Now that they had settled that topic, the two of them didn’t know what else to say and an awkward atmosphere hung in the air.

“Brother Lin and his wife are here too?” asked Wang Li.

“Yes, they’re here too. Brother Lin accompanied his wife to visit Xi Xi’s grandmother,” said Xiao He as he took out his phone from his pocket.

“Oh, gosh!” Xiao He slapped his thigh.

“What’s wrong?” asked Wang Li.

Xiao He turned the phone screen towards Wang Li to show its contents to her. “Look, I don’t know when this phone went silent but I had missed a few calls from Brother Lin. I think they’re done on their end.”

“Then give them a call first.”

Xiao He nodded, got up, and walked to a side to make a call.

In less than two minutes, Xiao He hung up the phone and said to Wang Li, “I have to go to the grocery store. Do you want to come with me?”

Xiao He hesitated a moment before he said that last sentence.

Wang Li smiled gently. “Of course. Wait a minute. I’ll get my bag and we can go.

“We’ll take my car too. Where are Brother Lin and and his wife? Let’s go pick them up,” said Wang Li as she locked the door and headed downstairs.

“No need. They are already at the market. We can go there directly.”

And with that, the couple drove to the market together.

Lin Feiyang and Li Ping had been waiting at the market for a long time.

Seeing Xiao He and Wang Li get out of the car together, Li Ping gave Lin Feiyang’s elbow a nudge.

“Brother Lin, Sister Li.” Wang Li greeted the couple as she walked over.

Lin Feiyang secretly glanced at Xiao He and noticed that the admiration in his eyes was self-evident.

“Let’s go in and buy groceries,” said Li Ping as she looked at the group. Wang Li then took a step forward and held Li Ping’s arm. “Let’s go, Sister Li.”

“Yes, let’s go.”

Just like that, two women walked in front and two men followed behind.

The women picked the groceries and weighed them while the men were responsible for paying and carrying the groceries.

The two couples were a sight for sore eyes in the market. Many people stopped and looked at them.

Other couples were envious of them, looking at the groceries in their hands and the men beside them. The more they looked, the angrier they became.

“Look at them. The men are helping the women carry the groceries. Look at you. You only leave everything is up to me.” One of the women expressed her dissatisfaction.

The man who was her companion immediately gave in and said, “Okay, okay. I’m sorry. I’ll take your groceries for you. I’ll take them.”

And he did as he promised, he took the things from the woman’s hands.

Xiao He and the other three looked away and smiled silently.

“I think we have enough. If there’s nothing else, let’s go back first,” said Li Ping as she looked at the groceries in the hands of the two men.

The others also felt that it was enough, so they agreed.

Li Ping was going to take the bus with Lin Feiyang. She wanted to give Xiao He and Wang Li some alone time.

However, they couldn’t resist Wang Li’s repeated invitation, so the two of them got into Wang Li’s car as well.

When they passed a supermarket, Wang Li stopped the car. “Wait a minute, I’ll be back

soon.”

They didn’t know what she was going to do, but they nodded.

Not long after, Wang Li came back with two big bags of things.

Lin Feiyang patted Xiao He’s seat. “Aren’t you going to help?”

Xiao He got out of the car and hurried to Wang Li before taking the things in her hands.

“I don’t know what the two children like to eat, so I just bought some food that they might like,” said Wang Li.

The others weren’t expecting her to do something like this. Wang Li had done quite a lot.

The four of them drove back to Xiao He’s house and began to prepare dinner.

In the end, the two women became the chefs for the night while Xiao He and Lin Feiyang became their sous chefs.

Li Ping looked at the time and said, “The two children are about to finish school. You two go and pick up the children. I don’t need you two anymore.”

And with that, the two men were pushed out of the kitchen. As they stood in the doorway, they stared at each other. Why did it feel like they were sent away because they had been rejected out of the kitchen?

The two of them shook their heads, took off their aprons, put them aside, and went to the kindergarten to pick up Xiao Yun and Lin Xi.

When the two of them arrived, there were already a lot of parents waiting at the door. Soon, the teacher organized the children to line up at the door and let their parents pick them up.

When Lin Xi came out, she immediately saw Lin Feiyang, so she let go of Xiao Yun’s hand and ran to Lin Feiyang. Lin Feiyang immediately picked her up.

“Dad, you came to pick me up today,” said Lin Xi sweetly, and then she greeted Xiao He.

Lin Feiyang held his daughter in his arms, weighed her, and said, “Yes, Dad came to pick you up today. Are you happy?”

Lin Xi wiggled in Lin Feiyang’s arms and said, “I’m happy!”

Xiao He saw the cute daughter in Lin Feiyang’s arms and was very envious. Then, he looked at Xiao Yun with a look of disgust.

He had come to pick him up, but his son had not said anything. Xiao He wished Xiao Yun was a girl now. Then, he would be able to act like Lin Xi in his arms.

Xiao Yun, Chubs, and Zhang Lexuan walked up to Xiao He. “Hello, Uncle!” Chubs and Zhang Lexuan greeted in unison.

“Hey, boys. Do you want to come to my house for dinner?” Xiao He decided to invite them over for dinner. After all, Xiao He had seen these two children before. Xiao Yun also said that these two were his friends, so Xiao He felt that it wouldn’t be good if he didn’t invite them.

Chubs and Zhang Lexuan declined, indicating that they would go over when they had time in the future.

Xiao He didn’t force them. He only reminded the two of them to pay attention to their safety. Then, he patted Xiao Yun on the head before the four of them left.

When they returned home, Li Ping and Wang Li had already prepared the dishes and served them on the table.

“You’re back. Quickly wash your hands and we can eat,” said Li Ping as she waved her chopsticks.

Lin Xi ran to Li Ping like a little angel and planted a sweet kiss on her face. Then, she pulled over Xiao Yun to wash hands their together.

“Oh, it smells good. It looks, smells, and tastes good.” Xiao Yun walked to the dining table and took a look.

After Li Ping heard it, she pulled Wang Li out and said, “This was all made by Wang Li. I was just helping out. The dishes on the table are probably made according to your taste.”

Wang Li’s little face turned slightly red. “No, Sister Li has also done a lot. It’s just that she had told me about your taste and preferences, so I made it according to that. I hope it’s to your liking.”

“Don’t be modest. You’ve worked hard!” Lin Feiyang walked over and tried to give Wang Li more confidence.
