Chapter 103 Get 5 Menu I clenched my fists at his words, rage boiling inside me. I wanted to end this man right here and now.
âHow dare he even think that?â
Just as I was about to strike, a firm grip caught my wrist.
âAlpha, Iâve been looking for you,â a familiar voice said.
I turned to see Finn standing beside me.
âNot you again,â I muttered, my glare sharp.
Did he have nothing better to do than follow me around? How did he always manage to step in at the worst moments?
âIâm your Beta. Itâs my job to look out for you,â he murmured before turning to Beta Axel.
âHello, Beta Axel.â
They shook hands like proper gentlemen, while I kept glaring at Finn.
After excusing Axel, Finn turned back to me.
âHow dare you interfere between me and that bastard?â
âBastard? Have you lost your mind? You should be thanking me. If I hadnât stopped you, you wouldâve killed him. Do you really think heâd survive if you clawed him?â
I averted my gaze, looking instead at Axel, who had walked over t How could she even choose someone like him?â
to Selene.
âAnd who should she choose instead? You?â Finnâs voice was laced with amusement.
I scowled at his words.
He chuckled at my expression.
âYouâre not afraid of me, are you?â I asked, narrowing my eyes.
âI know youâd never harm those close to you.â
âYouâre too confident. Did you already forget how I shattered someoneâs pride last night? You sure you want to be next?â
But Finn remained unfazed, which only irritated me further. He was the only one who didnât fear me.
As the party began, I sat at the bar, sipping my drink. My eyes roamed the room, eventually landing on a particular figure.
Selene Every time someone approached her, she greeted them with a bright smile. Where was that smile when she spoke to me? She treated me as if I were invisible, as if I were nothing to her Then, I saw her talking to Alpha Tate As if sensing my gaze, Alpha Tate looked up and met my eyes. He smiled and gave me a small wave. I nodded in return.

A moment later, one of his men approached me.
âAlpha Kane, Alpha Tate would like you to join him.â

Mrou I glanced at Selene, still standing beside Alpha Tate, before rising from my stool, wine glass in hand, and walking toward them.
âAlpha Tate,â I greeted him with a nod.
My attention shifted to the woman beside him.
She was breathtaking.
Before I could say anything, Alpha Tate spoke, âSelene, my dear, where are you going? Shouldnât you congratulate Alpha Kane?â
Selene turned to me, her surprise evident. She hadnât expected to see me here.
âCongratulations, Alpha Kane,â she said, her voice polite but distant.
I acknowledged her with a nod, holding her gaze. There was tension between usâundeniable, thick, electric.
Alpha Tate continued, âLet me introduce you to some influential people. This is Selene Hawthome. Sheâs remarkable for what sheâs accomplished at such a young age.â
Selene smiled at Alpha Tateâs daughter, Valor, as they shook hands.
âAnd this,â Alpha Tate gestured toward me, âis someone Iâm sure youâve heard plenty aboutâAlpha Ka ne.â
Valor turned to me, her eyes widening in shock.
âYou!â she exclaimed.
I raised a brow. âDo I know you?â
âHow could you forget? We ran into each other earlier today.â
Recognition dawned on meâshe was the girl I had bumped into on the street.
I smirked. âAh, yes. Youâre that beautiful girl.â
Valor blushed at my words. I recalled her friend telling her the same thingâhow she was the most beautiful girl in her pack.
But in my eyes, the woman standing behind her was far more captivating.
I noticed Seleneâs reactionâor rather, her lack of one. She seemed completely indifferent, as if my words meant nothing to her.
âSheâs my only daughter,â Alpha Tate explained. âBut she spends most of her time with her uncle. Darius insists she stay with him to learn the ropes of the packâs business.
Valor suddenly lowered her head in a respectful bow.
âIâm new to all of this,â she said softly. âI heard youâll be working with our pack. I hope youâll look after me as well.â
I almost raised a brow at her forwardness. Had I flattered her too much? What was she hoping to gain from this?

Menu Selene, however, didnât seem to care. She turned to Alpha Tate and murmured, âExcuse me,â before slipping away.
âWhy doesnât she care?â
I moved instinctively, following her. Reaching out, I grabbed her wrist, stopping her in her tracks.
She gasped, startled.
âWhat are you doing?â
I didnât answer. I just pulled her along with me, not sure where I was taking herâonly that I needed to talk to her. The frustration of not understanding her, of not knowing what I was to her, overwhelmed me.
âKane, whatâs wrong?â she whispered, her voice low as we moved past others. She didnât want to draw attention.
I ignored her, leading her past a few corridors until we reached a secluded corner, away from the crowd.
I pressed her back against the wall, my hands bracing on either side of her. âWhy are you acting like you donât care?â
