Spencer had dealt with many embarrassing moments in his life. In fifth grade he got his first kiss from Angel Garcia but, while they were kissing, he tripped over his laces and accidentally cut her lip with his braces. She needed to get stitches. In seventh grade, Oliver pantsed him while he was performing in their school's production of 'West Side Story', much to the chagrin of many angry parents. Oliver also pantsed him in eighth grade while he was trying to talk to a girl he liked. Oliver really was a douchebag when he was young. Then, in his senior year of high school, Spencer believed his best friend Madeline Lockhart, whom he had had a crush on since forever, finally reciprocated his feelings for her. He was ready to tell her how he felt about her during a gala. He had it all planned. However, during the gala, a video of her was leaked in which she admitted she had been stringing Spencer along and instead loved Oliver. It was a real scandal and obviously more embarrassing for Madeline but, still, Spencer felt humiliated. In front of their entire social circle, a circle that extended to all the private prep schools in Manhattan, Spencer was portrayed as a lovesick fool who had fallen to Madeline's ways. He didn't think it could get worse.

And then it did.

Amelie's mouth was hung open in the shape of an 'O' as Spencer called her his girlfriend. Josh had an obnoxious smile on his face. Maria cringed and turned away to busy herself with her drink. Even Paulo and August, who were making out, stopped to stare at Spencer.

"I... I didn't mean- I don't.... I'm going to go now."

Amelie reached out to pull him back but Spencer pulled away and began to quickly walk towards the exit. It felt like everyone was staring at him and he couldn't bring himself to make eye contact with anyone. He practically bursted through the side doors which lead to an alley outside and leaned against the wall.

"Oh no," He groaned to himself. "Why would you do that! Idiot, idiot, idiot." He knocked his head against the brick wall and groaned again.

The doors opened again and out walked an angel in a shimmery gold dress.

"Kingsley? I think we should talk..."

Spencer refused to look up at Amelie and kept his eyes focused on the intricate lacing of his Balenciaga sneakers. Amelie moved closer to him and leaned back beside him. For a few moments they were both silenced by their busy thoughts.

"I'm sorry," Spencer finally uttered. "I embarrassed you in front of your friends and I assumed shit I shouldn't have assumed."

Amelie nodded quietly and opened her mouth to speak before closing it again. Suddenly the doors swung open again as a random guy walked out and bent over, proceeding to throw up. Amelie began to dry-heave as her face turned pale.

"Oh god. Let's-HEURGH- let's get out of here," She gagged.

She leaned on Spencer as he guided her out of the alley way and onto the side of the road. They walked towards a huge park facing the club, right across the road.As soon as they got away, Amelie turned to Spencer and started to giggle. Spencer couldn't help himself as a laugh escaped his lips.

"That was so gross."

"I can't stand the sight of people throwing up," She explained. "I have this terrible reflex that makes me vomit when I see others get sick!"

"At least we got you out in time! You went really pale!"

"At least it balanced my Asian flush!"

Amelie chuckled and slipped her hand in Spencer's. Their laughter quietened down as Spencer suddenly noticed the contact between them.

"So..." Spencer exhaled.

Amelie squeezed his hand and pulled him towards a metal street bench.

"Kingsley..." She began. "It's just that....we never said we were exclusive or that we were dating so I assumed we weren't. Josh and I are just friends, I promise. He wants to be more so that's why he kissed me. Josh and I have a complicated history and I really am sorry. It really meant nothing."

Spencer nodded. "Maybe I overreacted. We've only been together for like five days. It's just... I know it's probably too soon to say this but I like you."

Amelie leaned her head on his shoulder. "I like you too. I don't like Josh in that way. In the way I like you."

"It's okay. We all got that one person who we'll always have a complicated history with."

"So what do we do now?"

Letting out a long breath, Spencer leaned back on the bench to think. Was he ready for a relationship? Because, the fact was, he still saw Madeline everywhere. He never allowed himself to move on. From the moment he woke up to the moment he fell asleep, Madeline saying goodbye to him and kissing him was played in a never-ending montage. But she was getting married. She moved on. So why couldn't he?

"I think I'd like to be exclusive," Spencer said softly. "I want to be with you."

Amelie's fingers moved to his chin, raising his head to make him look at her. A marvelous smile appeared on her face as she closed the gap between them and kissed him.

"I want that too."

"So I can call you my girlfriend?"

"Kingsley," She sighed softly in a tone that made Spencer's smile drop slightly. "I never really do relationships. So this is all new to me. Can we put off putting labels on this?"

"But you said you want to be with me..."

"And I do! I really do! But labels freak me out. Maybe in a week or a month we can but this is all still new."

"So we'll be exclusive and we'll technically be going out but we can't put any labels on our relationship for the time being?"

Amelie buried her head in her hands. "It sounds crazy when you say it like that! But yes. That's what I want..."

"Okay. We'll do that."

"Really?"

Spencer smiled at her and placed a kiss on the back of her hand. "It's really no big deal. I'll wait until you're ready."

Amelie's cherub face lit up. "Thank you. Now let's go home because this night has been chaotic enough."

"Which home?"

Throwing her arm around Spencer's waist, Amelie let out a long tired sigh and smiled. "Surprise me."

Spencer lay cuddled in his bed with Amelie in his arms. The sun was beginning to spill through the curtains and it was nearly time for each of them to go their own way. Amelie had an early class for her Masters and Spencer had an appointment with some producers about writing a script. But neither of them could bring themselves to get up.

"So you're going to write a script, huh?" Amelie said softly. "That's pretty impressive."

"I haven't approved yet. It might not suit me."

"So what does suit you? What's your niche?"

Spencer thought for a moment. "I don't know. One thing I do know is that I want to write a movie about you."

"Is that so?"

"Yeah. I might call it 'Amelie'."

Amelie bursted out laughing. "Clearly you're not a fan of French cinema if you haven't watched the 2001 hit movie 'Amelie'."

"I watched it. But my one will be better."

Amelie rolled her eyes. "I don't know about that...."

The laid in silence, both smiling at the ceiling.

"Hey Kingsley?"

"Yeah?"

"Who's your Josh?"

"My what?"

"Your 'Josh'. That one past love that you have a long complicated history with."

"Oh." Spencer didn't know if he was comfortable sharing that information. But he wanted to be honest. "A girl called Madeline."

"Lockhart?! Woah, you were in love with Madeline Lockhart?!"

"You know her?"

"Of course! Everyone knows her! I don't think I can even compare to her!" Amelie joked.

But even though she was only joking, Spencer frowned.

"You're perfect, Amelie. Don't ever feel you have to compare yourself with her."

Amelie fell quiet for a second. "Um, yeah, okay."

Spencer kissed her slowly. "I'm really lucky to have found you."

Her smile made Spencer feel warm and content.

"And I'm really lucky to have found you, Kingsley."
