He leaned forward, not breaking eye contact, and we stared into each other's eyes for what felt like an eternity. There was something captivating about his gaze, perhaps the way it sparkled with a mixture of mischief and something deeper. I could sense his happiness, though he always masked it beneath a façade of bravado, playing the role of the rebellious playboy. But beneath that surface, I caught glimpses of a different side—one that was considerate, almost tender.

It was as if his eyes were a window to his soul, revealing a depth of emotion he rarely expressed through words. I could see it; he cared—deeply—even if he pretended otherwise. In those moments, it felt like his eyes were speaking louder than any reckless comment or playful smirk he ever made.

"I can't stop looking at how beautiful you look every time I see you," he said, his voice low and sincere. Those words sent a flutter through my stomach and raced my heart.

"Can you just stay still and let me just..." he continued, leaning in closer, and my breath hitched in my throat. I froze, caught in the electric moment between us. Our lips were just inches apart, and I could see him licking his own lips, his gaze locked on mine.

Before I could process the whirlwind of thoughts racing through my mind, Amelia's voice broke the spell. "Ugh, what are you guys doing?" she asked, her tone both playful and accusatory. I jolted upright, startled, and shot a quick glance at her, trying to regain my composure.

"Oh, uh... He was just... uh... blowing something off from my eye," I stammered, and Amelia raised an eyebrow, placing her hands on her hips.

"Sure," she replied, a smirk creeping across her face. "By the way, we're heading to bed now, so you two need to lock up before you sleep," she added, her tone suggesting she knew exactly what had just transpired.

"Sure," I said, nodding as Amelia retreated back into the beach house. I turned to Cayden, who had returned to a casual pose, as if nothing had happened.

Once inside the beach house, I noticed the others were already fast asleep. I wandered into the kitchen, craving a late-night snack, and settled on some popcorn as I prepared to binge-watch horror movies on Netflix before drifting off to sleep.

Cayden joined me on the couch, grabbing the remote from my hand. "I'll choose the movie," he declared, and I shrugged, grabbing a handful of popcorn.

We settled in to watch The Babadook. I had never watched a horror movie with anyone before, especially not at 2:35 AM in a dimly lit living room. It was a mix of cozy and unsettling—especially with Cayden's commentary.

"Ugh, this movie is boring," he said, tossing back a handful of popcorn. "It's not even scary enough to qualify as horror." His dissection of the film was relentless, as he criticized the actors and their performances.

I covered my eyes with the popcorn bowl during the jump scares, and when he grabbed the bowl from me, I resorted to hiding behind a blanket.

After the movie ended—leaving me too scared to move—I turned to Cayden, pleading, "Just come with me to the bathroom. You don't have to go in, just stand outside."

"Well, I can assist you and watch you pee," he winked, his smirk making me roll my eyes.

"Never mind, I'll just go by myself," I decided, leaving the safety of the living room for the eerie silence of the hallway. My mind spiraled with all the horror tropes I had just watched, and I felt a shiver run down my spine as I pushed open the bathroom door.

After doing my business, I approached the sink to wash my hands, when suddenly, Cayden appeared in the reflection behind me. "Boo!" he exclaimed, making me jump and drop the soap. I spun around, punching him lightly in the chest.

"You freak!" I shot back, but he only laughed, rolling his eyes playfully. As I turned to leave, I slipped, and before I knew it, he caught me just in time, preventing me from hitting the cold tile floor.

"You need to be careful, you know. It's a good thing I'm here," he said, his voice softer now. I looked into his eyes, momentarily forgetting everything else.

"Thanks," I replied, brushing off the strange thoughts that swirled in my mind. We made our way back to the living room, where we decided to start another movie. This time, it was Love Actually—one of my all-time favorites.

Halfway through the film, I felt my eyelids growing heavy. Despite my best efforts to stay awake, I found myself dozing off, only to be stirred by Cayden's gentle nudging. "Just sleep already," he said, a warm smile on his face.

"I'm going to finish this movie," I insisted, shaking my head defiantly. He shrugged, and I returned to my peaceful watch, feeling a strange comfort in his presence.

At some point, I drifted off to sleep, feeling warmth envelop me. I stirred slightly, stretching my limbs, only to realize that I was hugging something—no, someone. Blinking against the early morning light, I recognized Cayden beside me. He held me tightly, our bodies pressed together as if we were two puzzle pieces fitting perfectly.

