âYouâre being so smug because youâre so sure of yourself I wonât be able to find against you, am I right?â
any evidence Liam gritted his teeth and declared, âI will find it. One of these days, I will find the evidence I need.â
Liamâs intense demeanor took Liliane aback. She chuckled and sarcastically replied, âIâm trembling in fear right now!â
Liamâs anger toward Liliane was evident as he pointed at her and spoke in a deep voice.â Villains like you will face the consequences one day. Donât think your crimes will remain hidden forever. The world will eventually uncover all the heinous acts youâve committed.â
After his statement, Liam walked away while Liliane watched him from behind and snickered.
âThis mysterious man is incredible! Everything he has done so far has been flawless. Otherwise, the lawyer Jasper hired for Esther would have discovered something. Right now, I can be the ultimate winner, but the original video is still in possession of this mysterious man.â
Lilianeâs cell phone rang, and her face lit up with joy as she read the message.
The mysterious man informed her that he would arrange for Billyâs death that night.
However, Liliane needed to visit the Ansteysâ villa to facilitate his plans.
Liliane had complete trust in everything the mysterious man told her, without a shadow of a doubt.
Thus, that afternoon, Liliane and her caretakers returned to the Ansteysâ villa. The last time she had left the villa was during Bradleyâs wedding.
The villaâs windows and main entrance had faded, and the gardenâs flowers and plants were badly damaged due to lack of care.
This villa, which used to be the warmest home Liliane knew, now felt cold and unfamiliar.
âDad,â Liliane whispered as the smell of alcohol greeted her upon entering the villa.
Once she adjusted to the odor, she saw Billy, with disheveled stubble, sleeping amidst a collection of wine bottles.
Liliane turned to her caretakers and softly instructed, âOne of you needs to stay here and tidy up the place while the other buys ingredients and prepares a meal.â
The caretakers began their tasks.
Liliane gently nudged the intoxicated Billy and said, âDad, wake up.â
Billy opened his eyes dazedly and spoke hoarsely upon seeing Liliane. âLiliane, itâs you!â
âWhy did you drink so much, Dad?â Liliane played the role of a dutiful daughter, following the mysterious manâs instructions. âYou shouldnât drink so excessively. Itâs not good for you.
âLiliane! Iâm sorry for my incompetence!â Billy released all the frustration he had been harboring.
He felt bewildered, realizing his incompetence in navigating the world. He had been manipulated by Leah, had fallen for Lilianeâs schemes, and had even failed to fulfill Fayeâs task, making him feel utterly worthless.
âI will always consider you the best father,â Liliane said as she sat on the couch, holding Billyâs hand.
Suppressing her inner disgust, she continued. âI know Iâm not your biological daughter, but you have been my father since I was born. All the time we have spent together is real. I have pondered this for a long time, Dad, and I would choose you over any dowry you could offer me.
Billy, never one to make firm decisions, became even more intoxicated as he listened to Lilianeâs âsincereâ speech.
âI came home today to see you and return everything you have given me. I donât want our relationship to be destroyed over some measly dollars.â
Those words struck a chord in Billyâs heart. Despite his disdain for Leah, he softened when facing Liliane.
âLilianeâ¦â
As Billy looked at her, Liliane said, âDad, I havenât been in good health, but I know you and Mom have showered me with love. Despite everything, I feel blessed to have lived every day of my life. So, since my time may be limited compared to yours, I want you to promise me that you wonât be too devastated when that happens.â
Despite the pain Liliane had caused him, she was still the daughter he had lovingly cherished for over two decades.
