chapter two

Alex arrived at the Gilbert house right at 3:00, just like Elena asked. Alex was never a fan of arriving places late, she either liked to be on time or just 'fashionably' early. when she walked up to the door it was wide open, which she found quite odd, but the smell of smoke led her to realize that the cooking Elena and her friends were doing wasn't going as well as they planned.
"Elena?" Alex called out, peeking her eyes through the door to make sure the girl was actually there.
"come in!" she heard the doppelganger shout from somewhere in the house. Alex hesitantly took a step into the house and just like that, no more magical barrier blocking her from entering.
"Alex, hey" Elena smiles and walks over to Alex. "these are my best friends Bonnie and Caroline. Bonnie and Caroline, this is Alex. Tyler and I met her at the grill a couple days ago" she says, grabbing the crock pot and putting it on the island in the kitchen.
Alex sits next to Bonnie, "so this is the famous Caroline, Tyler talks about you all the time... and Bonnie, it's nice to see another gorgeous Bennett face"
Caroline glares, "really? because i've never heard him speak about you once" she says bitterly, her tone full of jealousy causing Alex to glare at the young vampire.
"so, the problem with my dad's normal side of the family is normal made for a really boing summer" Bonnie speaks changing the topic.
"after the last few days, I would kill for a normal family," Caroline looked over at Elena who starting cooking on the stove, "since when did you lean how to cook?"
Elena glared at the blonde, "Damon helped me a little" she says pouring the chili into the pot.
Alex scoffed, "i'm sorry did I hear correctly? Damon helps you cook?" in the years she had known the Salvatore's Damon never cooked. he always made Alex or someone else cook for him.
"oh stop judging. he's just trying to be a good- ah!" Elena cut herself off by gasping and holding her chest in pain.
"did i splash you?" Caroline says putting her pot down.
"no, no, my necklace" Elena says tearing the necklace away from her skin where it left a make in the shape of a circle in the middle of her chest, "it burned me"
"maybe it's a sign you shouldn't be wearing it" Caroline shrugs causing Bonnie to scold her, "what? i'm just saying. if you're gonna be cooking without Stefan..." she trails off and Alex looks at the necklace confused.
"that necklace... i've seen it before. let me see it" Alex says and Elena hands it to her. when she touched it, it shocked her and an image of a young blonde girl dressed from the viking ages with a younger brunette appeared in her mind.
Rebekah.
a 14 year old Aleksandra and her older sister Rebekah stood in their family friend Ayana's home, looking at her necklaces that hung near the window.
"look at that one, bekah" Aleksandra said pointing towards the one in the middle. Rebekah holds it, admiring the beauty of it before getting burned and pulling back immediately.
"Ayana, you burned me" she says turning towards the witch.
Ayana walked forward, "that is not yours to touch" she says. soon they heard screaming from outside causing the sisters to grow worried.
"is that Niklaus?" the younger Mikaelson asked, confused, causing her sister's eyes to widen. the screams grow louder,"something is wrong" she says pulling her sister with her and running outside.
"Henrik!" "mother!" Rebekah and Niklaus yell at the same time. Aleksandra gasps as she sees Niklaus set her twin on the ground, his body covered in blood and his shirt ripped open. everyone runs over to them and soon their mother arrives.
"no. no. what happened?" their mother, Ester cries knelling in front of her youngest son. Aleksandra does the same and holds her twins hand with tears in her eyes.
"the wolves" Niklaus cries falling to the ground causing Ester to gasp. Niklaus curls up into a ball and Rebekah wraps an arm around her older brother, "I'm sorry... I'm so sorry"
Aleksandra looks up at Ayana with tears in her eyes,"we must save him. please, there must be a way!" she pleads, trying to hold her twin, Hendrik. one of their older brothers, Elijah soon comes over and sits with them, holding onto his youngest sister, Aleksandra, as she held onto Henrik.
"the spirits will not give us a way. your boy is gone" Ayana says and Ester looks at her friend heartbroken.
Aleksandra gasps, more tears falling down her face. she holds onto her twins hand and bruhes his hair out of his face, "no! please, Hendrik, don't leave me!" she cried. no pain was greater than this, the loss of her twin brother, her best friend. Niklaus breaks down sobbing, blaming himself for the death of his youngest sibling.
Alex awoke on the ground, Elena and her friends surrounding her. Bonnie handed her a cold rag to wipe the sweat from her face, "Alex, are you okay? what happened? your eyes glowed and you fainted"
the heretic stood up and dusted herself off. it was another memory resurfacing, "i'm fine, but I must go"
Elena glaced towards her friends as the heretic vamp sped out of the house, "what the hell is she?"

