There was a sense of cold detachment on Estherâs porcelain face as she heard Felixâs question. They sat side by side on the rocks by the sea, holding hands. The crashing waves occasionally splashed onto them, creating a warm and beautiful silhouette of a mother and son leaning on each other.
âFelix, I wonât go back to him anymore.â
Felix asked softly, his voice tender, âWhy donât you want to go back to Daddy, Mommy?â
âBecause Mommy isnât happy with him,â Esther replied.
Esther held Felixâs hand, feeling somewhat guilty. She knew that Bradley was Felixâs father and that he might want to go back to him. However, she no longer desired to return to Bradleyâs side, even for Felixâs sake.
âMommy, are you really not happy when youâre with Daddy?â Felix asked, puzzled.
Esther looked into Felixâs pure eyes and honestly expressed her feelings, âYes, Mommy isnât happy with him.
âBut if you want to go back to him, Iâll arrange for someone to take you, but Mommy wonât go back.â
Felix tilted his face, partially understanding, and asked, âMommy, are you going to divorce Daddy?â
âYes.â
Felix looked down at the waves on the seashore, his expression somber. After a moment of silence, he reluctantly said, âOkay then, Iâll support Mommy as long as youâre happy.â âThank you, Felix. Youâre the best!â Esther held Felixâs hand and decided not to tell him about what Bradley had done to her. She didnât want to tarnish Felixâs image of his father.
âCan you stay with me for a while, Felix? You were with Daddy for five years, so can you be with me for a few months?â
Felix agreed affectionately, âOkay!â
Esther brought Felixâs hand to her lips and kissed it. âI must have been incredibly lucky in my past life.â
Felix asked curiously, âWhy?â
Esther pulled Felix into her arms and said, âThatâs why I have such good luck to have an adorable son like you!â
âMommy!â Felix blushed, even the tips of his ears turning pink. âMommy, where are we going if weâre not with Daddy?â
Esther held Felixâs hand and spoke softly. âActually, you have two little sisters, Felix. One is Tinkerbell, and the other is Pixie.â
Felix listened attentively as Esther told him the story.
âBut Pixie was adopted and went overseas. Iâll take you abroad to find Pixie if you want to be with me. If you donât want to be with me, Iâll arrange for someone to take you to Daddy.â
âMommy, I want to find Pixie with you.â Felix happily made his decision.
After a brief moment of contemplation, Esther added, âBut if youâre with me, you wonât be able to contact Daddy anymore.â
âWhy?â
Esther hesitated. âBecause if you tell him youâre with me, I wonât be able to go find Pixie.â
âWhen will we go find Pixie?â
âWeâll go as soon as I finish arranging things hereâ¦â
Before Esther could finish speaking, the sound of a helicopter filled the air. She looked up, alert, wondering if it was Bradley who had arrived.
