Chapter 18 â Song Tingshen: â...â (3)
When Song Tingshen turned around to leave, Ruan Xia called out to stop him, âSong Tingshen, even if you donât believe me. That dream felt really realistic. Do you know why I brought our son here? Itâs because I dreamed that you got into a car accident on the way to the airport. You can believe thereâs something wrong with my brain, but... I really feel uneasy about this.â
Song Tingshenâs calm expression didnât change. Of course, he didnât believe that Ruan Xia was worried about his well-being. But, this explained why Ruan Xia had brought their son over. She didnât have a reason to lie to him.
But, would Ruan Xia really come looking for him and bring their son along because of a dream?
Song Tingshen still felt skeptical about this.
Ruan Xia didnât give him the impression of someone that would be affected by a dream.
âWhat is that you want me to do because of this dream?â Song Tingshen asked.
Ruan Xia thought; Song Tingshenâs death in the novel might have genuinely been an accident. So, she could only say, âJust go along with my itinerary. Once we get back home, itâll be fine.â
Song Tingshen looked at her. He nodded. âOkay.â
After seeing Song Tingshen go back to his room, Ruan Xia closed her door. The chubby kid was lying on her bed in a seductressâs pose and looking at her. âMom, come over here and sleep with me.â
Ruan Xia: â...â
As the two of them lied on the bed, the chubby kid told her stories about his nursery school. Ruan Xia absently-mindly listened. After about half an hour passed, he trailed off into silence. The chubby kid had fallen asleep. Ruan Xia tucked the blanket around him, then she stepped onto the carpet with bare feet and stood before the floor-to-ceiling windows.
Although knowing the novelâs plot was a cheat, she had been reading novels for a long time and had come to a conclusion: the plot couldnât be changed.
Right now, she desperately wanted to change the plot, but her interference might cause unforeseen misfortune.
All along, she had treated Song Tingshen as a character in the novel. But, when he finally stood before her and talked to her with that unenthusiastic expression, she realized that she had been wrong. He wasnât a thing that only existed in the lines of a novel. He was a real person.
It was then that Ruan Xia searched her soul. She didnât view herself as a kind-hearted person, and sometimes her moral code wasnât that great either. However, her upbringing told her that she couldnât stand by and do nothing when she knew he was going to die.
Knowing that he was going to die if the plot wasnât changed, she couldnât remain indifferent.
And so, even at the risk of her life and the chubby kidâs life, she didnât immediately leave.
She hoped that since the heavens had brought her here to become the novelâs Ruan Xia, they would also give her and the other two a way out of this predicament and to continue living.
She really hoped that everything was simply unnecessary worrying on her part.
