Mandy walked over to Esther and Jasper and said, âIâve decided to go along with your plan. The doctor says my motherâs in critical condition. After thinking it over, I canât let her pass away under someone elseâs control.
âMrs. Warner, Iâve agreed to donate my liver. In exchange, Iâd like Mr. Warner to act as my pretend fiance and you to play Chadwickâs fiancee. This is the biggest compromise I can offer.
âIf you can do it, weâll proceed with your plan. If not, please donât bother finding me. I need to care for my mom, and I donât have time for this.â
After voicing her conditions, Mandy returned to the ward without waiting for a response from Jasper and Esther.
Jasper turned to Esther and asked softly, âEsther, can you persuade Bradley?â
Esther shook her head.
âThen, let me handle this. Iâll try to convince him.â
Esther became anxious upon hearing Jasperâs decision. Remembering Bradleyâs erratic behavior yesterday, she warned, âJasper, no! You might make him angry.â
âDonât worry. I know what Iâm doing. Letâs go.â
When Jasper and Esther entered Bradleyâs ward, Bradleyâs eyes filled with anger. âEsther! Quill!â
Bradley quickly moved toward Esther, his hand reaching out menacingly.
Jasper stepped between them, firmly saying, âWarner, save your anger for later. I have something important to discuss with you. Esther, Kevin, please leave the room.â
Worry appeared in Estherâs eyes as she glanced at Jasper, who reassured her with a look, signaling that he could handle it.
Once Kevin and Esther left, Bradley clenched his fist and aimed it at Jasperâs face.
Jasper neither dodged nor retreated. Instead, he firmly caught Bradleyâs arm. âWarner, you have liver cancer, yet youâre filled with so much aggression?â
Bradley hissed through gritted teeth. âJasper, Iâm not dead yet, and youâre already eyeing my womanâ¦
âWarner!â Jasper let go of Bradleyâs arm, moved aside, and settled on a nearby sofa. âI understand.
Youâre jealous because of me and Esther. You even had Esther block me. I get that, too. But donât make things hard for her. She knelt to Mandy for your sake.â
Bradleyâs eyes turned icy. âJasper, if you have a shred of compassion-â
Cutting him off, Jasper declared icily, âIf I didnât care about Esther losing her appetite and sleep because of you, I wouldnât be sitting here now.
âBradley, if you had a shred of humanity left, youâd know that none of this is about you. Mandyâs mother is seriously ill and wants to meet her future son-in-law before she passes.
âI donât see an issue in you taking on that role for her liver. Otherwise, why would she even consider letting her daughter donate her liver to you? Would you let Felix donate his liver to a stranger when he grows up?â
âI donât need it!â Bradley roared.
Jasper responded with biting sarcasm. âWarner, if you truly donât want Mandyâs liver, then perhaps you should just die now and spare Esther the heartache.â
Bradleyâs handsome face darkened, and every word he uttered was laced with an unspoken threat.â
Jasper, mark my words. Even if I die, Iâll take Esther down with me.â
Bradley considered Esther as his own, and Jasper had no right to lay a finger on her.