the next day, Elena dragged Alex to the senior prank at the school with her since Alex was going to school with them that year. Alex was stubborn, but after some time she willingly tagged along to make her new friend happy. the heretic was in the gym, watching people put cups on the floor as she waiting for Tyler to come so they could put fake bodies under the bleachers. meanwhile Elena was in quite the predicament.
"you've put a large kink in my plans, sweetheart. the point of breaking the curse and becoming a hybrid was to make more hybrids. i haven't been able to do that. now, i bet it has something to do with the fact that you're still breathing" Klaus says dragging Elena by her arm around the school.
"if you're going to kill me, do it" she glared trying to seem tough but in reality she was terrified.
"not until i know i'm right. but i do have ways of making you suffer" he smirks and pushes her into the gym where he tells the seniors to leave by talking in an american accent and pretending he was a teacher.
"well, what do we have here" Alex says walking out from behind the bleachers.
"Alek, darling. did you miss me?" Klaus smirks causing the girl to roll her eyes.
"of course. never a dull moment with you, Nik" Alex laughs sarcastically, walking over to them.
Elena furrowed her brows, "how do you know each other? where's Stefan? what did you do to him?" she asks, feared of Klaus. Alex perked up at the mention of the youngest Salvatore brother, he hadn't seen that face in years.
"Stefan's in a time-out" he says just as the doors open to Bonnie and Matt walking in.
"Bonnie get out of here!" Elena yells as Klaus vamp speeds over to her.
"i was wondering when you'd show up. now we can get started. I assume you're the reason Elena's still alive" he says glaring at the witch.
Bonnie stands confidently, "that's right. if you wanna blame someone, blame me"
"there's no need for blame. your witchy interference seems to have caused some undesirable side effects and since you caused the problem, i'm gonna have you find the fix" he smiles and a familiar girl walks in holding Tyler's hands behind his back. Alex sighs as she knows what's happening next won't be good, "I'd like you all to meet my sister. Rebekah. a word of warning, she can be quite mean" Klaus says causing the blonde to glare at him.
Alex scoffed, "that would be an understatement. she's a bitch most of the time" she then glares at Rebekah as she holds the struggling Tyler.
"of course you're here, Alex. following Klaus around like a lost puppy" Rebekah says.
"i think you've got it mixed up, love. you're the one who's been on his tail for the past 900 years, i've been occupied trying to save myself" Alex smiles. after Alex reunited with them 600 years ago, the two sisters feuded often. Rebekah rolls her eyes and shoves Tyler towards Klaus.
"leave Tyler alone" Elena demands and Klaus drags him in front of everyone.
"i'm gonna make this very simple. every time I attempt to turn a werewolf into a vampire hybrid, they die during the transition. it's quite horrible, actually" he says then bites his wrist and feeds Tyler his blood. Tyler struggles against his grip but Klaus holds him still, "I need you to find a way to save my hybrids, Bonnie. and for Tyler's sake, you better hurry" Klaus immediately then snaps Tyler's neck and everyone gasps except for Rebekah and Alex who bites her lip.
after a few moments of staring at the dead werewolf Alex speaks up, "Niklaus, was that really necessary?"
"I will do anything if it means getting what I want" he states.

Klaus and Rebekah were now sitting on the bleachers watching everything. Matt sits down next to his best friend in shock, "he killed him"
"not exactly. Klaus' blood will turn him into a vampire" Alex declares looking down at the for now dead werewolf with pursed lips. she hated to admit it, but she had a soft spot for the werewolf.
"and if Bonnie's successful he'll live through his transition. go on. go fetch your grimoires and enchantments and whatnot. i'll hold on to Elena for safe keeping" Klaus says smirking.
Bonnie hesitates but Alex speaks, "don't worry Bonnie, i'll make sure he behaves" she says glaring at Klaus and Bonnie nods, dragging Matt with her elsewhere.
Rebekah eyed Elena up and down, "so this is the latest doppelgänger. the original one was much prettier"
Alex smirks,"please, we all know i'm the prettier Petrova" Rebekah hated it when Alex called herself a Petrova.
"you're not even a real Petrova!" Rebekah shouts in anger.
"wait what-" Elena asks confused, but Klaus interrupts her.
"take the wolf-boy elsewhere, would you, Rebekah? Alex, why don't you go with her" Klaus says nodding towards the door.
"no, I told Bonnie I would-"
"i don't care. go" she sighed in defeat and dragged Tyler out with Rebekah. they walk to where Caroline was laying on the ground. she obviously had her neck snapped.
