âL⦠Iâ¦â
Esther trembled as she looked at the gruesome photo once more, her fear and panic still very much alive.
Bradleyâs expression was dark and foreboding, his eyes resembling an enigmatic black hole that seemed to draw Esther in.
âWho sent this to you?â he asked.
Estherâs gaze bore into Bradleyâs hand, which held the phone. To her immense relief, there was no sign of any injury or surgery. His hand was entirely unharmed.
âBradley, your handâ¦â
In response, Bradley tossed Estherâs phone onto the bed and seized her delicate neck, sending a sharp. pain coursing through her body. Her lips quivered, but a smile of relief formed beneath her tears.
This was no dream-Bradleyâs hand was whole.
âWhy are you smiling?â Bradley demanded menacingly.
Despite her tears, Esther continued to smile. âBradley, your hand is intact⦠Your hand is fine⦠This is wonderful!â
A glistening tear slipped from her eye and landed on the back of Bradleyâs hand, feeling like a drop of scalding oil. He suddenly released his grip on her neck and loomed over her dominantly.
âYouâre so gullible that Iâm beginning to question Felixâs intelligence.â
He couldnât believe Esther had fallen for such an obvious Photoshop trick.
Esther wiped her tears away, took a deep breath, and looked at Bradley with teary eyes. âFelix is incredibly intelligent.â
She meant Felix had a high IQ.
Bradley snorted. âHeâs smart because of me. If he had taken after youâ¦â
âThatâs precisely why Felix is a genius!â Estherâs gaze softened as she thought of Felix. It then reminded her of her missing daughter. She asked tentatively, âIâm sure our daughter is just as adorable, isnât she?â
Bradley looked at Esther in exasperation, his eyebrows furrowing. His tone turned hostile. âWith all your questions, youâre just trying to find out where she is, arenât you?â
âYes!â Esther desperately wanted to know her daughterâs whereabouts and well-being. She couldnât hold back any longer.
Bradley gestured for her to come closer. âCome here.â
Esther believed Bradley would finally reveal where her daughter was, so she eagerly approached him.
In one swift motion, Bradley pressed her onto the sofa, unbuckled his belt with one hand, and used it to bind her wrists.
âBradley!â
Esther turned frantic, pleading with Bradley.
No! She had recently undergone a miscarriage and hadnât fully recovered. If Bradley acted recklessly now, she could get an infection.
âWhat are you doing?!â.
Bradley forcefully pushed Estherâs head away and pressed her down onto the soft sofa pillow.
