Chapter 73 Youâre Still Scamming?
He looked at Crystal and negotiated, âCanât we put this off for now, Mom? We can marry her off to a good family before calling the cops on Cameron. Itâs already been more than twenty years. Youâre not in a hurry, are you?â
Sebastian snorted. He cocked his eyebrow at Cedric and smiled elegantly. âSo youâre still going to scam someone out of a good marriage?â
Cedric flew into a rage. âThis is our familyâs matter, Sebastian, so stay out of it!â
âOh, you want me to stay out of it, eh?â Sebastian smiled and stood up. âSince you think itâs not my business, then that means itâs not my wife and kidsâ business either.â He held the boysâ hand and looked at Madeline. âLooks like we can go back now.â
âNice!â Buddy chirpsed. âI wanna go home. I miss Grandpa.â
Michaelâs face fell. âCedric, can you just shut up?â
Jonathan quickly went up to Sebastian and blocked him. âI see everyoneâs done with dinner. Why donât we move to the living room and let the kids have desserts and fruits?â
Buddyâs eyes shone when he heard the mention of food.
Jonathan saw this and said instantly, âCome, Buddy. Iâll take you to where the delicious food is.â
Buddy looked at Madeline, and Madeline looked at Sebastian. Sebastian helped her earlier, so she had to let him make the choice. If she let the kids stay despite him saying that they were going to leave, itâd be ungrateful of her.
Sebastian noticed the look from Madeline. Sheâs just too understanding. Since Madeline was willing to let him make the decision, he didnât want to make it difficult for her either, and he nodded at Buddy. Buddy looked delighted, and he asked, âWhat kind of food do you have, uncle?â
Jonathanâs heart melted, and he beckoned to Buddy. âCome with me, Buddy.â
Buddy looked at Sebastian. Sebastian nodded at him, and he quickly went to Jonathan.
Amused, Sebastian shook his head, and he whispered, âWe had better keep an eye on the boys, or he might get taken away with just an offer of a biscuit.â
âThatâs him, not me!â Aldo scoffed. âIâm not like that idiot.â
Madeline patted his head. âDonât call him an idiot, or heâll really become an idiot.â
Cedric saw her smile, and he went to her side. He said in a soft voice, âYou already have a happy life, so why do you want to ruin Angie? Just tell Mom to keep Angie around. Sheâll do what you tell her to.â
Madeline frowned, and she looked at him. âYou should know what Angie and Isabel have done to me all my life. Itâs already kind of me not to make them suffer. How can you even ask me to defend Angie? Are you trying to be kind, or do you think Iâm some sort of pushover?â
âWhy you littleâ¦â Cedric flew into a rage. âYou had better show mercy whenever possible. If you defend Angie today, I promise Iâll be nice to you. Iâll take care of you and make up for the lost years.â
âOh, youâre getting carried away, Cedric.â Sebastian wrapped his arm around her waist. âI can take care of my wife. You donât have to do it for me.â
Cedric shot him a glare and took a step toward Madeline. He growled, âDonât feel too smug just because youâre married to Sebastian. Thatâs just because you have your sons with you. Once the boys have established themselves in the family, they wonât need you anymore. Sebastian will get a divorce and keep the boys for himself, while you will be chased away. Do you think you can do anything about it without us helping you?â
Sebastian laughed mirthlessly, and he looked at Cedric. âRumors say that all the Wendel boys are elites among the elites. Well, the rumors are wrong. I canât say much about your brothers, but you⦠Youâre a total and utter imbecile. Trying to turn us against each other right in front of me? Do you think Iâm a pushover, you imbecile?â
Cedricâs face fell. âDid you just insult me?â
Sebastian answered, âNo. I was just making an accurate commentary.â
âWhy youâ¦â owns © this.
Before he could finish, his motherâwho was helping Jonathan prepare the food for the kidsâquickly came over. âWhat did you say to Maddie again? Donât say anything stupid. I wanted Angie to leave. Itâs my decision, and she has nothing to do with it.â
âShe has everything to do with it.â Cedric glanced at Madeline angrily. If it werenât for her, weâd still be a happy family instead of being in this mess. Now, my beloved sister is going to get the boot.
âShut up!â Michael came over and growled, âOne more word and youâre going to your room.â
Cedric was furious, but he had to shut up.
Joseph and Connor came over and put their hands on his shoulders. âCedric, please grow up and just stop talking, will you?â
Cedric glared at them. âGrow up? Grow up? Hey, Angieâs the victim here. If none of us are going to defend Angie, sheâs going to get the boot, and thatâll ruin her life!â His anger flared, and he shoved his brothers away. âI donât care anymore. I need to make this clear with Dad and Mom.â
He strode back to his parents and said loudly, âDad, Mom, Iâm a part of the family, so I have the right to voice my opinion. Angieâs been living with us for more than twenty years. I always thought sheâs your real daughter, but now that sheâs not, you want to chase her out? What if you find out that we arenât your real kids? Are you going to chase us out too? Dad, Mom, I love and respect you, but I canât believe you could be so cruel as to deny Angieâs love just because of a piece of paper. Donât you think thatâs heartless of you?â
Crystal couldnât believe her own son just called her cruel and heartless. She felt everything around her spin, but she tried to control her emotions despite her heart thumping so crazily it could leap out of her chest. She asked her son calmly, âSo youâre calling me cruel and heartless? Does that mean youâre kind and compassionate? What do you want to do then?â