Rebekah was on Elena's phone sitting up against the lockers and Alex was sitting next to her when Caroline began to wake up.
"good morning sleeping beauty, did you have a good nap?" Alex smirked. the girl had a strong hatred for Alex which made her want to annoy her even more.
"we didn't have mobile telephones in my day. would have made life a whole lot easier, i suppose" Rebekah says and moves the camera in front of her and Alex and they take a selfie.
"where's Tyler?" Caroline groans.
"he's dead...ish" Rebekah shrugs pointing towards where Tyler laid.
Caroline crawled over to him, "what did you do to him?"
"he's taking a power nap, but when he wakes up he'll be a hybrid" Alex says her and Rebekah look through Elena's pictures. they scroll to see one of her and Stefan. Rebekah zooms in and gasps
"is that my necklace?" she whispers. she stands up and walks to Caroline, "why is that doppelgänger bitch wearing my necklace?"
"where is my necklace?" Rebekah yells as she and Alex walk into the gym.
Alex noticed that Stefan had came since they left and she froze once she saw him. he looked the same as he did when she last saw him. they hadn't talked since 1864, but she did check up on him over the years along with Damon. Stefan noticed the girls gaze and turned to her, making eye contact, and shock covering his features. he hadn't seen her in nearly 150 years. he thought she was dead this entire time. he watched her die right in front of him.
"what are you talking about?" Klaus asks annoyed. both Alex and Stefan snapped out of their gaze and paid attention to the quarrel.
"she has my necklace. look!" she hands her brother the phone and he zooms in on the picture.
"well, well. more lies"
"where is it?" Rebekah says to Elena through gritted teeth.
"i don't have it anymore" she declares, her heart racing.
"you're lying!" Rebekah then bites into her neck and Klaus pulls her off sending Elena to the ground.
"knock it off!" he growls.
"make her tell me when it is, Nik!"
Klaus sighs and turns to Elena, leaning to be her height, "where's the necklace sweetheart? be honest"
Alex walks over to them, "just tell them, Elena. we don't want anyone else dead"
"i'm telling the truth. Katherine stole it" Elena says holding her wound.
"well that's unfortunate. if we had the necklace it'd make things a lot more easier for your witch. since we're doing this the hard way, let's put a clock on it shall we?" Klaus walks over to a table and sets the gym timer for 20 minutes., "if Bonnie doesn't find a solution in 20 minutes, I want you to feed again. only this time i want you to feed on Elena" he compels Stefan and smirks.
"if she tries to run away, fracture her spine" Klaus says, walking away with Rebekah hot on his trail. Alex stays still, stealing one last glance towards the young Salvatore, before following her siblings.

Alex, Rebekah, and Caroline were sitting in a science lab waiting for Tyler to wake up. with 3 minutes left on the timer he finally woke up.
"where am I?what happened?" he asks looking around frantically trying to catch his breath.
"Klaus is turning you into a vampire, a hybrid. you're in transition" Caroline says and he looks at them shocked.
"don't leave out the hard parts. you'll only survive if Bonnie is successful. if not, you'll die" Alex states rubbing his arm causing Caroline to glare at her in jealousy.
"you're going to be okay" Caroline says trying to sooth Tyler.
"I wonder how she's doing" Rebekah says showing the others the timer, "tick tick goes the gym clock"
a couple seconds later Klaus walks in, "well the verdicts in. The Original Witch says the doppelgänger should be dead" he says walking up to Tyler.
"does that mean we can kill her?" Rebekah asks walking up to them.
"no. it means the opposite" Klaus says. Rebekah glares and grabs onto Caroline, "call it a hunch" he leans on the table and looks at Tyler.
"Elena's blood. drink it" Klaus hands Tyler the tube of the doppelgänger' blood.
"no! Tyler don't!" Caroline screams trying to break free from the originals grasp.
"if he doesn't feed he'll die anyway, love. consider this an experiment" Klaus says. Tyler looks up at Alex who was sitting beside him.
"it's okay. if something goes wrong i'm sure there's a spell i know that can help you" she whispers to him. he hesitates before struggling to sit up and grabbing the tube from Klaus. he drinks it but immediately starts shaking and falls to the ground.
Caroline screams and Alex rushes to him kneeling in front of him, "hey, Tyler. Tyler!" she yells, trying to grab the spazzing boy and calm him down. he groans and the blood drops from his mouth. he gets on his knees and holds his head and screams in pain.
Alex rubs his back and tries to calm him down. he sits on his hands and knees breathing heavily before he looks up and growls. his eyes a golden color, veins crawling down his cheeks and fangs popping out.
Alex sighs and sits back, "well, that's a good sign"
