Chapter 81
She walked into the schoolâs office and smiled at the woman behind the desk. âExcuse me, my name is Lilianna Lincoln and I was wondering if I could speak to Principal Dora about something.â
The woman smiled back at her and held up a finger. âOne second. Let me make sure itâs okay.â
A few moments later the door behind the desk opened and Principal Dora stood there. She beckoned to Lily who hurried inside her office. Principal Dora shut the door and sat back in her chair.
âLilianna, honey, is everything okay?,â she asked, concerned.
éå
Lily nodded. âYes, I was just wondering about my credits and if it were possible to graduate early? I know I will have to work harder than most students,
but Iâm willing to do whatever I need to do to finish at the end of next year. I donât want to have to leave the school, because I love it, but I will if canât finish at the end of next year.â
The principal sat back, smiling. âIs this about Lukas, dear?â
Lily flushed and looked away. âMaybe.â
The door opened behind Lily and she jumped. She glanced over her shoulder to see the receptionist walking in with a stack of papers nestled in manila envelope. She set it in front of the principal, bowed to Lily and left. Principal Dora opened the envelope and began to read the papers inside. She leaned back in her chair as she studied the papers, before shutting the folder.
âSo, fitting 2 and a half years into a year and a half is going to require a lot of extra work, but this is what I will do for you. Take summer school thist year and next. This summer you will take your junior english, history, science and math, so that next year during the year, you can take your senior courses. For your gym credits, I will allow you to do clan training. For your electives, I assume you will be taking art?â Lily nodded. âThatâs what I thought. That will be the only class we will have to figure out. I will need to talk to Felix to see if thereâs anything he can do to help you get that last class credit. Also, you will have to take health class all next year and the last half credit next summer, but that will be your only credit you have left to
do next summer.â
She started searching on her computer for something, before looking at Lily. âYou need 4 other elective credits. You can choose any of the ones we offer or you can take any college level course we offer after school for seniors. You can take up two of those a year, one remaining this year as they are semester long courses. You do also have an unclaimed period for next school year. So, you can fill it with whatever course you would like.â She raised an eyebrow. âHow does that sound?â
Lily sat silent as she thought about it. She bit her lip. Was this really what she wanted to do? She reached up to play with her necklace. The sparks that raced over her skin made her melt inside. She sighed happily
âThat sounds amazing. Thank you.â
The door opened again and the receptionist walked in. She handed Dora a couple of pamphlets and left. She handed them to Lily.
âThese are the courses offered after school. Please, go over them and let me know which one you would like to take before winter break.â
Lily looked down at the pamphlets in her hand. She began to flip through them, stopping at the child psychology one. She set the others back on the principalâs desk.
âI want to take the child psychology course, please.â
Principal Dora nodded as she reached for her phone. âI will get you enrolled. Is there anything else?â
âNo, maâam. Thank you.â
âI will let you know what Felix says. Get back to class and stop back here after school.â
âHave a good day.â
âYou, too, honey.â
Lily stood
up to leave as Principal Dora began to dial a number. Lily skipped happily back to her class. She sat down and Margaret handed her a stack of papers. She slowly worked her way through them, almost too excited to focus. She turned her papers in and was dismissed from the class, She wandered towards the library and halfway there she bumped into Kenny. He eyed her.
Chapter B1
âWhat
you up to, Lily?â
âI was headed to the library. What are you doing?â
âSkipping class. I hate math.â
Lily giggled. âWanna come with me? I could use some company.â
âSure.â
He fell into step beside her. She leaned her head against his shoulder.
âIâm glad weâre friends again, Kenny. You were being kind of a dick.â
He laughed. âWell, Iâm sensitive.â
She giggled. âWill you help me find something?â
âWhat are
are we looking for?â
âEverything we can on the trio. I wanted to do research on themâ¦â
He eyed her. âDonât you live with two of them? Iâm sure you can just ask them.â
âI.. donât want them to know Iâm n
researching them.â
He rolled his eyes. âThis is about King Lukas, isnât it? Heâs the only one whoâs not really aroundâ
She blushed. âYeah â
He pointed to a section of books off to the right. âThose are all about King Lukas. The next row is Queen Sasha and the row after that is Iâll just sit here and watch you choose books. Iâll help you carry them out.â
She gave him a quick hug, before dashing towards the books.
She gave
âMISS LINCOLN, NO RUNNING IN THE LIBRARY!â
Queen Kalani
Lily slowed, flushing as Kenny laughed behind her. She ran her fingers over the spines, searching for one that grabbed her attention. She picked one up to look down at the leather bound book. The Bringer of Death: King Lukas Lincoln She turned the book over in her hands. Seeing his title didnât bring the same terror and panic she had once felt. She hugged the book to her chest. She was going to learn all about him and his kingdoms, so that when she took her place, she was not a liability to him. She settled into the seat next to Kenny and proudly displayed her book for him to see. He raised an eyebrow at her, but didnât comment. She turned the cover to run her fingers over the title page. She glanced at Kenny,
âCan I ask you something?â
âAre you afraid of the king?â
He nodded. âEverybody is. I heard heâs been less tolerant lately. My parents say that a few years ago he changed. Rumor is that he has a mate that doesnât want him. Everyone knows he has a mate, but nobody knows who. Well, thereâs rumors about who she is, but my parents say that a man like that would claim his mate, but not broadcast who she was.â
Lilyâs heart sank. He didnât want anybody to know who she was? He claimed her, but not when she wasnât around, was he ashamed of her?
âLily, are you okay?â
âYes. Why?,â she lied.
âYou stopped breathing.â
She turned the next page. âWhy wouldnât he broadcast who she was?â
Chapter 81
âIf I was king, I wouldnât tell anybody who my mate was either if they werenât by my side. I would worry that someone would take them and hurt them. My parents said she would be in danger.â He shrugged. âI wonder if he has her hidden in his castle until she wants to be his mate. Donât you think that would be so romantic? The man is fine. Imagine it youâre in the closet and he opens the door, naked with a towel-â
Lily slammed the book closed and jumped to her feet. Her fists were balled and he stopped talking.
âYou should try not to fantasize about the king! If he were to find out, you would be punished
She picked the book up p and stormed off to check it out. He chased after her to grab her elbow
âLily, whatâs wrong? I was just jokingâ
She pulled away from him as the librarian scanned the book and her id. Her body tensed.
âLeave me alone, Kenny,â
She ran out of the library when the librarian handed her the book. She was stopped by Felix as she walked by after the last bell. He gave her a smile.
âHey, Lily, have you spoken to the principal yet?â
âNo. Why?â
âI told her I would give you credit next year for two art classes as long as you were able to do assignments for both classes. I will allow you to do them at home and bring them to me.â
She threw her arms around the teacher. âOh my Goddess, thank you.â
He awkwardly patted her shoulder. âNo problem, Lilianna. You can go ahead and go home. I will let Principal Dora know I spoke to you.â
âSee you tomorrow!â
Lily dashed away as she saw Kenny trying to get to her. She sprinted off campus, before letting Gemma take her home, Last thing she had to do was talk to Aiden and Sasha about doing official clan training. She groaned. They werenât going to like that and she wasnât going to tell them why. Maybe she wouldnât tell them. Maybe she would just show up to the training. She groaned. They were going to be mad either way, but it was nobodyâs business why she was doing what she was doing. She licked her lips. She was going to have Sasha talk to Lucyâs adopted family, because when school was over, she wanted her back full time. She wanted her life the way it was supposed to be and she would be damned if anything got in her way.
