The current Bradley had no idea that Felix had already told him the truth so early on and that he missed the chance to confront it.
Peeling garlic required technique, but fortunately, Felix was gifted and could remember anything after seeing it once. He earnestly battled with the garlic Esther had entrusted to him, peeling it until it was clean and beautiful.
âMommy, Iâve peeled the garlic!â Felix held the peeled garlic in the kitchen and waited for Estherâs praise.
Esther looked at the well-peeled garlic and leaned down to plant a kiss on Felixâs little face. â Youâre amazing!â
Felix was elated by Estherâs praise and instantly asked, âMommy, is there anything else I can do?â
âOf course!â Esther handed Felix a bunch of scallions.
Felix patted his chest and assured her. âMommy, leave it to me!â
Felix went to seek assistance with the scallions while Esther continued to work methodically in the kitchen. She peeled and diced the tomatoes, beat the eggs, cooked them in a pan until fluffy, added the diced tomatoes, sautéing them until the tomato juice blended with the eggs, and finished with a pinch of salt for seasoning.
The broccoli was cut into small pieces, soaked in lightly salted water for a few minutes, boiled in hot water until cooked, and then mixed with minced garlic, salt, and sesame oil.
The mushroom and potatoes were placed in a pressure cooker to stew into a delicious soup.
The celery was cut into uniform strips, and stir-fried with marinated beef. The resulting beef dish featured vibrant colors with green celery and red and yellow bell peppers.
As for the blanched shrimps, it was a simple dish, but Esther added her own touch to it.
âMommy, Mommy, here are the scallions!â Felix came holding the scallions, and Esther reached out to embrace him, having him wash the scallions under the faucet. She then taught Felix how to chop the scallions.
âMommy, how do we use these scallions?â
âSprinkle some on the tomato and scrambled eggs.â
âOkay!â Felix imitated Estherâs technique-he sprinkled a handful of chopped scallions onto the tomato and scrambled eggs.
âIs it done?â asked Felix.
Esther replied, âYes, our Felixâs fantastic. He can help Mommy with tasks now.â
Instead of feeling shy from Estherâs praise, Felix felt proud and said, âItâs because I am a little man!â
âThen, little man, go tell Daddy to wash his hands and come eat.â
âOkay!â Felix ran to Bradleyâs side like a whirlwind. âDaddy, wash your hands, and letâs eat!â
Bradley glanced at the time. It had been less than an hour, and Esther had already prepared the meal?
Esther placed the four dishes and one bowl of soup she had cooked on the marble table. The mushroom and potato soup was still steaming, so she intentionally placed a basin of ice cubes under the soup bowl to cool it down.
âWow⦠Mommy is amazing!â Felix climbed onto his chair using his little arms and legs without needing Bradleyâs help.
âTimeâs a bit tight today, but Iâll cook delicious food for you in the future.â
Felix exclaimed excitedly, âMommy, Iâll help you!â
âOkay.â
