âDaddy, Mommy, Iâm so happy!â Felix exclaimed with pure delight, his innocent face glowing with the charm of his young age.
With a warm smile, Esther assigned Felix a small task, saying, âFelix, can you count how many ravioli Mommy made?â
Felix stood up on the dining chair and began counting the plate of ravioli Esther had prepared. âOne, two, threeâ¦â
Concerned that Felix might lean too far and fall, Bradley reached out and gently held him in his arms.
âMommy, there are 99 ravioli!â Felix announced proudly!
Esther gave him a thumbs up, showing her approval. Felixâs eyes gleamed with excitement as he swayed in Bradleyâs embrace.
âDaddy, Mommy, let me tell you a secret. Iâm a genius!â Felix exclaimed, although his parents didnât quite grasp his meaning. Nevertheless, they smiled at each other and praised him in unison, âYes, youâre a genius.â
Felixâs face lit up with joy as he sat snugly in Bradleyâs arms, eagerly looking at Esther. âMommy, can we cook the ravioli now?â
âOf course!â Esther pointed to the ravioli laid out on the board and spoke gently. âSome of these are for steaming, and some are for boiling.â
âI want to eat them all!â Felix declared with enthusiasm.
âOkay,â Esther agreed, and she instructed Melinda to start boiling water in two pots.
Esther quickly prepared the sauces while Melinda assisted in the kitchen, making the process smoother.
As the water began to boil, Esther carefully placed the raw ravioli into the pot, with Melindaâs help making the task easier. Nestled in Bradleyâs arms, Felix asked innocently, âDaddy, how did you and Mommy meet?
âWhy do you ask so many questions, little brat?â Bradleyâs tone suddenly turned cold.
With his chin supported by his little hand, Felix tilted his head and pondered for a moment before saying, â Daddy, you should treat Mommy well. Otherwise-â
Bradley interrupted, asking, âOtherwise, what?â
Felixâs mischievous expression left Bradley speechless as he said, âIâll find another Daddy!â
Observing Felixâs happiness, Bradley decided not to disclose Lilianeâs illness to him. Since there were doctors taking care of Liliane, he didnât want to dampen Felixâs spirits.
Melinda assisted Esther in the kitchen as she plated the ravioli and carefully added the sauces. The dish looked like a work of art.
âWow⦠Mommyâs amazing!â Felix applauded, bringing joy to Estherâs heart. She longed to hug her sweet son and shower him with kisses.
âJust in case they donât taste good, you must let me know, okay?â
Felix vigorously shook his head. âMommyâs cooking is the most delicious in the world!â
Skillfully, Felix scooped up a ravioli and took a bite. The flavors exploded in his mouth, but the heat.
caused tears to well up in his eyes.
Reacting quickly, Esther held out her hand, positioned her palm beneath Felixâs small mouth, and gently said, âFelix, spit it out. Donât burn yourself.â
Felix shook his head vehemently. No!
