BETA XAVIER

“Don’t you dare lay a finger on her!” Benjamin sneered as he tried to break free from his shackles. The more he struggled, the more harm he was doing to himself.

“I’m the beta of this pack, not you. And I don’t have to listen to a fucking traitor,” I said in a monotone as I walked into the cell where Chantelle was already tied. “Bring me the silver whip,” I commanded. A warrior nodded his head and quickly ran out.

He came back a few seconds later with the whip and handed it over to me.

“Xavier, pl…please let me go,” Chantelle begged me as tears streamed down her cheeks.

“Isn’t that what Eleanor must have said when you caught her earlier?” I asked her.

She remained silent.

“Don’t you at least have an ounce of love still for me?” she asked me, but I was over her nonsense long ago.

“Step back,” I commanded the warriors, and they did as I told them. “You ought to feel the same pain I felt when you betrayed me,” I told her when I began raining down lashes on her body.

Her screams filled the prison cell, and I saw the warriors shudder. Benjamin was screaming for me to stop, but I ignored his pleas and continued.

“I told you to stay away,” I said. “But you didn’t fucking listen.”

Her blood was pooling on the floor by the time I finally stopped.

“Chantelle!” Benjamin kept calling her name. She was fading in and out of consciousness.

“Beta Costa.” A warrior stepped forward. “What should we do about him?” he asked me.

“Do we have the wolfsbane in stock?” I asked him, and he nodded his head. “Mix a high concentration of wolfsbane along with silver and inject it into his bloodstream,” I said.

The warrior nodded his head and left the cell.

I turned around to see that Benjamin looked like a madman. His eyes were bulging out of their sockets, and his veins were pulsing. Soon, the warrior came back, and he looked at me, so I gestured for him to proceed. Benjamin struggled, but the warriors were able to hold him down and inject the serum.

“How long would it take for his organs to shut down?”

“It will take five minutes for him to die, Beta Costa,” the warrior said, and I nodded my head.

“Make a stronger dosage of that and bring it to me,” I told him, and he nodded.

“Give me the syringe,” I said, and the warrior passed the syringe toward me, and I injected her.

“Wh…what is that?” she asked me, looking at the colorless liquid.

“Within a few minutes, you won’t feel a thing,” I reassured her.

“What about Benjamin? Please let him go,” Chantelle begged.

“Well, now that can’t be done, darling,” I said, and this made her look at me. “He’s still a member of my pack, and what he did was treason. He has to get a fair punishment for that,” I said. I could see that she didn’t like what I said.

“B…but what am I going to do all alone in this world without my love?” she asked me, but I didn’t answer.

A few minutes later, she began coughing, and she spat out blood onto the floor. When she saw the red liquid, her eyes widened in alarm.

“You said I wouldn’t feel anything.” Chantelle said as blood started dripping from her nose as well.

“Yes, you won’t feel anything once you’re dead.”

“Xavier!” she yelled, but another cough caught her. Her eyes were bloodshot now, and she started screaming in agony.

“I loved you so much, Chantelle. And that was the only reason I let you leave this pack alive. But I’m not going to make the same mistake twice,” I told her.

“You lied to me,” she accused.

“Lied to you? I think you sleeping with Benjamin behind my back is also considered lying. So, I guess we’re even now,” I told her, but she didn’t have the energy to speak anymore. I turned around when I saw that Benjamin had already died.

“Your boyfriend has already left this world. You can join him soon in hell,” I told Chantelle.

Her eyes were still locked on mine, and a victorious smile formed on my face as I saw the life slip from her eyes.

I turned around and walked to Benjamin’s cell to see a steady stream of blood trickle down the corner of his mouth. I looked at the warrior standing beside me.

“He’s dead, Beta Costa,” the warrior informed me and I nodded my head.

“Bury them in no-man’s territory. They don’t deserve to be buried in the pack cemetery,” I said, and the warrior nodded as I moved to the next cell, which had Jade inside. She was fast asleep, and seeing her so peaceful made my blood boil. “Get the wolfbane mixed with silver and bring it,” I said, and a few minutes later, the warrior came back with what I'd asked for.

“Inject it into her bloodstream,” I commanded, and even though he looked a little hesitant, he did what I said.

“What are you doing?” Jade abruptly got up from her place as the warrior injected the liquid. Her eyes locked with mine, and I saw the terror in them.

“Xavier you are…” She couldn’t finish her sentence before she began screaming in agony. The serum was working when I saw blood come out of her mouth and ears, and her lifeless body finally fell to the floor.

I could have given her a second chance and banished her from this pack, but I wasn't going to make the same mistake twice.

“Bury her with the other traitors.”
