Benz shook his head and explained gently, âI didnât see Pixie. I just took a glance at the nurseâs station.
Anyway, when you get to the hospital building, go directly to the fourth floor and find Pixie. Once you find her, itâs best to knock her out, put her in a medical waste bin, and take her out. Remember⦠donât speak unless necessary.â
âI understand.â
âGot it.â
Anna and Esther replied simultaneously.
âIâll wait for you in the medical waste room,â Benz said.
âOkay.â
Esther and Anna, both dressed in full protective gear, stepped out of the car and headed toward the staff-only elevator on the fourth floor.
As they approached, a man in surgical attire came closer to them. âYou, come with me!â
Anna and Esther were startled, but Anna gestured that she would go with the man after a moment.
Left alone, Esther proceeded to Room 9 on the fourth floor. Fortunately, the journey was smooth, and nobody talked to her, nor did she attract any attention.
Esther arrived at the door of the ward. She took a deep breath and pushed open the door, only to be greeted by an empty room. The bed was in disarray, and a cartoon doll lay on the floor.
A chill ran down Estherâs spine. Was Pixie not in the room? Where was she taken? Were they about to take her to the operating room?
Countless questions swirled in her mind, and her heart pounded heavily. Her legs felt like they were filled with lead, and she could not move.
A nurse stood at the door and asked sternly, âIsnât medical waste collected already? What are you doing here again?â
Estherâs mind was occupied by the fact that Pixie was not in the room. She was about to speak when a young voice sounded behind the nurse.
âI asked her to come here.â
The young boy glanced at Esther indifferently and said, âMy ward is next door. You got the wrong room.â
The boyâs voice brought Esther back to her senses. She remembered Benzâs warning and felt relieved she had not spoken. Otherwise, she might have implicated Anna and Benz.
Seeing Esther follow the young boy, the nurse left, pushing the cart away.
Esther entered the young boyâs ward, separated from Pixieâs room by only one wall.
âThe person youâre looking for is not in the room,â the young boy said straightforwardly.â Letâs strike a deal.â
Esther looked at the young boy as he sat absentmindedly on the sofa in the ward, playing with a Rubikâs Cube.
âWhat deal do you want to make?â Esther asked.
In just ten short seconds, the young boy solved the disarrayed Rubikâs Cube, returning it to its original order.
âBe my mother, and Iâll help you save your daughter.â
Esther looked at him in surprise but raised an eyebrow and coldly retorted, âDo you know where my daughter is?â
âI do.â The boy took out a pair of binoculars and looked into the distance through the window.
