âLetâs do it.â
Although Esther had already conducted two DNA tests with Pixie, she still refused to believe that Pixie was not her daughter. She wanted to conduct the final DNA test.
âEsther, have you thought about it? If Pixie is not your biological daughter, what will you do?â
Estherâs gaze remained unwavering. âAnna, if Pixie is not my biological daughter, I will confront Bradley and demand to know where he has hidden my real daughter!â
Anna patted Estherâs shoulder, comforting her in a soft voice. âPerhaps Pixie is really your daughter.â
A nurse arrived to take fresh blood samples from Pixie and Esther for the DNA test. Since Pixie was a key figure in the case and still under the effects of anesthesia, she had to remain in the hospital ward for now.
Esther felt overwhelming concern for Felix and Sunshine, worried they might be terrified by todayâs events. She decided to temporarily entrust Pixie to Anna and prepared to visit Felix and Sunshine.
As Esther stepped out of the ward, she spotted Jacob leading Felix and Sunshine toward her.
âMommy!â they called out.
With a wide smile, Esther opened her arms to embrace Felix and Sunshine as they ran into her loving embrace.
âMy darlings, were you scared?â Esther asked.
Felix and Sunshine shook their heads simultaneously. âNo, we were super brave.â
Jacob walked behind Sunshine, ruffled her hair, and remarked indifferently, âWho was it that cried when they heard the gunshot?â
Sunshine quickly denied it. âIt definitely wasnât me. It was Felix.â
Felixâs red eyes and tightly clasped arm around Estherâs showed he was scared and distressed. He said in a slightly wronged tone, âMommy, I was scared, and I cried!â
Esther lovingly stroked their foreheads, comforting them. âItâs okay, my darlings. Mommy is fine. Would you like to go see Pixie now?â
âYes!â Sunshine and Felix responded in unison.
Esther led them into the ward, one on each side.
âSunshine, Felix, youâre here!â
After Sunshine and Felix greeted Anna, they approached Pixieâs bedside.
Sunshine tiptoed to get a better look at Pixie, then turned to Felix and asked in her sweet voice, âMommy, is Pixie really Felixâs sister? They donât look alikeâ¦â
Anna was concerned that Sunshineâs words might touch Estherâs sore spot, so she gently explained, âSunshine, not all twins look the same. You and Twinkle are identical twins, so you look exactly alike. But Felix and Pixie are fraternal twins, which is why they donât look alike.â
âOh, I see!â
Sunshine tiptoed again, gazing at Pixie and then at Felix.
âThey really donât look alike at all.â
Jacob gazed at Sunshine, then at Pixie, and finally at Felix. He could not help but notice that Pixie and Felix did not resemble each other. However, he felt that Sunshine and Felix had a slight resemblance.
âSunshine, come here. Iâll teach you how to play with the Rubikâs Cube,â Jacob said.
Sunshineâs eyes lit up with excitement. âOkay!â
Jacob and Sunshine sat on the sofa, their fingers moving swiftly across the Rubikâs Cubeâs colorful faces.
Meanwhile, a group of omnipresent media reporters uninvitedly barged into the ward with their cameras.
âMs. Quill, Iâm Alice Lane, a reporter from Frontline Scoop. Can you tell us how you discovered the private hospital conducting illegal surgeries?â
