Bradleyâs icy eyes fixed on Esther, revealing a hint of coldness. Her face displayed mixed emotions, caught between staying silent and speaking up. His lips twitched slightly, and his words pierced Estherâs heart like an icicle.
âHow kind of you, Chadwick!â Kevin noticed the resentment in Bradleyâs tone as he leaned in, ready to clear the misunderstanding.
However, Esther discreetly shook her head, signaling him to stay back, Silence was their only option. Bradley worried that angering Chadwick might cost him a liver donation.
Chadwick seemed pleased with Bradleyâs response and burst into laughter. âMr. Warner, letâs consider ourselves brothers from today. Please take care of my sister, Mandy. As for your ex-wife, rest assured, sheâs in good hands.â
Bradley smiled subtly. âChadwick, if youâd shown interest in this woman earlier, Iâd have gladly handed her over!â
Chadwick shrugged. âMr. Warner, Iâm more interested in the possibility of her having triplets. Isnât that exciting?â
Suppressing his anger, Bradley approached Chadwick. âYouâre not wrong, Chadwick. She might have.
flaws, but sheâs fertile. So, I wish you a plentiful crop of ten in advance.â
I Chadwick paused before asking, âTen? Isnât that more like something a sow would produce?â
âIsnât that her purpose?â Bradley retorted, his words cutting deep, seemingly unconcerned about Estherâs feelings.
Kevin couldnât bear it any longer. âEnough! What are you two doing, demeaning a woman like this?â
Both men turned their attention to Kevin. Bradley shot back, âWeâre demeaning her? Is she even worth that much?â
Kevinâs fists clenched, ready to intervene, when Mandy interrupted. âBrother, the city hall is closing soon!â
âRight, letâs focus on what we came for.â
The group got into the car.
Kevin wanted to walk away but couldnât, given Estherâs vulnerability.
His gaze rested on Mandy. âIf it werenât for her being a perfect liver match for Bradley, would Esther endure all this humiliation? Despite her sacrifices, Bradley continues to belittle her,â he pondered.
Finally, they reached city hall. Their marriage certificate had gone missing, so Bradley and Esther needed a new one before filing for divorce, using the standard form provided.
âChadwick, I want custody of Felix!â Bradley asserted.
Disinterested in Esther and Bradleyâs son, Chadwick casually said, âTake him. I understand you donât want him calling me âdad.â
âAbsolutely not!â Esther declared. âFelixâs custody belongs to me!â
Bradley smirked as he casually placed his pen on the table.
