65 Recruiting a Friend
I was snapped out of my thoughts by the sound of footsteps coming towards us. I tensed up, preparing for a fight, but it was September.
âChill,â September chuckled, as if reading my mind. âItâs just me.â
âOh, sorry,â I said, relaxing a little. âWhatâs up?â
âItâs fine,â she said. âJust was talking with Mr. Robbs from Mage History Class. He recommended a few good books on mage history if youâre interested.â
âWell I mean, I ainât really attending classes after I won the WAC contest really,â I said.
âI figured as much,â September said with a nod. âBut he did say that if weâre interested, heâd be willing to us some books.â
âHeh,â I said with a nod. âFigures.â September then took a seat next to me and began to munch on an apple.
âSo, whatâs been up with you lately?â she asked.
âWhat do you mean by that?â I asked. She chuckled, âItâs quite self explanatory, donât you think?â âOh, right,â I said with a nod. âIâve just been hanging out with Malachi while you werenât here, and uh, not much else.â
.....
âI see,â September said. âWell Iâm glad you two are getting along better.â
âYeah,â I said with a smile and a nod. âHeâs not so bad, once you get to know him.â
âThatâs good,â she said. âIâm glad you think so.â
We then lapsed into silence as we continued to eat our lunch. It was nice to have some company, but at the same time, it was a little awkward. Not sure why, but it was.
âSo, what are your plans for after lunch?â September finally broke the silence.
âI donât know,â I said with a shrug. âWhat about you?â
âOh, I was just going to go to the library and do some research,â she said.
âResearch on what?â I asked.
âOf course, the Cybertron thing. Itâs peaceful and quiet there, which is great for my concentration,â she added. âI can check to see what I can learn about it,â she said. âOh right, right, right,â I said, snapping my fingers. âI forgot about that.â
âYeah,â she said with a nod. âSo I guess Iâll see you later then?â
âYeah, see you later September,â I said as she got up and left.
Once she was gone, I turned to Malachi and sighed. âLibraries, huh?â
He nodded. âNever really liked them.â

Time passed and now it was time for us to start talking with Mr. Drails. Malachi said we should wait, that we had to be sure, but I was getting impatient.
âI say we go now,â I said. âThe longer we wait, the more time Rocke can prepare.â
âFine,â Malachi said with a sigh. âBut let me do the talking.â September chuckled, âWho every said you were talking?â This caused Malachi to give September a withering look.
We approached Mr. Drailsâs office and I could see him through the window, hunched over his desk, looking at something intently.
âHe looks busy,â I said.
âThatâs because he is,â Malachi replied. âBut heâll make time for this, for sure.â He knocked on the door as Mr. Drailsâs eyes immediately lit up and stared at us.
He motioned us in and we took our seats. Mr. Drails leaned back in his chair and steepled his fingers. âSo, what can I do for you?â he asked.
Malachi cleared his throat before beginning. âWeâre here to talk about the Cybertron mission,â he said. âThe whole âSave Tisiahâ thing. We found the address.â
Mr. Drailsâs eyes widened and he sat up straighter. âYou did?â he asked. âThatâs fantastic news! Where is it?â Then September handed him the sticky note, where he looked with thought.
âHmm,â he said. âIâm not familiar with this area. Is it in the city?â
âNo,â I piped up. âWe think itâs actually in the middle of nowhere. The address is very unfamiliar anywhere in the world to be honest.â
âInteresting,â Mr. Drails said, tapping his chin. âBut that doesnât matter. We need to go there as quickly as we can. Iâll try and get the coordinates of the place by tomorrow, so you guys can go there. Have you guys talked to your new teammates yet?â
âNo not yet, but Iâll reach them soon after this,â I said.
âGood, good,â Mr. Drails said. âIâll be in touch.â
And with that, we were dismissed.
We walked out the door, as September looked at me with hope in her eyes. âJust talk to them alright, Iâll try to see more on the Cybertron with Malachi okay?â I nodded as we went our separate ways for now.
