Chapter67 I reached out and grabbed Magnusâs sleeve.
âMagnus!â
Nathan turned to face Magnus.
+5Bonus Menu âOf course not, Alpha Magnus. Iâd never dream of pursuing the Iron Crown Packâs princess. Sheâs my friend, and Iâm grateful for that alone.â
With those words and a faint smile in my direction, Nathan left the hospital room.
My heart ached for Nathan. I knew heâd never thought of me that way. As my personal doctor, he knew everything about my medical history and what Iâd been through.
âWhy the long face? Donât tell me you have feelings for him?â my brother asked.
I let go of his sleeve. âWhat? No way. But heâs one of my closest friends. He was the first person who helped me keep the truth from Kane. Remember?â
He perched on the edge of the bed. âThatâs why I respected him. But as a guy, I can read other men pretty well.â
âAre you saying he has feelings for me?â
He laughed and pinched my cheek. âWho wouldnât? Youâre my adorable little sister.â
âOw! Quit it!â I swatted his hand away, my cheek stinging from the pinch.
âAlright, alright, my bad. Now get ready. Weâre heading out.â
Magnus stood up, his expression turning serious again. I wondered if all Alphas had such mood swings â they always seemed so cold and distant. Or maybe they were just more complex than they appeared.
After he left, Magnus sent in the head nurse to help me change into the new clothes his driver had brought.
Getting dressed was a bit of a struggle, but thankfully, it didnât take too long.
Magnus came back to escort me out. He supported me with one arm around my shoulders and held my hand with his free one.
Everyone was staring at us. I tried to ignore their looks, but they reminded me of Kaneâs accusations.
The more I dwelled on it, the more my chest tightened with pain.
âSelene!â
I heard Kaneâs momâs voice as Magnus and I crossed the lobby toward the main entrance.
We stopped and turned around.
âMrs. Thorne,â Magnus acknowledged her.
She nodded at him before turning her attention to me.
Her eyes widened at the sight of my bandaged head. She rushed forward and pulled me into a hug.

= Menu âHow did you get out of the car?â Magnus finally asked. Heâd avoided the topic all day, like he didnât want to trigger bad memories.
I took a moment before answering. âKane pulled me out.â
Magnus went quiet. My answer clearly didnât sit well with him, but it was the truth. I couldnât lie.
After a while, he spoke again.
âAxel was really worried about you. He wanted to rush over when he heard about the accident. I had to talk him down.â
I opened my eyes and murmured, âHeâs always been thoughtful.â
Magnus turned to me and said in a low voice, âHe doesnât care about anyone else the way he cares about you.â
