âMr. Warner, did the Quill family detain you for causing Madamâs miscarriage?â
Bradley took a drag from his cigarette and replied coldly, âYes.â
âBradley, are you even human?â Kevin grabbed his things and stormed out, muttering curses under his breath, âIf I ever get involved in your affairs again, Iâm cursed!â
He was a human, a doctor. Why did he help Bradley do such terrible things just because Esther loved him? Her love for him didnât give him the right to mistreat her!
Jonathan watched Kevin leave and felt a pang of jealousy. He wished he could just walk away.
Bradley finished his cigarette and extinguished it on the table. âGive me paper and a pen.â
Jonathan quickly complied, handing over the requested items.
With a firm grip on the pen, Bradley forcefully wrote four characters on the paper, spelling out âWill.â
Jonathan held his breath, not daring to make a sound when he saw the letters.
In the quiet visitorâs room, the only sound was the scratching of the pen on paper. Initially, Jonathan had thought Bradley was faking advanced-stage liver cancer to gain an advantage in the divorce custody battle. But watching him draft a will while still in his prime stirred empathy in him, man to man.
Bradley handed the completed will to Jonathan.
âSafeguard this will.â
Jonathan solemnly accepted Bradleyâs handwritten will, nodding seriously.
âYou have my word, Mr. Warner.â
Bradley rose from his seat with indifference and departed.
As he observed Bradley, a man once brimming with vitality but now diminished, Jonathan felt a swirl of confusing emotions. He proceeded to arrange Bradleyâs medical parole, only to find out it had been denied.
Upon stepping through the gate, Bradley was met by several tall, imposing men. They stood and grinned menacingly as they closed in on him.
Bradley smirked and thought, âLooks like these nobodies all think they can have a piece of me.â
In the small room, a flurry of blows echoed.
âHow dare that Warner kid lay a finger on Mr. Pendleton!â
âRight, Mr. Pendleton is their sole heir.â
âBut I heard the Quill family is scheming against himâ¦â
âThatâs elite business. We donât need to understand it. Letâs just do our jobs.â
After a while, Bradley unleashed the pent-up anger that had been simmering. He took a seat and coldly asked, âDid the Pendleton family send you?â
The battered and bruised men had expected an easy job. They hadnât anticipated Bradley to be such a formidable adversary.
âYes, sir, weâre from the Pendletons.â
âPlease spare us, sir!â
âSirâ¦â
Bradleyâs cold, unfeeling gaze met theirs as he issued a chilling command, âAfter you leave here, perform a task for me.â
+
âTell us what to do, sir. Anything.â
Serving a strong leader held more value for these men than any amount of money.
âKidnap Esther Quill and take her to the island in Southeast Varnusia.â
The men exchanged nervous glances, hesitating as they replied, âSir, Ms. Quill is protected by the Quill family. We wouldnât dareâ¦â
Bradley grinned malevolently, and his eyes turned cold. âUseless creatures have only one fate: death.â
