âWhat are you doing?â Esther was taken aback as the elderly couple unexpectedly tried to take her in broad daylight.
The couple spoke simultaneously. âMiss, weâre truly sorry, but weâre just regular parents.â
They only wanted their daughter to survive, even if it meant breaking the law.
âLet me go!
âHelp! Help!â
Esther was being forcefully dragged toward the operating room by the elderly couple. Unbeknownst to them, no doctor would dare perform a liver transplant on her without her consent.
A passerby, witnessing Estherâs struggle and pleas for help, kindly asked, âWhatâs going on?â
âThis is our daughter. Sheâs sick and doesnât want treatment. She wants to run away!â
âYes, thatâs correct!â
Hearing the elderly coupleâs explanation, the bystander chimed in. âMiss, listen to your parentsâ¦â
Esther couldnât take it anymore and snarled, âIâm not their daughter!â
âPlease, dear. Itâs just a minor operation. Donât be scared.â
âIt wonât hurt at all! Be good.â
Just then, Jasper appeared like a guardian angel. âRelease her.â
The elderly couple demanded angrily, âWho are you? Step aside and mind your own business!â
âJasper! Help me!â
Esther had the strength to break free, but due to her weakened state and the elderly coupleâs unexpected actions, she became momentarily disoriented.
âIâm counting to three. If you donât let go, Iâll call the police.â
Reluctantly, the elderly couple released their grips on Esther, realizing that Jasper was not to be trifled with.
They abandoned their earlier fierceness and wore pitiable expressions. âMiss, please donât blame us.
Weâre just desperate to save our daughter.â
Jasper roared, âLeave!â
The couple pleaded incessantly, âMiss, please, help-â
âHello, police?â Jasper didnât want to waste more time with the elderly couple and immediately called the police.
Fearing the police would take them away and that no one would care for their daughter, the couple hurriedly ran away.
âEsther, what just happened?â
Tears welled up in Estherâs eyes in response to Jasperâs concerned question. âThey found out that my liver is a match for their daughter and want me to undergo a liver transplant for her.
Jasper frowned disapprovingly. âAre they trying to force you into donating your liver?â
1 âI can actually understand their desperation.â Esther thought of Bradley in the emergency room and sighed deeply. âJasper, Bradley has late-stage liver cancer. He needs a liver transplant, too. Iâve been tested, but Iâm not a match. I canât save him.â
Jasper looked at Esther in shock. âIs there an issue with the test? Bradley is so healthy. How could he have liver cancer?â
âItâs true. He has liver cancer. He coughed up blood and fainted!â
