Esther gazed at Bradley in disbelief, her pale lips quivering as tears welled up in her eyes.
With a look of disgust, Chadwick taunted, âWhatâs wrong, Esther? Canât handle seeing Bradley marry my sister?â
âPendleton, Mandy saved my life by donating her liver. I owe her that,â Bradley retorted with a smirk.
Chadwick pushed Esther toward Bradley, asking, âAnd what about her?â
Bradley showed no warmth and responded indifferently. âYou donât know the whole story. I married her because of my grandfather. If you want to marry her, consider it her good fortune.â
âWarner, have you never loved Esther?â Chadwick inquired.
Bradleyâs demeanor cooled as he looked at Esther. âI swear to God, Iâve never loved Esther.â
Unable to bear Bradleyâs hurtful words, Esther stepped back, ignored Chadwick and the others, and hastily left the room.
Witnessing Estherâs departure due to Bradleyâs words, Chadwick felt a renewed determination to make her his.
âWhether Mandy agrees to marry you depends on your sincerity,â Chadwick asserted.
Bradley remained calm and suggested, âHow about a double wedding, Pendleton? You marry Esther, and I marry Mandy?â
Chadwick chuckled heartily, âGreat idea! Maybe you should move to the neighboring hospital for a more convenient pursuit of Mandy.â
âIâll consider it,â Bradley replied.
Chadwick left the room in high spirits, humming a tune.
Bradley stared at the wedding details on his invitation with clenched fists, seething with killing intent.
Jasper observed Bradleyâs angered state and quietly exited the room with Jordyn.
âThank you for your assistance earlier,â Jasper expressed his gratitude once they were out of earshot.
Jordyn wore a polite smile. âMr. Searle, should you ever need my help, I can be there anytime.â
Jasperâs gaze remained in the direction Esther had gone, his voice heavy. âYou neednât trouble yourself with me. There has always been only one person in my heart-Esther.â
Jordyn smiled and replied, âI understand your feelings. My pursuit of you is my own affair. You donât need to reciprocate.â
Jasper fell silent, studying her. After a pause, he said, âEven if I can never develop feelings for you, youâre still willing to do so much for me?â
âYes,â Jordyn said candidly. âAs the saying goes, time reveals a personâs heart. Perhaps someday, youâll recognize my worth.â
âIn that case, letâs draft an agreement to pretend to be a couple. We can discuss the specifics with a lawyer. Goodbye.â
Jasper was worried about Esther, so he hurried toward the hospital where she was.
Esther had returned to the hospital not long ago. Her emotions were still unsettled when Chadwick barged into her room. âEsther!â Chadwick called out through gritted teeth.
