Chapter 13: The Alphaâs Fury
The moon hung low in the sky, casting an eerie glow over the tense battlefield. Jungkook stood tall at the front of his pack, his golden eyes locked onto the rival Alpha, who smirked arrogantly from the opposite side. The tension was thick, and Taehyung, standing just beside Jungkook, could already tell that things were about to get messy.
The rival Alpha, a man named Jisung, took a slow step forward, his arms crossed over his chest. âSo, this is the infamous Alpha Jungkook,â he sneered. âIâve heard a lot about you.â
Jungkook didnât flinch. âFunny. Iâve never heard of you.â
Taehyung snorted, covering his mouth to hide his laughter. âOoooh, burn. You should apply some aloe vera for that one.â
Some of the pack warriors chuckled, but the mood quickly turned dark again as Jisungâs expression twisted in anger. âI donât need you to know me. What matters is that I know you. And I know that youâre weak.â
Jungkookâs eyes darkened. âExcuse me?â
Jisung smirked, gesturing lazily toward the pack behind him. âEveryone knows you let your so-called âmateâ and pups suffer while you sit on your throne, acting like a king. The whole world whispers about how your Luna is neglected, how your pups donât even carry your name.â
Jungkookâs entire body went rigid. The temperature around them seemed to drop as his aura grew suffocatingly powerful. But before Jungkook could respond, Taehyung took a slow, deliberate step forward.
âYou know,â Taehyung began, voice dripping with amusement, âI had a feeling you were dumb, but wowâyou really exceeded my expectations.â
Jisungâs smirk faltered. âWhat?â
âI mean, it takes a special kind of idiot to walk into MY territory,â Taehyung continued, voice loud enough for everyone to hear, âinsult MY mate, and think that youâll leave with your limbs still attached.â
Jisungâs pack shuffled nervously as Jungkookâs warriors grinned, clearly enjoying their Lunaâs performance.
âYouâre just a bitter little Alpha with an inferiority complex,â Taehyung went on, crossing his arms. âDid daddy not hug you enough? Did your last Luna run off because your tiny brain couldnât handle an actual relationship?â
One of Jisungâs Betas let out an awkward cough, trying to stifle a laugh.
âYou dareâ?!â Jisung snarled.
Taehyung held up a finger. âNo, no, donât interrupt. Iâm on a roll. You came here thinking you could intimidate us? You came here thinking you could take our land? Sweetheart, you mustâve lost your damn mind.â
Jungkook smirked, amused despite his anger. He knew Taehyung had a sharp tongue, but watching him verbally tear apart a rival Alpha? It was oddly satisfying.
âYou see, my mate over hereââ Taehyung gestured to Jungkook ââhas been holding back because heâs a civilized, responsible leader. But me? Oh, Iâm petty. And you just gave me the perfect excuse to let him loose.â
Taehyung turned to Jungkook with an innocent smile. âBaby, can we kill them now?â
Jungkook cracked his knuckles. âGladly.â
Jisung barely had time to react before Jungkook lunged, moving with the kind of speed only an Alpha of his caliber possessed. His fist connected with Jisungâs jaw so hard that the rival Alpha was sent flying backward, crashing into the dirt with a strangled gasp.
Chaos erupted.
Jungkookâs pack charged forward, meeting Jisungâs warriors head-on. Growls, roars, and the sound of flesh colliding filled the night air. Wolves shifted left and right, their howls echoing through the battlefield.
Taehyung, meanwhile, was having the time of his life.
He dodged a clumsy Beta who tried to attack him, flipping them onto their back with ease. âReally? Thatâs all youâve got? My seven-year-old daughter fights harder than you!â
Another enemy charged, and Taehyung gracefully sidestepped before delivering a sharp kick to their gut. They crumpled to the ground, groaning.
âPathetic,â he sighed. âWhat kind of third-rate villain monologue was that earlier? âI know who you are, Jungkookâ? Please, at least come up with something original.â
Jungkook, meanwhile, was utterly ruthless. His wolf was barely restrained as he tore through Jisungâs warriors, making it clear that no one touched what was his.
Jisung, blood dripping from his mouth, forced himself to stand. âY-You think this is over?!â
Jungkook tilted his head. âYouâre still talking? Impressive.â
Jisung let out a feral growl, shifting into his wolf form. His large black wolf lunged forward, teeth baredâ
Only for Jungkook to catch him mid-air by the throat.
The entire battlefield froze.
Jungkookâs grip tightened, his golden eyes glowing ominously. âYou made one mistake, Jisung,â he said, voice eerily calm. âYou touched whatâs mine.â
Then, with a sickening crack, he snapped Jisungâs neck.
Silence.
The remaining members of Jisungâs pack scrambled back in horror. Without their Alpha, they were leaderlessâdefeated. Jungkook let Jisungâs body drop to the ground before turning to the rest of them, his aura flaring dangerously.
âLeave,â he ordered. âAnd tell the other packs what happens when they think they can challenge me.â
The survivors didnât hesitate. They turned tail and ran, disappearing into the night.
The battle was over.
Taehyung dusted off his hands, sighing dramatically. âWell, that was fun.â
Jungkook turned to him, still glowing with residual rage. âYouâre insane.â
Taehyung smirked, stepping closer. âAnd yet, you love me.â
Jungkook huffed, pulling him into a tight embrace. âDamn right, I do.â
The pack erupted into victorious cheers, but Jungkook barely paid attention. He held Taehyung close, inhaling his scent, grounding himself in the presence of his mate.
The threats werenât over. His stepmother was still scheming. Enemies still lurked.
But for tonight, at least, they had won.
And anyone who dared to come for his family nextâ¦
Would burn.
