Menu I narrowed my eyes at him, my jaw clenched tightly in anger. âWhat did you just say?â
Raven let out a sigh, one that carried an air of resignation, and replied, âYou wanted to be with her, didnât you?â
My eyebrows shot up in surprise. âHow does he know that?â
âOld man, your assumptions are wrong. I donât love that woman. Itâs only the mate bond that pulled me toward her,â I said coldly.
Ravenâs expression shifted at my response. I studied him closely. Even though he wasnât under any visible pressure, I could hear the rapid pounding of his heart. Fear had begun to take root in him, knowing he was standing before his Head Alpha.
âIf thatâs true, then you would have rejected her already,â he retorted.
His words left me momentarily stunned. I had never seriously considered rejecting her before.
âReject her? Could I even bring myself to do it?â
But then, the memory of her betrayal surfaced in my mind, sending a sharp pang through my chest.
I couldnât accept her anymore. Even though those children were mine and she hadnât been unfaithful during our marriage, she had committed an unforgivable wrong. She had hidden my children from me, planning to marry Beta Axel and live out the rest of her life with him.
If thatâs what she wanted, I wouldnât stop her. She was free to go. But there was one thing I wouldnât allow: she could not take my children with her. They were mine, and they deserved to carry my name and live their lives like royaltyâa prince and a princess.
With these thoughts in mind, I drew a deep breath and made a decision. âIâll reject her soon.â
It wasnât a difficult choice. I needed to sever the bond and kill the feelings that had started to grow in my heart for her. Those feelings had already withered in the face of her betrayal.
âKane!â Finn exclaimed, shaking his head in disbelief. His reaction caught me off guard.
Raven let out a low chuckle and looked elsewhere, muttering just loud enough for me to hear, âYou canât, Alpha. Even if you want to, you canât.â
The old manâs words ignited my fury. His defiance was insufferable. This was all Alpha Magnusâs faultâhe had failed to keep his pack in line. Magnus had given too much power to this arrogant man, all because of his soâcalled magical abilities.
How dare a royal physician speak to the Head Alpha like this?
âIâm reconsidering my decision,â I growled. âInstead of locking you up in a dungeon, I might just kill you right here.â
Ravenâs eyes widened in shock, but Finn stepped forward, placing himself between us. âKane, wait. Heâs powerful, and he could be useful to us. Thereâs no need to kill him.â
I narrowed my eyes at Finn. âDonât waste your sympathy on this old man. How could you believe he 11:21 Get 5>

Finn averted his gaze, realizing he wouldnât win this argument.
âIf you want to kill me, Alpha, then go ahead,â Raven said suddenly, his voice calm.
I turned back to him, my anger surging. âOh, really? What are you going to do? Defend yourself so mehow?â
He locked eyes with me, and for a moment, I saw something shift in his gaze. His eyes turned cloudy, as if he were seeing something far beyond this moment.
âAlpha, youâve come to me too soon,â he said cryptically. âOne day, youâll find yourself in need of me.â
I scowled, irritated by the confidence in his voice.
Without another word, I stormed out of his house and climbed into my car. Finn followed closely behind and slid into the seat beside me.
âWhat do you think?â Finn asked cautiously. âI still believe we shouldnât kill him, Kane.â
I glanced at him and sighed, giving in to his request. âFine. I wonât kill him. But youâll be responsible for keeping a close eye on him. Just because he helped her once doesnât mean he wonât do it again.â
