âPlagiarized?â Esther seemed surprised.
Anna massaged her temples and sat down to take a sip of the juice the service staff had made. â Itâs an affordable luxury series targeting young women aged 25 to 35. Our competitor paid off the original designer to sell her designs to them.
âThe problem now is that we canât launch our products even if we do sue the designer. The company must come up with another design before the launch. Otherwise, weâll become the laughing stock in our industry for being unable to deliver due to plagiarism.â
Esther had done some design work in the past, but it was for Annaâs personal exhibition, so she wasnât under any pressure. Now, Anna was asking her to do some very important work, and Esther wasnât sure she was up to it.
âI donât think Iâll be able to do a good job,â she said.
Anna held Estherâs hands and looked her in the eye. âTrust me, Esther, I know you can do it.â âI canât.
I⦠I donât think I can,â Esther mumbled.
She felt the weight on her shoulders growing heavier. She was so anxious that her fight-c flight response kicked in.
Anna squeezed Estherâs hands even tighter, but her voice was gentle. âWhat you need right now is a chance to become famous. Think about it. Once you become famous, others will notice if you disappear suddenly. When that happens, even if Bradley does find you, he wonât dare lock you up as a prisoner like he did before.â
Esther thought about how cruel Bradley was and took a deep breath. Her eyes were now firm and determined as she said, âOkay, Iâll do it.â
âThatâs wonderful!â Anna hugged Esther and patted her back for support. âGo ahead and do whatever you thinkâs necessary. Youâll always have my unwavering support.â
Anna handed Esther her tablet. âThe information on the brand is inside here. Go ahead and have a look. Iâm going to go play with the children.â
Anna gave Esther a thumbs-up and ran off to join Sunshine and Felix.
The castleâs service staff was still preparing for the barbecue while the children were gossiping.
âDonât tell Mommy about Mr. Detective, okay?â Sunshine said.
Felix nodded. âOkay.â
Anna and the children sat together and showed them how to bake potatoes, yams, and corn in aluminum foil.
Esther sat under a lamp, her slightly anxious expression making her seem even more mysterious and sad. Others couldnât help but glance at her.
Anna personally taught the children how to grill ribs and steak.
When Esther caught a whiff of the delicious meat, she got up and joined them.
The adults sat the children down and enjoyed the sight of the two cutie pies happily munching their food.
âBy the way, Esther,â Anna said. âBenz sent me a message on WhatsApp that someone is following you. He has asked me to remind you to be careful when you are outside.â Esther whispered, âThatâs because someoneâs found out who I amâ¦â
