Bradley furiously hurled the phone to the ground.
âBradley, donât vent your anger on my phone!â Kevin stared at the shattered screen. Despite being wealthy enough to replace 10 or even 20 phones, the loss was irksome due to the data stored in it.
âWhoâs angry?â Bradley sneered. âDo you think Iâd get worked up over that woman? Is she even worth it?â
Kevin tightened his grip on the phone as he tried to reason with Bradley.
âBradley, donât call Esther that. After all, sheâs Felixâs mother.â
Bradley gritted his teeth, his eyes radiating intense hostility. âI wish she wasnât.â
Kevin sighed helplessly, took a seat on an adjacent sofa, and spoke calmly. âBradley, itâs a fact. Sheâs Felix and your daughtersâ motherâ¦â
âKevin, if youâre here to defend Esther, you can leave!â
âIâm the hospital director. Where can I go?â Kevin didnât want to argue much, given Bradleyâs patient status. âBradley, I intended to keep your condition from you, but as the person involved, you have the right to know.â
âGo on,â Bradley said, seemingly indifferent to his illness.
Kevin took a deep breath and struggled to utter the four words.
âYou have liver cancerâ¦â He fought to say the last two words. âAdvanced stage.â
Upon hearing that, Bradley immediately yanked the IV needle from his hand, and blood dripped to the floor like tears.
Kevin stood up in shock, exclaiming, âBradley, what are you doing?â
âDischarge me.â
âNo.â Kevin grabbed Bradley and said from a doctorâs perspective, âGiven your condition, you canât leave the hospital. You need treatment.â
Bradley used his bloody hand to push Kevin away, staining his white coat. âStay in the hospital? Whatâs the point? Death is inevitable!â
Bradleyâs malevolent eyes glimmered. Even if he died, he wanted to bring Esther down with him.
âBradley!â Kevin ignored Bradleyâs anger and blocked his path, trying to explain despite his fatigue, âThough your liver cancer is advanced, it hasnât spread. You can undergo a liver transplant. Itâs not a major surgery, and there shouldnât be any issues. Trust me!â
âA transplant? You want another personâs organ inside me?â Bradley, always arrogant, couldnât accept this idea.
âThe liver can regenerate,â Kevin explained with a deep breath. âThis isnât a major surgeryâ¦â
Bradley looked down at Kevin, sneering. âWhose liver are you going to use?â
Kevin hesitantly replied, âOur hospital staff and I have checked for matches. Among hundreds of us, weâll surely find one. If not, weâll keep looking. The liver is different from a kidney.â
Bradley boldly declared, âKevin, Iâm not afraid of death.â
âYes, you may not fear death, but have you thought about Felix? If you die, do you want him to take over the Warner Group at his age? Remember how challenging it was for you when you took over the company? And you havenât even found your twin daughters with Esther yet. Are you content to leave like this?â
Bradley glared at Kevin coldly and left the room, his determination unwavering-
Kevin relentlessly followed him, his gaze fixed on the blood on Bradleyâs fingertips. He pleaded earnestly, âBradley, under normal circumstances, finding a relative for a liver transplant is easier. How about we ask Felix-â
Bradley grabbed Kevinâs neck with his bloody hand, his gaze filled with hostility. âTouch him and see what happens!â
