âA-Arenât you the manager at Imperial Hotel? Youâre also a psychologist? Really?â
Fae gaped at the manager in shock.
The manager grinned abashedly. âI am a nationally acclaimed psychologist, you know. I have a certificate.â
Fae was dumbstruck.
âWhat a talented group Ashlyn commands.â
âArenât you the captain of the guards? Did you design this sewerage system?â James studied the case files handed to him by the captain, which were better designed than what the experts he had engaged came up with. He was so surprised that he almost jumped to his feet.
âYes,â the captain said calmly. âBecause of the altitude of this place, the constant rain could trigger a landslide. We must divert a path for the water ahead of time.â
âExcellent work! Indeed, one should never judge a book by its cover. Would you like to work with the Water Conservancy Bureau?â James looked at him admiringly.
âIâm happy with my job at the Imperial Hotel, and thatâs where Iâll be if the nation needs me.â Without another word, the captain headed out.
âD-Did you say youâre an expert in livestock cultivation and youâre going to teach us how to raise livestock?â The village elder gazed, awestruck, at the young man before him, who was none other than Howardâs apprentice, Denny.
Denny beamed. âIndeed. Iâm the best at raising livestock.â
Even the reporters reporting live from the disaster zone were stunned.
Every second they spent there was broadcasted live.
âHello! I am reporting live from the disaster zone in Lake City. In a shocking turn of events, we have uncovered that the Imperial Hotel has been concealing an array of talent in its employees, who are all an expert of some sort! Every staff weâre so used to seeing is an expert in their field. Absolutely shocking. Come, letâs interview this young lady.â The reporter approached a young woman dressed like a schoolgirl and held the microphone before her. âHello, Miss. Could we ask you a few questions?â
Cassandra turned around and jumped in shock when she saw the reporter giving her a toothy smile.
She was cradling a large boulder, bringing it out of the way. In this manner, she piled the rubble to the side and cleared a level path.
The reporterâs lips twitched as he looked at the boulders.
This rock must weigh a ton! How did she move it so effortlessly? She even paved a path through! What unnatural strength is this?
That, coupled with her girly face, proved an odd sight indeed.
Suppressing the shock he felt, the reporter looked at Cassandra, who was smiling brightly.
She brushed the mud off her hands and smiled demurely. âSure. What would you like to ask?â
âWhere are you from?â
âIâm the CFO of Imperial Hotel, in charge of its financial department,â Cassandra answered with a disarming smile.
âWell done for being a chief at such a young age, Miss! Could you tell us how heavy that boulder is?â
the reporter asked with interest.
âA hundred pounds, I think.â Cassandra cast the reporter a strange glance. Whatâs there to tell about this rock?
âWasnât it heavy? Arenât you tired?â the reporter asked, burning with curiosity as he cast her a tentative glance.
Why is he asking unrelated questions instead of about the disaster?
âNothing much. Itâs just a big old rock, isnât it? I can even lift two at once,â Cassandra answered, suppressing her annoyance.
As she spoke, she grabbed a large boulder in each hand, lifted them easily, and threw them out of the way under the full view of the crowd and the audience nationwide, opening up another path.
The reporters, photographers, and viewers all over the country were struck dumb with amazement.
