"So, how many good things about me have you told her?" I took a glance at my sister while I drove through the dark streets. This part of the city unfortunately has no streetlight.

"Actually, none." She quietly answered.

I shot her a dry look and focused on the road again.

The plan was to tell Fauziyyah nice things about me so she would feel attracted to me even if it was slightly.

The plan itself wasn't guaranteed to work but my sister here just ruined it more.

"Look, Yaya. You just have to be bold as brass and tell her how you feel."

"Why so?"

"She's guarded because of her past relationship. I have a feeling everything would fall into place. You just need to set the ball rolling." I listened to my sister advise me like I was the younger one. I have to admit it though, she was making a lot of sense.

"Remind me your age again?" I razzed. I stepped on the brakes once we arrived at the gate of our house.

"I sounded so smart right?" Saf dusted off invisible dirt from her shoulder while giving the  I'm too much look.

I chuckled at that before telling her to go inside, I had somewhere else to be.

She took her sweet time putting on her sandals then gave me a  quick side hug and left.

I reversed back my car and drifted off to see Abdul. I needed his advice again on how to end this torture that has been ongoing for weeks.

Our conversation today has to decide the big move.

"So, give me the deets." He addressed the situation without beating around once we were in his room.

I filled him in on my failed mission with Safiyyah. Well I won't say it failed, she was the one that deviated from the main goal.

"Guy, are you for real? Your actions are making it obvious that you're new to all this kind of things."  He gave me a look filled with amusement. He probably derived joy from my helpless situation.

"Of course I'm new to it. Now just tell me what to do."

I just wanted to be done with this.

"What's the goal you have in mind now?"

The goal I have in mind....

"To make her mine." I replied in a heartbeat.

"That's the spirit. Just meet her dad and tell him. From the looks of it, you'll take forever to tell her yourself. So he'll help speed things up for you."

My jaw dropped at his advice. Why didn't I think of this?

My heart rate increased at the thought of meeting her dad -well her uncle- to communicate my intention towards his niece.

"I'll do just that. How's the prep? You'd be married in two days."

Abdul grinned at the change of topic and I spent the next few minutes teasing him.

I returned home after a hearty meal.

Friday came and it gave out good vibes. The sun shone brightly and it wasn't too hot outside.

I went back to sleep after subh and time is 10 AM at the moment.

Today was the day I planned to meet the man who would make a decision that would make or break me.

I took a long shower and dressed up in a white kaftan. I almost had a second bath with my Dior Sauvage perfume. After making sure my hair was well combed and the waves eminent, I picked up my babban riga and phone and headed to the dinning table. Mostafa has to drive me today, the nervousness I was feeling won't allow me concentrate on the road.

I wasn't really fond of wearing babban riga but this is my future father-in-law we're talking about. The need to go all out is no surprise.

I had breakfast and asked Ummi to wish me luck. I was going to make the biggest deal in my life.

I checked in on Smart Minds and once the clock clicked 1PM, we drove down to National mosque for Friday prayer.

With a deep breath, I knocked on the entrance door thrice in a row.

"Assalamu alaykum." I greeted immediately the door flung open. It was her cousin, Ilham.

I wasn't in the right mind to remember our last encounter so I didn't even try.

"Waalaykumus salam. Mr CEO, Ina yini?"

"Lafy kalau. Na sameku lafy? "

"Alhamdulillah. Erm, Fauziyyah is out to see friend."

Perfect!

She gave me a confused look while she told me that. I would be confused too if I were in her place so I understand the look completely.

The few times I visited Fauziyyah in the past, I just had to call her to meet me outside.

"I'm here to meet your father, is he around?" I sensed her hesitation so I added, " And no, he doesn't know about my visit. I'll wait right here while you let him know."

She nodded slowly then gently closed the door to my face. Whether she did that or banged it hard, I don't think it would've made a difference with the way I was feeling.

I recited different supplications as I waited for her to come back.

"You can come in. He would be with you shortly."

I breathed through my mouth in relief and followed her lead.

This is it, Bismillah!

I can totally do this, I've dealt with and persuaded ruthless business men before.
