilted his head and looked at Qin Lan coldly.
Meanwhile, Ye Zhenzhen had understood what Aunt Hao had said. âMom used such a good trick! Itâs so cool!â
âWhy are you looking at me, Xiao Hao!? There are three ladies in our family. Who are you referring to?â Qin Lan said sternly, and she was clearly warning Aunt Hao at this time.
âYou!â Aunt Hao braced herself and uttered.
Qin Lan was humiliated on the spot.

At that moment, Ye Shengxun became so angry that he stood up and shouted, âQin Lan! How could you do such a thing?â
âThatâs only Xiao Haoâs side of the story. Just because she claimed it was me, does that mean I really did it?â As Qin Lan said that, she rushed toward Aunt Hao. âXiao Hao! Youâd better tell me the truth. Why are you trying to blame this on me? You are slandering me. Do you know that? I can go to court and file a lawsuit against you! Thereâs no resentment between us. I hardly ever come here. Why do you want to falsely accuse me without any reason? Did someone else order you to do so?â
She stood before Aunt Hao; she wanted to blame it on someone else without admitting to her own crime. In fact, she wanted to blame everything on Ye Qiao. She even blinked her eyes at Aunt Hao to signal her to play along.
Ye Qiao understood Qin Lanâs underlying meaning. She did not react, but her eyes had become teary.
âQin Lan! You donât want to admit to it, do you?â The old master said angrily.
âDad! You canât only listen to her side of the story and conclude that Iâm the one who asked her to do that. Why didnât you doubt that thereâs someone else who asked her to falsely accuse me?â Qin Lan appeared like she would burst into tears at any minute.
âXiao Hao, who exactly ordered you to frame me with such a false accusation?â Qin Lan interrogated Aunt Hao again. Her tone and her facial appearance were truly threatening.
âMadam, itâs Ye Qiao!â At last, Aunt Hao did not manage to take it anymore after being threatened by Qin Lan. She went back on her words.
