Chapter 193 A wave of unease moves in my stomach, forcing me to open my eyes. I look towards the window and find a notâsoâbright beam of sunlight penetrating the curtains. Something doesnât feel right at all. My body is heavy, and every movement increases the pain Iâm already feeling.
A sharp churn twists my stomach and suddenly, my breath gets caught in my throat. An unwanted taste of nausea finds its way up my throat, and it doesnât take a genius to know that I donât have time to waste.
I throw the covers and jump out of bed, almost falling. My legs are barely carrying me, and I hardly make it to the bathroom without falling. My chest tightens and a shooting pain makes me clutch my stomach tightly.
Thankfully, I succeed in preventing myself from vomiting before I reach the toilet, but the moment I do, I bend over, and vomit starts to come out of my mouth rapidly. I was all right last night, so I donât understand whatâs happening to me. Just when I think that Iâm done vomiting, I bend over again and empty my stomach for the second time.
My throat is burning, and tears are falling from my eyes. I hate this feeling of discomfort that has conquered my body, and I wonder when itâs going to stop.
âRosie, whatâs going on?â I hear Silasâs voice. Has he heard me all the way from his bedroom? Have I been in the bathroom for so long I motion for him to stay away without looking at him, not wanting him to see me in that state.
âStay away. Iâm puking my guts out,â I mutter before whatever is left in my stomach hurls out of my mouth. It seems like Silas decides to ignore what I told him because I feel his hand on my back as he pulls my hair away from my face.
I donât know for how long I keep pulling, but when I feel like nothing is left in my stomach, I rest my back against the wall and close my eyes, feeling completely drained, When I try to open them, everything dances in front of them, which makes me close them again.
âRosie, you look very pale. Maybe I should take you to the hospital.â I canât see Silasâs face, but his voice is laced with concern.
âWhat are you exactly feeling?â
âLike a train has run over my body,â I murmur. I feel him move from beside me, making me wonder where he plans on going.
I hear the water running and force myself to open my eyes. He is standing in front of the sink. He turns off the running water then kneels in front of me. He touches my forehead with the back of his hand and gasps.
âShit! Youâre burning up,â he mutters, then starts to move the wet towel over my face. But why am I feeling so cold if Iâm burning up? I open my eyes and catch a glimpse of Silas, but he seems to be blurry in front of me. âOkay, I wonât wait until you get worse,â he whispers, and I feel him hauling me up.
âI need to brush my teeth, first,â I manage to say, my voice already groggy. Iâm not going to the hospital with vomit breath.
He nods and helps me brush them before he takes me to the closet. He wraps a jacket around my body and then carries me downstairs. My head is already resting on his shoulder. It feels so heavy that I canât even move it.
âThomas, take us to the hospital,â Silas tells our driver before he gets me inside the car first, then he gets inside right after me.
During the whole way, Silas has his arm around me. My arms are around my stomach, clutching it from the excruciating pain.
âIt hurts so much,â I whimper, raising my head to look at Silas.
âCome on. Lie down,â Silas tells me, and I nod. I place my head on his thigh, and he gently starts rubbing my stomach. âHave you eaten anything other than what we ate last night?â he asks, and I shake my head as tears fall from my eyes.
Chapter 199 We spent the entire day together yesterday and we ate the same bod. Maybe he has a better immune system than mine. Iâm glad that heâs okay, though. Heâs going to join the team in ten days to start training with them again and the last thing he needs is a setback.
Once we reach the hospital, Silas carries me inside where the nurses take me from him. The pain is getting worse and Iâm unable to push myself to stay awake. The last thing I remember seeing before losing consciousness is seeing Silasâs worried face.

I have a strong headache, but itâs not as bad as it used to be, Slowly, I open my eyes, and I find Silas lying down on a small dark green leather couch that looks very uncomfortable, especially due to his size.
âSilas.â My voice is raspy, yet my husband manages to wake up almost instantly, and in the blink of an eye, I find him by my side.
âHey, cupcake. Youâre awake,â he says, moving his hand over the top of my head.
âWhat was wrong with me? Was it a bug?â I ask, looking into his eyes.
âNo, it wasnât a bug. Youâve been poisoned.â My eyes widen upon hearing that. Poisoned? Who would poison me? âThey found traces of poison in your blood. It doesnât kill, but it causes extreme sickness.â
âBut I didnât eat anything other than what you ate yesterday, and we cooked together, right?â I frown, trying to sit up.
âYou were given this poison a few days ago,â he explains, helping me sit up. âItâs the type of poison that its effect doesnât appear right away.â
âWhen can I leave? How long have I been here?â I have a lot of questions in my mind, but these ones are the easiest to answer.
âYouâve been here for the past three hours, and you can leave tomorrow morning,â he replies, and I nod. âIâm going to get the doctor to check on you, yeah?â Again, I nod and watch him leave.
When we get back home, Iâm going to tell him about the messages I have been getting lately. I have to tell him before itâs too late. Iâm not sure who might want to hurt me like that, but whoever wants that has managed to land me in hospital. They managed to poison my food.
Silas returns with the doctor who runs a checkâup on me. After confirming that Iâm going to leave tomorrow, he exits the room, leaving me with Silas.
âI wanted to report this, but the thing is, we donât know when exactly you could have been given that poison or where. You might have taken it two days or five days ago and this week has been pretty eventful. We only stayed home yesterday,â Silas tells me.
âI ate out at the event we attended together and once at the fashion house. Maybe we should check with the organizers of the event, and I can ask Mum to see if somebody else got sick,â I suggest, and he nods in agreement. Speaking of Mum, I donât know if she is aware of what happened to me. I hope the reporters are oblivious as to what is happening.
Yes, I plan on telling Mum; however, I want to tell her after Iâm discharged. This will take the edge off a bit.
âIâm not the best cook, so Iâm going to call either my mum or yours to prepare food for you. I donât trust you eating something that has been prepared away from our eyes now,â Silas tells me, making me smile. This caring side of him makes my heart swell with love.
âI kind of didnât want to tell them until Iâm out of the hospital,â I tell him, but then add, âBut I understand where youâre coming from.
I think telling Naomi would be better than telling Mum.â
âEmily and Julian will freak the hell out, so is my mum, to be honest. But I think telling Mum will have a calmer effect,â

Chapter 193 Julian tells me with a clnuckle. âI will go get you a few things from home and pick up the food from Mumâs place, yeah?â Silas says then kisses my forehead.
My heart starts beating fast at the mere idea of him leaving. Iâm scared of being alone, because I donât know what may happen to me if heâs not with me, but at the same time, I donât want to appear whiny or needy.
âDonât take a lot of time, please,â I smile at him.
âI promise I wonât,â he assures me.
He walks out of the hospital room, and I patiently wait for him to come back. While waiting, I end up falling asleep since thereâs nothing to do.
I donât know how long I stay asleep, but at some point, while Iâm alone, I flutter my eyes open, and the moment I do that I find somebody wearing black standing over me. I do the only thing I can do in this situation. I scream at the top of my lungs.
