Menu How did I end up here, suddenly part of a family? My whole life, Iâd been told I had no one. Now I was supposedly part of an alpha bloodline?
Magnus looked older than me, probably around Kaneâs age- maybe three or four years my senior.
He carried himself with natural grace. The way he spoke to me felt genuinely warm, but how could I trust what he was saying?
As if sensing my unease, he changed the subject. âAre you in any pain, Avalon?â
I froze.
Avalon?
Who was he talking about?
Clearly, he had the wrong person.
I pushed his hand away from my head. âSee? This proves itâs impossible. Youâve got me mixed up with someone else. Iâm not your sister. Iâm not Avalon. Iâm Selene.â
He studied me for a moment. When I tried to pull out my IV, he gently stopped me.
âYou have a birthmark on your arm,â he said, looking at my hand.
I paused, meeting his gaze.
âWhat? I donât see any birthmarks. I donât have any...â
â
A thought struck me, making me hesitate before adding, âWell, I might have some new marks. I got pretty beat up running through the woods. That must be what youâre seeing.â
I tried explaining that he was mistaken.
But then I noticed something strange â those injuries hadnât left any marks.
How had they vanished so quickly?
I turned to him, confused.
âHâHow did they heal?â
âTake it easy,â he said softly.
âEasy? How can I take it easy? My wounds just disappeared like they never existed!â I checked my right foot where the thorn had stabbed me.
Nothing. Not even a scratch!
âYou have advanced healing abilities â thatâs why you donât see external scars. But I can see them, including your birthmark.â
I fell silent, stunned.
âIs he telling the truth? Could I really be his sister?â It was overwhelming.
âIâm going to call Mom and Dad,â he announced suddenly.

Menu Magnus wiped away my tears and pulled me into a hug. In his arms, I felt something Iâd never felt before â I felt home.
âWeâve been searching for you forever. You have no idea how happy theyâll be.â
Finally accepting he was my brother, I hugged him back, sobbing into his chest. As he stroked my hair comfortingly, he asked what had happened to me.
He wanted to know where Iâd been all these years and about my pregnancy.
Looking down, I answered, âI divorced my husband.â
âWhoâs your exâhusband?â he asked.
âKane Thorne.â
His eyebrows knitted together. I figured he probably knew Kane as a future alpha.
âTell me everything. I want to know your whole story.â
Through tears, I told him everything.
âIâm so sorry, sis. Theyâll pay for this,â he promised.
âMagnus, please donât.â
âNo. The Alpha family will suffer ten times what they did to you,â he growled.
I pleaded with him.
âFor my babiesâ sake, donât do anything. I donât want Kane knowing about his children.â
He took a moment to calm himself before saying, âFine, I wonât act. But you need to take your rightful place as the Alphaâs daughter.â
