The person at the forefront held a chilling silver Long Bow in his right hand, which was approximately two meters in length. As he extended his left hand, he took out a silver arrow from the quiver on the horseâs back â the same kind as the one that had almost claimed Brother Longâs life moments before. It stood to reason that the arrow that had nearly ended Brother Long was shot by this man.
He slowly nocked the arrow and took aim at Brother Long, who stood guarding the villagers behind him. This act instantly enraged the ten or so ragged villagers, their eyes bulging with fury. However, as the bowstring was slowly drawn tight and the arrow set, slowly panning over the crowd and aiming at each person, the villagers were forced to suppress their anger. The gleaming points of the arrows instilled a deep fear in them.
âItâs Hu Ba, the bastard, theyâve come after all!â Chen Fei, standing at the back, gnashed his teeth in rage, but he only dared to mutter softly. He was still holding Lingfeng, the eight-year-old boy, clutching a few small Demonic Source Stones. Fear and fierce unwillingness shimmered in his bright eyes.
âRun, then. Werenât you trying to escape?â A man with one blind eye, dressed a bit like a pirate, flicked his horsewhip, its cracking echoes filling the air, his contemptuous gaze sizing up the group of villagers.
The man leading with the bow did not move, still aiming the arrow at the villagers, while the rest of the unbridled Flying Dragon Horses slowly encircled them. Their pair of sinister eyes scanned the pouches at the villagersâ waists, each containing at least a few Demonic Source Stones. âYouâre lucky to have found an unmined Source Mine, but when you picked up those Demonic Source Stones, didnât you ask around to see if the mine belonged to our Tiger Gang?â
âNo, itâs not yours. That Source Mine has been abandoned for many years!â Lingfeng, young as he was, clutched the Demonic Source Stones in his arms. Though they were only the size of thumbs, they could be exchanged for several daysâ worth of food. His mother had fallen ill from hunger, and he didnât want to lose her.
âHeh, this kidâs pretty tough, isnât he?â A man with a thin face and a sneer laughed coldly as he thrust his spear towards the boy. âYou want to keep the Demonic Source Stones? Letâs see if you have the life to keep them! Brat, at such a young age, youâve learned to resist!â
Chen Fei shifted Lingfeng to his other arm and deftly dodged the spear. His brow furrowed in frustration, yet he still chose to yield, âHeâs just a child, he doesnât understand, why bother taking it out on a kid!â
âA child? So what? If you dare conceal Demonic Source Stones, you deserve to die!â
Seeing Chen Fei evade his spear, the narrow-eyed man aimed at the pouch on Chen Feiâs waist. Without any mercy, the spearpoint stabbed viciously into Chen Feiâs side. Chen Feiâs face whitened as his brow furrowed, but he made no attempt to dodge. He stiffened his body, allowing the bastard to lift his pouch on the spearpoint, and his side quickly turned crimson with blood.
The man flicked the pouch on his spearpoint, weighing its contents, then reported to the leader with the bow, âBoss, itâs less than two pounds. These wretched villagers must have hidden more!â
This leader was the Hu Ba the villagers had referred to, his cold gaze sweeping over them to rest on Brother Long. âToday, you owe twenty pounds of Demonic Source Stones, or else, one of you will leave your life here.â
