Thirty minutes later, Kevin arrived at the hospital and promptly sought out a hepatologist for Estherâs examination. Despite their best efforts to expedite the procedures, it was noon before all the tests were completed.
Kevin received an urgent work call during lunch at a nearby restaurant, forcing him to leave abruptly.
Esther, dining alone, ordered several dishes that Bradley favored and personally delivered them to the detention center.
She needed to see if Bradleyâs hand had been severed.
Sitting in the visitor room, Esther was gripped by anxiety.
As Bradley was about to exit the detention room, a group of burly men obstructed his path. They spoke subserviently. âBoss, please hold on.â
Bradley arched an eyebrow and asked nonchalantly, âWhatâs the issue?â
âBoss, Mr. Pendleton instructed us to remove your arm. If you leave like this and itâs discovered we didnât follow his orders, weâll be in trouble.â

âBradley, what happened to your hand⦠Does it hurt?â Esther asked, her voice filled with genuine concern.
Glancing at the medical gauze on his arm, Bradley smirked and applied slight pressure, causing a faint bruise to appear on Estherâs delicate face. Her tearful eyes reflected Bradleyâs unparalleled features.
âDo you want to give it a try?â Bradley asked coldly.
Esther knew that the detention center was not a place to stay. Anyone who entered there was not to be underestimated. Those who were kind would be stepped all over.
âBradley, Iâm sorry. Itâs all my fault,â Esther said, looking at the once-triumphant Bradley, now imprisoned.
Yes, it was all her fault. She was not cautious enough.
If she had not blindly followed the waiter when she heard about Felixâs accident, she would not have fallen into this trap naively.
If Chadwick had not set her up, Bradley would not have injured him to save her.
Bradleyâs fingers lightly traced across Estherâs pale face. Deep inside, an impulse to ruthlessly torment her surged.
Suddenly, he lowered his head and kissed Estherâs tender lips. He enveloped her like a towering tree that blocked everything outâ¦
