ELEANOR
Mrs. Costaâs housewarming ceremony happened a week ago and since that time, I barely saw Xavier. I missed him. I was getting ready to go to my office when I heard a knock on my door and saw Xavier standing there.
âEleanor, can you spare a few minutes?â he asked me.
âSure, what do you need?â I asked him.
âCome into my office,â was all he said, and walked outside.
My feet didnât move for a couple of seconds. I was worried about Xavierâs serious tone.
â~Have a positive outlook on life, Ellie,~â Erica consoled me, so I took a deep breath and walked inside.
Xavier had our mating contract spread out on the table, and my heart sank.
Is he going to tell me that this was all an act to make his parents believe him, and now that theyâre out, he wants to remind me about our contract?
âXavier.â My voice was barely audible, but thanks to the werewolf hearing, Xavier looked up at me.
âCome and take a seat, Eleanor,â he said, gesturing toward the chair.
I nodded my head and took a seat.
The temperature in the room seemed to rise a few degrees, and a thin sheen of sweat formed on my forehead.
âEleanor, about the contract,â he began, but I abruptly stood up.
I was fucking stupid to think that he wouldâve changed. That he had truly accepted me as his mate.
There was always that doubt in my mind because he has yet to mark me.
âI know what youâre going to say, Xavier.â
âYou do?â he asked.
âI know itâs just a contract mating bond, and youâre ready for me to move out of your room now that your parents are gone,â I said. He raised an eyebrow at me.
âI am happy you understood the contract, Eleanor,â Xavier said, and this broke my heart.
My throat started to close while my eyes glistened with tears.
I turned around and took a few painful steps to leave the room.
My hand was almost near the doorknob when I felt sparks fly on my arm. I turned around to see Xavier standing a few inches away from me with his hand tightly wrapped around mine.
He roughly pulled me toward him and crashed his lips on mine, igniting the passion and sparks within me. Our mate bond crackled with a new vigor, and I couldnât pull away from him.
I felt betrayed by my own body, but I knew that there was no use in fighting. We were devouring each other like this was the last time we were going to kiss.
My hands were entangled on the back of his neck while his hands roamed all over my body. When we finally broke the kiss, Xavier placed his forehead against mine and stared at me with something swirling in his eyes.
âDo you think Iâll let you go that easily, Eleanor?â he murmured.
âIsnât that why you called me in? You wanted to remind me about our mating contract, right?â I asked him, but he smiled.
âNo, I wanted to do something else,â he whispered as he stepped back and walked back to his desk.
I stood rooted to my spot. He opened his drawer, took a lighter, and grabbed the contract.
âWhat are you doing?â I asked him.
He lit the lighter and held it toward the paper. The papers quickly caught on fire, and they started burning. Xavierâs eyes were fixed on mine while the contract slowly burned to ashes.
âIâve already fallen for you, Eleanor. And Iâm not planning to let you go anytime soon,â he said.
The paper was now completely burned, but he still didnât let it go.
âXavier, youâre going to get burned,â I said, but he still didnât let it go until it burned his hand.
I quickly walked toward him and made him put the papers on the floor.
âAre you mad! Look! Your finger is burned like a crisp potato.â My heart was beating against my chest while my eyes were focused on his finger.
âThese are the very fingers that typed the contract and made you sign it, Eleanor. I think itâs only right if they burn too,â he spoke. I took out the first aid kit, took the cream that is used for burns, and applied it on his finger.
âI think I deserve it. You know you can punch me if you want to,â he offered when I smiled.
âI only like you for this pretty face, Xavier. If I damage that, then I might have to leave you,â I joked, and he gasped at me.
âWhy did you play with my feelings like that?â I questioned.
âThat was never my intention. Before I could explain myself, you jumped to conclusions.â
âBut you played along,â I asserted, and a sheepish smile appeared on his face.
âI know, and Iâm sorry, sweetheart. I wonât do it again,â he said as he wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me closer to him.
âYou better not,â I warned him as I got on my tiptoes and kissed him on the lips. It was supposed to be a soft kiss, but I guess both of us were craving for more.
Xavierâs hands wrapped around my legs, and he hoisted me up as I clenched around his waist. As we broke the kiss, he began kissing along my jawline, making me moan in pleasure. I felt my panties get wet.
âXavier, Iâ¦I think we should stop,â I said with a lot of difficulty, but he continued his kisses along my jawline.
âWhy?â
âI think we are late forâ¦â I donât even remember what I was supposed to do. My mind was clouded with lust, and all I could think about was Xavierâs hard cock inside me.
âThis will be quick,â he mumbled as he crashed his lips on mine again. Just as his hand was sliding up my inner thigh, his office door banged open.
âI should have fucking stayed and taken you to the meeting myself.â We heard Marquezâs exasperated voice, which made me bury my face in Xavierâs neck while a low growl vibrated against his chest.
âDidnât your parents teach you to knock before you enter?â Xavier asked.
âThey did, but if I did that, you would never open the door. Now, letâs get going. You two can continue this later.â
âFine, you go outside. Weâll be there.â
âNo, Iâm not leaving this space until you two come out of that office.â He was adamant, and I knew that we would not be able to send him away.
Letting out a sigh, I unwrapped my legs from Xavierâs waist and got down. After straightening my dress, I turned around to face Marquez.
âYou sure know how to spoil a moment,â I said, and he smiled.
âAre you sure you want to come to the meeting with a boner?â I heard Marquez ask Xavier.
âItâs all your fault. Now shut up and walk,â Xavier yelled at Marquez, and this made me smile. As I walked out of the house, I turned around to face Marquez again.
âWhere are we going?â My mind was still clouded.
âTo Samuelâs office.â
âRight.â
