Chapter73 Kane âKane, should we cancel the pack meeting?â Beta Finn asked.
I stared at the folder on my desk, lost in thought.
Get 5 = Menu For months now, the Iron Crown Pack had been stealing our projects. Despite my teamâs best efforts, we kept losing bids to them. While I dominated other pack meetings, whenever Iron Crown was involved, we fell short.
Word had spread about their new CEO â Alpha Malcolmâs longâlost daughter, Avalon Hawthorne. Heâd passed over his son, Alpha Magnus, to give her control.
I couldnât wrap my head around how this woman had managed to snatch so many of our projects in just a few months. Her business sense was undeniable, but it felt personal â she specifically targeted projects I wanted.
Why?
âKane,â Finnâs voice pulled me from my thoughts.
I rubbed my forehead. âWhat?â
âDid you hear me about canceling the pack meeting?â
âIs Iron Crown sending anyone?â
He shook his head. âNo. Shadow Ridge Pack will visit them for their presentation, just like theyâre scheduled to see ours.â
âCancel it,â I muttered.
Finn studied me for a moment.
âYou okay?â
âDo I look okay? Iâm sick of that pack. First Axel, then Alpha Magnus, and now this new CEO. Bunch of cowards â they never face me directly, just steal deals behind my back.â
Finnâs chuckle earned him a glare.
âSomething funny?â
He leaned forward, hands on my desk.
âLook, weâve been friends forever, even though youâre my Alpha. This project isnât makeâorâbreak for us anymore â youâve built us up too strong for that. Weâve got plenty of other opportunities.â
His words stung more than they should have. I looked away.
âGet back to work, Beta.â
He laughed at my cold tone. âThat intimidation might work on others, but not on me,â he said, heading for the door.
He grabbed the handle but paused, turning back.
âStop thinking about her, Kane. You say you hate her, but sheâs living rentâfree in your head. Why?â

< Chapter 73 Get 5 x Menu My fists clenched. Just the mention of her made my blood boll.
Sheâd left with that Iron Crown Alpha. Who knew what they were up to now?
Sometimes I wanted to track her down, but those photos and videos stopped me cold. I still hadnât deleted them from my laptop.
My wolf was being traitorous, constantly bringing her up..
Why couldnât he just forget Selene?
It had to be this damn mate bond. I wondered â If Iâd rejected her as my mate that day, would she still haunt my thoughts?
The mere idea of rejecting her made my wolf growl and my heart clench. Must be the soul bondâs effect.
â
âSheâs probably hunting for an Alpha to mark her only way to break an Alphaâs mate bond,â I thought, jaw tight.
When Finn saw I wasnât going to respond, he left.
That evening, I headed to the pack house to see my father.
Walking in, I found Ruby sitting with my parents.
Sheâd spent months working to win them over- successfully, I might add.
Their laughter died as they noticed me. I took a seat across from my parents, Ruby beside my mother.
My father looked good â the Wolfsbane Elixir had worked wonders. His wolf was fully healed, healthier than ever. It was nothing short of miraculous.
âHowâs the company?â he asked.
âFine.â
âHeard you lost another project.â
I narrowed my eyes. âGot spies in my company?â
He chuckled. âDonât forget I ran it before you. My old contacts are still there.â
I sighed. âYeah, we lost it. But Iâll take back everything Iron Crown stole.â
Ruby touched my hand. âIron Crown? Alpha Magnusâs pack?â
The memories flooded back â that night, the accident, the feeling of losing her, her betrayal. Even though we werenât together anymore, how could she jump into bed with someone else so easily?
My phone rang â it was my gamma.
âAlpha, Iron Crownâs gamma called. Alpha Magnus is throwing a grand party for his sister this weekend. He specifically requested your presence.â
