âIâm all right, Jasper. I knew he would react like that,â Esther claimed.
Jasper could tell Esther was in a bad mood, so he tried to talk to her in a consoling tone. âYou have to pull yourself together in situations like this. You still have to save Pixie.â
Esther choked a little. âI know, but I donât know what to do. That Twitter post he sent was obviously for me. He wants me to go back and beg him.â
Jasper interjected, âYou mustnât do that. Youâd be wasting too much time. Who knows what might happen in that time?â
He sincerely wanted to help Esther, so he said in a gentle voice, âI suggest you wait for the DNA report to come out first. Once thatâs out, you could put in a formal request with the church to keep an eye on Pixieâs safety and location as her biological mother.â
Esther felt as though adrenaline had been injected into her heart, making it much easier for her to breathe.
âThe church has also informed me theyâll allow me to look at Pixie from afar after Iâve to them Iâm her mother,â she shared.
proven Jasper comforted her. âAfter you see Pixie and can confirm her address, sheâll be well within your sights. It is the best scenario you could ask for at the moment.â
Jasper sighed. âBradley is waiting for you to beg him,â he said. âIf you do, heâll use Pixie to control you.
Do you see what Iâm saying?â
After a long pause, Esther murmured, âI understand.â
âMaybe Iâm vilifying him too much.â
Jasper then changed the subject to Billyâs death. âIâve looked into Mr. Ansteyâs death like you asked.
Liliane was at his villa on the day he passed away. She had a short conversation with him, but the caretakers were able to prove that she didnât do anything to him. Weâll have to wait for the autopsy results to know more.â
Esther asked, âWhere is she now?â
âSheâs at the hospital,â Jasper replied, a hint of scorn in his voice. âMr. Ansteyâs heart was found compatible with Lilianeâs after his death, so she received a heart transplant. He had signed up to donate his organs, after all.â
Esther bit her lip. âCould Liliane have known that his heart was compatible with her since the beginning?â
Jasper said, âI thought so too in the beginning, but the police investigated her and determined she couldnât have known before. Plus, Leah is an evil person who probably would have killed Mr. Anstey sooner if she knew about this.â
Esther thought, âHeâs right. Leah is a cruel woman who even went as far as to work with Shane to gouge my heart. Dad wouldâve been long dead if she knew his heart was compatible with Lilianeâs.â
She then asked, âWhen will the autopsy results be released?â
âThings arenât looking good with the coroners either because most of Mr. Ansteyâs organs have been donated. The coroners are also finding it difficult to conduct their autopsy, but I have faith that the truth will be revealed eventually.â
Esther snickered. âWhat if that day never comes? What if history repeats itself? I didnât hurt Grandpa Thomas in the past, but everyone was sure that it was me. No matter how hard I tried to explain myselfâ¦â
Jasper said, âEsther, I will believe you forever. I trust that you didnât hurt Grandpa Thomas. Iâm sure weâll find out who it was that framed you someday.â
Jasperâs words warmed Estherâs heart.
âWill I really be able to see that day come?â she wondered aloud.
Overwhelmed with sadness, Esther asked, âWill all my pain really be washed away even if the truth does get revealed?â