"Wow, you guys look comfortable right now," a voice broke through the haze of sleep. I turned my head to see Amelia, a teasing glint in her eyes.

"Don't tell me you guys did something last night," Noah chimed in, and I felt heat rush to my cheeks. I scrambled to sit up, desperately trying to disentangle myself from Cayden's hold.

"Wake up, you little freak," I shouted, poking his shoulder insistently. He groaned, eyes flying open in shock, and rolled off the couch, landing with a soft thud on the floor.

"Seriously?" he muttered, rubbing his eyes, and I couldn't help but roll my own eyes at his dramatics.

I stood up and glanced at Amelia and Noah, who wore expressions of barely concealed amusement. I felt my face flush as I dashed into the other room, wishing to hide from the world. I quickly locked the door behind me, falling against it and covering my face with my hands.

That was beyond embarrassing. I needed to recover.

After regaining my composure, I grabbed a towel and made my way to the bathroom to brush my teeth and wash my face. The splash of cold water felt refreshing, though my mind replayed the earlier scene with Cayden over and over again.

Just as I was about to leave the room, I heard a knock on the door. "Open the door, it's me," Amelia's voice came through, and I took a deep breath before twisting the doorknob.

"Aren't you going to eat breakfast outside?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Oh, yeah. Give me a minute, and I'll follow you," I replied, and she nodded before disappearing down the hallway. I let out a sigh of relief and finally allowed myself to smile at the absurdity of it all.

As I stepped outside, I saw the others gathered for breakfast. Ethan and Logan were busy cooking bacon and eggs, the delicious aroma wafting through the air. I didn't see Cayden, and a part of me was relieved; I could eat in peace without facing the embarrassing memory of waking up next to him.

I settled beside Amelia and accepted the plate of food Ethan handed me, my stomach grumbling in appreciation. The food was delightful, and I savored every bite while trying to ignore Cayden's presence.

Soon after finishing my meal, I stood to head back inside, but Ethan called after me. "Aren't you going to join us later?"

"For what?" I asked, looking over my shoulder.

"We're heading to the beach to swim!" James added, and I felt a rush of excitement. "Yeah, I'll definitely join," I said, nodding enthusiastically before retreating to my room.

"Get changed!" Amelia shouted, and I nodded in compliance.

I entered the kitchen first to grab a water bottle from the fridge, gulping down the cold liquid to refresh myself. Then I headed back to my room, closed the door, and opened my closet to find a swimsuit.

After a few moments of rummaging, I pulled out the one-piece swimsuit Amelia and I had bought before our trip. I stripped off my clothes and slipped it on, feeling a mixture of confidence and nerves as I glanced at my reflection in the mirror.

Next, I tied my hair into a ponytail, something I hadn't done in ages. It felt freeing, almost as if I was shedding my inhibitions along with my long locks. Amelia burst in just as I finished, giving me a nod of approval.

"That suits you better," she said, and I smiled back, appreciating her compliment.

Moments later, we both stepped outside, and I could see the guys applying sunscreen as they prepared for the beach. I placed my towel on a chair beside Amelia's and watched as Noah's eyes followed her movements, making her blush.

"Y-You lo...look great," Noah stammered, and I couldn't help but chuckle at how cute they were together.

Ethan approached me with that easy smile of his, and I felt a rush of excitement. I slipped off my bathrobe, letting the warm sun hit my skin. "Let's go swimming!" I exclaimed, practically bouncing on my toes. I waved my hands in front of Logan and Cayden, who were both momentarily distracted.

"Uh, guys?" I said, trying to catch their attention.

"Yeah, yeah. We should," Logan replied, shaking off whatever had momentarily occupied his mind. I smiled at him, feeling a little thrill at the idea of diving into the ocean.

But Cayden... he was still staring at me, his gaze a mix of surprise and something deeper that I couldn't quite place. I nudged his shoulder, and he blinked rapidly as if trying to shake off a daydream.

"Hey," I said, trying to get a reaction from him.

"By the way, you look pretty when you tie your hair like that," Ethan added, his compliment making me blush. I couldn't help but smile back at him, a flutter of warmth spreading through me. I watched as he turned and headed toward the beach, his confidence apparent as he strode off to greet the waves.

Just as I was about to follow, I felt a sudden tug at my hair. I turned quickly, only to see Cayden grinning mischievously as he yanked the hair tie from my ponytail. My hair fell around my shoulders in a wild cascade.

"Hey!" I shouted, half amused and half annoyed, as Cayden took off towards the water.