Iâm not sure where Matt or Mari is. Once it ended, I never was able to find them at all to be honest. It was gonna be hard to find them to tell them the news, but Iâll have to try. I began to walk through the halls, as students galore were talking and laughing.
It was really cramped, and the unpleasant sensation began to radiate through my body. I walked faster, as I wanted to get away from the people. I turned the corner and saw Mari, who was talking with some other girl.
She looked very clean since the whole WAC contest, where she was more covered in dirt than before. It made me feel a little happy, as I saw her laughing and joking around.
I approached her and the other girl gave me a weird look.
The girl was wearing some jean jacket, with orange hair and blue jeans. She also had on a backpack and high top converse shoes. âWho are you?â the girl asked.
âIâm a friend of Mariâs,â I said, as she nodded. âDo you guys need uh...â the girl said as she slowly walked away. âIâm gonna use the bathroom.â
âO-Oh, okay,â I said, as the girl walked away. I turned to Mari, who was looking at me with a weird expression. âI didnât think you were gonna see me again,â Mari said. âWhy are you here?â
âI wanted to talk to you about something,â I said. âItâs kind of urgent.â
âOh, okay,â she said. âGo ahead.â I cleared my throat, feeling weird for some reason. âSo there were some things that happened and we needed new teammates. I was hoping you could join us on our mission.â
âWhat mission?â she asked.
âItâs a long story,â I said. âBut we need to go save someone.â
âOh, like the President?â she asked.
âNo, but someone you may know from the WAC contest.â
âNikki?â
I shook my head. âNo, itâs not Nikki. Itâs Tisiah.â
Mariâs eyes widened. âTisiah? Oh no, what happened?â she asked.
âHe, got kidnapped by someone from the TSA, we need to save him before itâs too late,â I said.
âOh my,â she said, as her hand flew to her head. âThatâs terrible! Iâll help you guys, of course.â
âReally?â I asked.
âYeah,â she said. âLetâs confirm it with Mr. Drails!â I held up my finger, âWell, I was going to ask Matt and someone named Rin who helped us in the WAC contest.â
âOh, thatâs no problem,â Mari said. âI know where Matt is. Heâs in the library studying for a test.â
âA test?â
âNot the academy test, but you know, his actual school test.â I nodded, as I remembered he was still attending school.
âSo, should we go now?â she asked.
âMight as well,â I said.

We began to walk over to the library, which I had no idea where it was, but I just followed Mari who seemed to know somehow. We walked for a while in silence, before Mari decided to talk again. âSo, how have you been?â she asked.
âWell, not too well I guess,â I said. âI mean, I just found out that my friends and I are going to have to leave our homes and go on a dangerous mission to save a person who tried to kill me before.â
âThatâs how itâs always gonna be,â Mari said. âItâs hard most of the time.â
âI know,â I said. âBut itâs worth it.â
âYeah, it is,â she said. âTo save people and to keep them from destroying our way of life. Itâs what we have to do.â
âI know,â I said. âBut itâs still hard.â We finally arrived at the library, and it must be a very big one. The building was quite wide, very wide in fact.
It had many different levels and a big sign that said âLibraryâ in big letters. âThis is the place,â Mari said.
The building had this brown and gray pattern and the structure was quite exhilarating. It made me feel a little giddy, as I had never seen such a big library before. âLetâs go in,â Mari said, as she walked in.
The place was really just something else. The tiles when walking in were gold and the chandeliers were a bright white. It was really something to see. Then after about a fifty feet ahead was the actual library, with shelves upon shelves upon shelves of books. It was like a maze and I got lost just looking at it.
Many students were there for some reason, as I saw them walking around with their books. âThis place is amazing,â I said.
âYeah, it is,â Mari said. âAlright, letâs find Matt.â We began to search, me taking the right and her taking the left. With every shelf hallway, I keenly looked through, trying to find him. But he was nowhere to be found.
