The nurses noticed Liamâs madness and quickly rushed to pull him away from Liliane. Instead of intervening, the production staff held their cameras to capture all the chaos for publicityâs sake.
Suddenly, Liam fell heavily to the floor with a loud âbangâ, blood pouring from the back of his head.
The fight came to an abrupt end, with Liam injured and Liliane fainting in fright.
Esther sat on a chair on the terrace, enjoying the food the housekeeper brought. She found herself on a deserted island, surrounded by darkness, with only the sound of waves crashing against the rocks.
The sea breeze brushed through her long hair as if breaking invisible shackles. She inhaled the air of freedom, feeling the gentle sea breeze, and a sense of ease and pleasure enveloped her entire being.
âMs. Quill, thereâs a video call from Mr. Searle,â the housekeeper informed, turning on the tablet and placing it in front of Esther.
Esther looked at Jasperâs face on the screen and asked with concern, âJasper, has Bradley caused any trouble for you?â
âHe doesnât believe youâre dead and thinks Iâve hidden you,â Jasper replied, sitting on a sofa in the bedroom, clad in a bathrobe. âI must admit, heâs quite smart.â
Estherâs tone turned cold as she replied, âHe just canât stand a pet defying his orders!â
Esther couldnât help but think that if Bradley were truly smart, he wouldnât have fallen for Lilianeâs tricks.
âI donât care what he thinks, but I might not be able to come and see you for now,â Jasper said seriously. âIâm afraid Bradley might have someone tracking me.â
âJasper, Iâve caused you trouble again,â Esther expressed her guilt.
Deep down, she was worried that Bradley would hold Jasper responsible for her actions.
Jasper laughed heartily. âSilly girl, your matters are never trouble for me.â
A tinge of bitterness welled up within Esther as she asked, âWhen can I go abroad?â
She longed to go overseas to find Pixie. She wanted to be reunited with her daughter. After losing Felix and Tinkerbell, she couldnât bear the thought of losing Pixie again.
âA man named Oliver Quill contacted me today, Esther. He claims to be your motherâs older brother,â
Jasper shared, seeking Estherâs opinion.
Speaking in a low voice, he continued. âHe wants to meet you. I wanted to ask for your thoughts first. If you want to meet him, I can give him your location, and he will come to see you directly.â
Esther had been under the impression that Faye had no other relatives in this world, only to discover now that she had a family. Did this mean she wouldnât be alone anymore?
âFor now, Iâd prefer not to meet him. I donât want to bring trouble to them,â Esther replied.
Jasper laughed heartily and expressed deep concern âEsther, when will you change your habit of always considering others first? Let me tell you, Oliver has influence in Capitus. Bradley may be wealthy, but do you know what kind of place Capitus is? The Quills not only have wealth but also power. If you return to the Quills, you wonât have to secretly go abroad. No matter how arrogant Bradley is, he wonât dare challenge the Quills with the Warner Group at stake.â
Esther didnât fully grasp the intricacies of these matters and anxiously asked, âSo, itâs an established wealthy family versus a newly rich one?â
âYou could say that,â Jasper playfully teased. âEsther, donât forget about me if you return to the Quills!!
âBut what if Iâm not a Quill?â Esther asked, her anxiety apparent.
Jasper looked at Esther on the screen, her hair fluttering in the sea breeze. There was a cold detachment in her makeup-free face.
