Chapter68 Third Person Kane was in a foul mood all day. After his conversation with Selene, he stayed away from the hospital.
He swore to himself he wouldnât care about that woman anymore. He hated how sheâd made him feel last night.
âAlpha, we lost the deal. Some of our people went behind our backs,â his secretary announced, dropping a bombshell.
Kane hurled the file across the room in rage. He shot to his feet, making his secretary flinch.
The secretary backed away, head bowed low.
âHow the hell did we lose this project? Who dared to cross me?â Kaneâs voice was iceâcold.
The stress was evident on his face, though it wasnât just about the lost deal. Something else was eating at him.
âWHO?â he roared.
His secretary nearly collapsed. âThe eastern packs are now shipping their goods to Iron Crown Pack.â
Kaneâs eyebrows shot up. âWhat did you just say? Which pack?â he snarled through clenched teeth.
âIâIron Crown Pack.â
Kane let out a furious growl.
The sound brought Beta Finn running to his office. The growl had been loud enough to send shivers through the entire floor.
Everyone knew when their Alpha lost it like this, thereâd be hell to pay.
âWhatâs going on?â Finn asked, noticing the scattered file.
Finn quickly sized up the situation â Kane looked murderous, and his secretary was practically shaking in his boots.
âWhat happened?â Finn directed his question to the secretary this time.
After hearing the explanation, Finnâs eyes went wide while Kane continued to seethe.
âSo thatâs why Alpha Magnus showed up here. I should have known...â Kane muttered darkly.
Alpha Magnus had sweetâtalked several of Kaneâs pack members, all business owners, into signing contracts with him. Kane vowed those traitors would pay dearly. But Magnus? He wouldnât get away with this either.
Yet more than the business betrayal, what really made his blood boil was how close Magnus had gotten to Selene. The images of them together flashed through his mind.
Suddenly, he had an overwhelming urge to find Selene and give her another piece of his mind.
He grabbed his suit jacket from the back of his chair and headed for the door.
âWhere are you going?â Finn called after him.
âPack hospital,â he snapped, storming out.

It took him just minutes to reach the hospital nearby. People scrambled to bow as they recognized him.
He ignored them all, making a beeline for Seleneâs room.
When he got there, he found a different woman in the bed.
He scowled at the patient and turned to the nurse.
The nurse bowed deeply. âAlpha.â
âWhereâs Selene?â
Without looking up, the nurse stammered, âIf you mean the previous patient, she checked out at noon.â
âWhat? Where did she go?â he demanded, confused.
âIâm sorry, Alpha. Someone came with discharge papers and left with her. Thatâs all I know.â
Kane stormed out and headed straight for Dr. Nathanâs office.
He burst through the door and grabbed Nathan, who had been buried in paperwork, by the collar and yanked him to his feet.
âAlpha? Whatâs wrong?â Nathanâs face was shocked. He had no clue what heâd done to tick off their mighty Alpha.
âWho came to get her?â Kane got straight to the point. His jaw was clenched tight, his fist twisted in Nathanâs collar.
âAlpha, I donât know.â
Kane released his collar only to wrap his hand around Nathanâs throat.
âRight, you donât know. But you had time to exchange flowers with her.â
Nathan looked away. âAlpha, youâve got it wrong. Weâre just friends.â
âFriends? Fine. Now tell me where she is.â
âShe left the pack.â
Kaneâs grip tightened around Nathanâs throat, cutting off his air.
âWho gave you permission to let her leave the hospital?â
Nathan squeezed his eyes shut, struggling to breathe.
âIâIâm sorry, Alpha. But itâs hospital policy â we canât stop a patient from leaving if their family wants to take them.â
âWho took her?â
âI donât know him.â
Kane forced himself to calm down. He released Nathanâs throat and took a step back.
âIf I find out youâre lying about any of this, youâre dead.â

The moment Kane left, Nathan broke into a coughing fit heâd been holding back. He grabbed a glass of water and downed it in one go. Alpha Kane had come this close to killing him.
Meanwhile, Kane was headed for the elevator when he decided to check on his father.
As he walked to his fatherâs room, his mind raced. Someone had come for Selene â but who? He hadnât even asked if it was a man or woman.
When he pushed open his fatherâs door, he found his mother sitting by his stillâunconscious fatherâs bedside.
She looked up, surprised. âKane.â
âHow is he?â he asked, dropping onto the couch near the bed.
He worked hard to keep his emotions in check around his mother.
âHeâs responding well to treatment.â
Kane nodded, glancing at his father.
His mother studied him for a moment before saying, âWhy didnât you tell me about Selene? I had no idea she was in this hospital until I ran into her leaving today. I was shocked to see her with someone. The way they acted together â they seemed really close, like theyâd known each other forever.â
