Chapter 269

Kevin keenly noticed that Ben’s wrists were bleeding and looked deeply at Bradley. Seeing Bradley’s silence, he refrained from speaking as well.

Bradley exuded a chilling, murderous aura as he approached Shane. With a condescending tone, he addressed Shane, “Mr. Hoyer, this time, it was your wife who jumped into the sea. Next time, it could be your son plunging into the depths of the ocean…”

Shane hadn’t expected his wife to be so resolute. Only when the team rescued her did he feel a sense of relief from the brink of disaster. He had always believed that he didn’t love his wife, but unknowingly, he had fallen in love with this pure and silly woman.

“I will talk,” Shane took a deep breath and finally made the decision to reveal everything he knew. “I’ll tell you everything you want to know.”

Bradley waved his hand, and Kevin released Ben from his restraints, understanding the gesture.

As soon as Kevin untied the ropes binding Ben, he hurried to Jessica’s side and anxiously asked, “Mom, are you cold? Why did you do something so foolish? We’re not the ones who should be damned! If anything happens to you, what will I do?”

Jessica tightly held Ben’s wrists, her heart aching as she looked at the bloodstains, and softly said, “Son, you’re hurt. Let me apply some medicine for you.”

“I’m fine, Mom.”

The warmth between mother and son brought tears to Esther’s eyes. She wondered if she would ever experience such a tender moment in her life. She longed for Felix, missing him intensely so much that it drove her to madness.

Esther wished she could hold Felix tightly in her arms at that moment and ask him, “Felix, are you cold? Are you scared, my son?”

“Liliane is my biological daughter. Leah and I fell in love during our university days, but we broke up when I went abroad for further studies.

“After returning from abroad and starting my job at the hospital, Leah informed me that she had married someone else in order to give our daughter legal status.

“Liliane has a congenital heart condition and cannot engage in strenuous activities. Leah concealed her condition by using the excuse of needing to get married in the future so as not to be pressured by the Ansteys into having a second child.

“We’ve had occasional private contact over the years, but our communication has been limited since we’re both married.

“Five years ago, Leah came to me and asked me to take Esther’s son away. I agreed! This is my debt to Liliane.

“Mr. Warner, I handled everything on my own. It has nothing to do with my wife or my son. I’m ready to face any punishment as long as you spare the innocent ones.”

Shane confessed everything but only revealed the details related to Esther and Bradley. As for the secretive organ trafficking, he didn’t dare mention it at all. He was well aware of the power wielded by the boss behind it. If he dared to disclose even a fraction of it, it wouldn’t just be his son who would face retaliation, but his parents and siblings as well.

“Why did you tell me that the children died due to difficult childbirth?” Esther asked in immense pain, expressing her doubt. “Even if you took Felix away, I still have two daughters…

”

This question had been haunting Esther all along, as she couldn’t comprehend the answer.
