I greeted them both back with a slight bow. âAre you two from around here? Your friend is really cool, maybe we can meet more often.".
âI'm Steven, by the way". The smaller one offered me his hand. âI'm Marc,", the other one added quickly after. The situation was kinda awkward, but I still wanted to be nice and told them my name as well.
âUhm...we are actually from Korea, but I live with a friend of mine here in Vancouver. And he's visiting me.". I shifted in my seat.
âIs there a chance to get to know you better?", suddenly one of them asked, which threw me completely off track. âWhat the fuck man?!", the other one hissed and punched him slightly. I startled and slipped a small bit to the side.
âAhh...uhm...I'm not sure...".
âWhat's wrong, baby?", Heeseung suddenly appeared behind the two of them and made his way to me. âAre they bothering you?". He stared at them, like he was about to beat them up.
Something in my body made me reach for his hand and clasp it tightly. I wasn't really afraid, but I took the opportunity to show them I'm definitely not interested.
The two seemed to have understood quickly and shuffled back to their friends, a bit pissed off. They mumbled something unintelligible before one of them raised his hand in farewell.
âGosh, why are so many guys interested in you?", Heeseung laughed as we watched the group leave. âI could ask you the same!", I tilted my head and met his piercing gaze.
âOkay, come one! It's your turn.", he suddenly said and pulled me along with him, since I was still clinging to his hand.
âThrow a basket.".
âNot when you are watching...", I whined and refused to try it. âShould i turn around?", he joked but of course didn't.
I focused on the net and bit my lower lip when I finally threw the ball.
Of course I missed.
With a disappointed but not surprised smile, I wanted to sit back down on the bench, but Heeseung ran after the ball and passed it to me again.
"Try again!".
I did like he said, but missed again. âI'm not good at stuff like this. It's embarrassing.".
âIt's not embarrassing. Wait.", He lined up behind me and handed the ball forward from over my head. âIt's the easiest when you try to hit either the top right or left corner. Don't focus on the net that much.".
âIt's the last try, okay?!". I said, while turning a little, just to notice his head was right next to my ear.
He nodded in agreement.
I squinted my eyes and try to hit the corner of the board. But his time, I missed it completely.
It was not even close.
Heeseung could no longer hold back his laughter, and I flopped down on the floor in a huff. âI said I'm horrible at ball sports.".
"Nah, you're not.". I tilted my head to the side as if he was messing with me. "Okay, maybe you are a little bit horrible.".
"This builds me up for real"I joked and watched as he fetched the ball again and bounced it on the floor a few times. I leaned back and looked up at the night sky. The stars were clearly visible because the sky was clear, and the weather very cold.
"Hyeo, you will get sick," Heeseung complained and dropped the ball under his arm. He held out both of his hands to help me up, and I got up from the ground with his weight to balance me.
"You are the one, running around without a jacket.".
"Because I'm not cold.".
"You get sick even faster when you sweat and then you are out in the cold.".
"Are you my mom?", he laughed.
"Are you my mom?". I replied with a grin.
Heeseung's gaze wandered to the floor, shaking his head. He couldn't stifle a smirk either. "You are the most stubborn person I know.".
"Aww...because you've never managed to get me to listen to you?", I asked playfully, which added a gleam in his eyes I've never seen before and made his larynx bob up and down visibly with a provocative gulp. I got distracted for a second, as this has always been one of the hottest body parts of his.
"Or because you've never managed to shut me up?".
"Hyeona...", I noticed how he tried to control his breathing.
"What?"
In the next second, he grabbed my waist and pulled me impossibly close to him, while he smashed his lips against mine. Immediately, all my thoughts vanished and I longed only for him. His touch. His taste. My hand slowly moved up to his face and cupped his cheek to deepen it, causing his grip around my waist to tighten. It almost seemed as if he never intended to let go of me. Afraid to lose me again. A smile graced my lips as I noticed the same thing happening to his.
I really had to get my act together. "Stop laughing.", I smacked his chest slightly, while whispering into the kiss. I adjusted my soft movements of his lips, and the fire inside my body caused my heartbeat to stop for a moment as his hands moved from my waist down to the back of my thighs, lifting me up from the floor.
Neither of us noticed how a low rumble approached from affar, and isolated raindrops drizzled down on us. I have never felt this connected to a person before. We melted into each other with our bodies nestled together.
I wrapped my arms around his neck to straighten up my posture. Our kisses slowed down, and I noticed how Heeseung carefully lip-locked my bottom lip, while pulling away. My thumps gently caressed the back of his neck, while he glanced at me. Almost as if he was asking for permission.
The butterflies in my stomach went crazy when i looked into his black bambi eyes, which seemed so much deeper because of the darkness.
"I wanna go home with you. I don't wanna stay here any longer."
I leaned down to peck his lips again, as a bright lightning bolt flashed through the area, closely followed by a thunder.
Worried, I looked up at the sky, where a thick drop of rain splashed directly onto my forehead. "This doesn't look that good.".
Heeseung followed my gaze, but through the pitch-black night, no clouds could be seen in the sky. But that was no longer necessary, because not even a second later, a heavy downpour broke over us.
"Holy shit, what's that?". His voice was barely audible against the loud pattering of the rain, and we literally had to shout at each other to understand anything at all. He jogged over and grabbed his jacket and the ball from the stands before he came running to me to the exit.
"You take this, and I'll take this," he ordered, handing me a sleeve of his jacket and pulling it over our heads like an umbrella. That didn't help much, because we were completely soaked after a few seconds, and the jacket wasn't waterproof at all.
When I noticed that we walked back in the direction from which we had come, I stopped on the spot, which almost caused Heeseung to slip on the road.
"WHAT?", he yelled.
"THERE AREN'T ANY BUSSES ANYMORE. ITS AFTER 1AM!".
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN? WE ARE IN A BIG CITY HERE!", his head was impossibly close to mine again, since this was the only way of understanding each other. Nevertheless, my heart started racing again. Even though I knew this was absolutely not the right moment because we were probably just an inch away from being fried by lightning.
"THE LAST ONE LEFT AT 1 O'CLOCK, THE NEXT ONE WON'T COME FOR ANOTHER HOUR!".
Heeseung pulled away slightly and seemed to be weighing something up. I could see that in his blank stare.
"OKAY, COME ON.". He suddenly maneuvered us exactly 180 degrees in the other direction and we headed away from the bus stop. "WHERE ARE WE GOING?". I followed him confused and pulled the jacket tighter around my head. My fingers had almost turned purple due to the freezing cold, but I ignored it as best as I could.
"MY HOTEL IS AT THE END OF THE ROAD. LET'S WAIT THERE UNTIL THE RAIN HAS STOPPED.".
